CK’s Nightmare on County Avenue

After a couple of days I’d rather forget, I found myself caged like a wild animal in a zoo in a PTU sitting on a table in the Secaucus Animal Hospital. I didn’t know how I got there but I fought the entire way. The song of my people was still ringing in the ears of my peeps, traitors that they are. I expected the worst even though I kinda have a rapport with Dr. D.

Dateline: Tuesday, April 28th. It was a week I should have been celebrating since I was the featured cat on the Cats of the CB weekly planner. Instead I was feeling poorly. Saturday, TW had noticed in her inspection of my litter box that my poo wasn't formed. It more more like a puddle o’ poo which continued into Sunday, when I didn’t eat much of anything. On Monday, I didn’t come in for my breakfast and TW noticed I hadn’t used my box at all. No pees and no poos and I was nauseous. She was worried and so was Pop, which led me to find myself in the hands of Dr. D.

Despite not eating, it took them at least half a day 10 minutes to get me into my PTU. First they tried the new Richell PTU since it opens from the top and I play in there. I wasn’t having it. They finally rammed me into the old hand-me-down Kennel Cab. Although I had a towel over my PTU, I protested loudly with several choruses of my people’s song during the taxi ride. They hardly heard since they were yakking with the hack.

Pop is petting my nose while I’m getting poked and prodded.
My exam went fairly uneventful. No masses; no temperature; teeth ok. I was pretty p.o.ed that no one at SAH seemed to know who I was and how famous I am despite the fact that I was told they all read this blog. The tech got out the long orange gloves but unlike the other place, she didn’t scruff me. She held me respectfully and I thank her. Dr. D started using words like Pancreatitis and said she’d like my bloods. Apparently she was unaware of what happened to the last vet who tried to get my bloods. I hear they had to amputate her thumb.

After the exam was over and my rectum had been painfully breached, it was time to take me back to the torture chamber. TW axed if Pop could come with me cos it might relax me. Dr. D agreed and we took the walk down the long dark cold corridor leading to the area where the evil is done. Dr. D was telling my Pop to be careful that I might bite when given the shot. Pop assured her that he was used to being bitten by yours truly. I couldn’t believe she was still talking about taking my blood.

The room was a large bright one with kitties in cages all around. I silently promised them that if I made it out alive, I’d be their champion and get them out of there. The humans slowly took the top off the carrier and the vet tech held me down on my left side so the vampire could suck the blood out of my right leg. She axed Pop if he was squeamish around needles and he answered in the affirmative. They then merrily shared iv stories all the while trying to get blood out of the kitteh. Dr. D actually told my Pop I had a fat leg! She also mentioned that my having a dry vein on one side is not unusual in cats. The vet tech turned me over onto my right side and Dr. D once again jabbed me. This time, she struck gold blood. Next was the shot of Pepcid which drove me over the edge. When would the torture end? Why wasn’t Pop helping me escape? I had reached my limit of cooperation and started hissing and growling. Pop was still petting my nose and forehead talking to me. Whatever he was saying, I wasn’t hearing.

Seriously, does my leg look fat? It’s all muscle.
When she finished and I was all bandaged up to staunch the blood gushing out of my leg, Pop axed about an xray and nail clipping. Who was he kidding? The voice of sanity, Dr. D told him I had reached my limit for the day. At least someone in that room was thinking and making sense. I was shoved gently placed back in the PTU and we headed back to the exam room where TW was waiting for news. She was anxious to know whether they got my blood or I got theirs.

When I got home, I still wouldn’t eat until the ugly yellow bandage was off my leg. The only trouble was that I wouldn’t let the peeps pull it offa me. The peeps were on pins and needles awaiting the results of my blood test but they needn’t worry. My pancreas levels were fine. They also tested for diabetes, liver disease, infection and kidney disease and that all looked normal. I was, however, still having puddles o’ poo and Dr. D suggested adding cooked rice in my food or probiotic. As if. I wasn’t eating as it was and anything added to my food made it worse.

I’m feeling better now. I’m eating, running, trying to bite TW. TW can’t report on any poos since I’ve yet to give her one today. We thank Dr. D cos she saved me another trip to the vet and more stress by keeping TW calm last week. If anyone reading this is from NJ and needs a good vet, look up Dr. D. Stay tuned Wednesday when I will reveal—to those not on FB—what we think is responsible for my major tummy upset.

  22. OMC! What a nightmare! Of course you don't have fat legs, they are beautiful. When I have to get my blood stolen, they shave all the fur off my neck so the vampire can drain all my blood more easily.

As you know I had to go to the ebil vet on my birthday, but I never do anything like you. I just go all wimpy and cower quietly. The vet thinks I'm a "sweetheart"!!! But I am plotting my revenge! Wanna join me? It could get ugly! xoxoxox
