Back in the last century when TW was young—I believe she calls it the early 1970s—the style that all the women in her class were wearing was short rabbit-fur jackets. Some of you may remember them. It just so happened that TW needed a new jacket so she hits the
She went into one kinda upscale shop and started looking at jackets. The sales woman came over and quickly steered her toward the rabbit fur jackets. TW informed the sales woman she was looking for a wool pea coat because she didn’t wear animal fur. It was cruel. Bear in mind, this was before she’d ever heard of PeTA (back when they didn’t kill animals) or an animal rights movement. The sales woman slowly backed away, glared at TW and sounded hurt as she loudly announced “WHAT? YOU DON’T WANT RRRRABBIT??” Yeah, she actually rolled her “R"As if, how dare TW!
Why did I bore you with this story? Last week Wild Calling sent me cat food. You might remember when they sent me DOG food by mistake. They sent four cans each of Rabbit Burrow and Magic Meadow Buffalo and I thank them very much. When TW mixed the rabbit in with my regular food, I sniffed and walked away. She was as shocked as that sales woman and in the same tone of voice said “WHAT? YOU DON’T LIKE RRRRABBIT??” I guess what comes around goes around.
Wild Calling says on their site that their food contains 96% healthy protein-rich ingredients and 100% essential goodness. It doesn’t contain grain, gluten or artificial ingredients. They are a family-owned company. All the food is made in the USA with nothing sourced from China. As delish as it sounds, this cat is a very picky eater
The rrrrrrabbit didn’t go to waste cos a handsome black panfur in our parking garage made quick work of it which proves that just cos something is too rich for my blood doesn’t mean you won’t like it. TW has yet to give me the buffalo cos of my health issues which are completely unrelated.
In a completely unrelated note, I’ll be updating you on my health issues on FB if we find out anything. Hopefully, I’ll also give you a blow by blow on my trip to the vet sometime next week.
Disclaimer: I was sent the food as a prize but the words are my own. No one puts words into this ghetto kitteh’s mouth.
Sherpa is particularly fond of rabbit. Problem is he catches them and brings them to me. I wonder if he thinks I'm going to cook them for him. As if
ReplyDeleteDifferent strokes for different folks is what we say. Rabbits is for catio time watching at our house, not meal time. MOL!
ReplyDeleteWe are sending lots of get well purrs for you.
XOXO
We's had some rabbit food before. I liked it, but I like everything.
ReplyDeleteSendin ya purrs.
I hope you are feeling MUCH better soon, CK! BTW, we all like rabbit here, but rarely get it because my human feels too guilty.
ReplyDeleteWizard likes wild rabbit when he catches them but won't eat it from a can. Cats are like kids, they don't want what's good for them.
ReplyDeletewe hope you feel better soon, CK! Cousins Shep and Earl really love rabbit. Picky Pierre wouldn't hear of it, so we don't have it here very often. Newton loves it, too.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone, CK. Truffles got some raw rabbit treats in the mail and didn't care for them. I was kind of creeped out by it too. We really do get the chance to try out that Wild Calling food, though :)
ReplyDeletePurring that you're feeling better very, very soon.
Love your story, CK! We are surprised you do not like rabbit. Jewel really liked it, and the Mom got her to eat some when hers didn't want to eat other noms. Lita would eat anything, but mes - mes doesn't know. Mes is picky.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Carmine
Feel better soon and have a super duper Wednesday...
ReplyDeleteNoodle and crew
Mom says she hates to admit it but she still has her RRRRabbit fur jacket from the 70s! She wasn't as enlightened as TW back then. I don't hate to admit that I LOVE rabbit.
ReplyDeleteCK I am picky too. Mom opens a can and I look at it like you're giving me THIS to eat? Nawh I don't think so! Right now I'm down to only a handful of things I'll eat. I don't even like dried food either. So Mom is like trying different stuff before she buys a whole bunch because she knows I'll turn my delicate little nose up to it.
ReplyDeleteI just hope your hopping to that food bowl and chowing down CK!
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy!
ReplyDeleteWe never tried these, but they look yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Lola and Lexy
Thanks for sharing about this food with us, CK. We're pretty picky about what we eat here. Our mom tried to give Zoe some of Moosey's food one time, and Zoe RAN out of the room. MOL.
ReplyDeleteWe like that story about TW and shopping for a coat. Props to her for knowing what was what, even before groups like Peta.
Hope you're feeling okay, dear friend. We've been purring and praying!

I'm glad you got your cat food. It was weird that they sent you dog food in the first place. Rabbit does sound like it would be yummy to a kitty. You are purrrfectly allowed to be picky though! :)
ReplyDelete-Purrs from your friends at www.PlayfulKitty.net
That is a funny story. I am glad the food didn't go to waste and the other kitty got a high quality meal in his tummy. I hope you are feeling better. I will check Facebook for an update. Make sure you enter our giveaway for chicken legs- the kind that won't upset your tummy. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, at least the Wild Calling peeps sent you some cat food this time. Too bad you didn't like it. That was a lucky kitty who got it.
ReplyDeleteActually, one of my favorite foods, when wes lived in Calgary and Mommy could goes to specialty petstores (instead of just supermarkets and Walmarts) was rabbit (please don't tell Speedy) and Trouts!

We're glad you finally got your cat food, but we're sorry you don't like it. You made a kitty happy with that food ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad it didn't go the waste. Sounds yummy to us.
ReplyDeleteWabbit huh? Never had it......I like watching the occasional one hopping around my yard but eating it? I don't think so.......I'd be picturing Bugs Bunny and wouldn't be able to enjoy the meal I think. I hope you're feeling better CK.

I have to admit to catching a baby bunny in my past, but when mum gave me Rrrrabbit from a can, I wouldn't touch it either.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you weren't well! I hope it is nothing serious and send you big smoochie purrs.
I'm not a rrrrrrrabbit lover myself, except for those frolicking in the field! I think you were wise, CK!
ReplyDeleteMOL! uh, CK, ya gotta ask the BFF Allie about RRRRRRRABBIT! (as in, there might or might NOT have been a backyard INCIDENT with one today (Wednsday). WORD.
ReplyDeleteAnd word has it the mom is refusing to MOW in the backyard until the DAD does something ABOUT it.
