Feast or Famine. CK's Confesses

My name is Cathy Keisha and I have an eating disorder. I'm a binge eater. Yes, it's true. *SOOOB sobsobsob* HWONK! Sniffle! Here's my story.

My largely untouched Autumn Bounty chicken
Yes, some days I eat the entire half a can of stinky goodness for breakfast, eat most of my grain-free and scarf down my FF tuna before 6 pm. Then if I'm still starving, Pop or TW will give me a pouch of Whiskas. Then for two days after, I barely pick at my foods. I mostly just eat the FF tuna and leave my breakfast and grain-free barely touched. TW gets worried when I don't eat much cos I don't drink H2O so I get all my liquid from the wet foods. Forget it if TW adds water to my stinky goodness. Scrape, scrape.

A few years ago, when I got dehydrated and the v.e.t. had to give me fluids, they said I had IBS. The peeps were shocked since I hardly ever frow up and my poos were well formed. My only problem is that on days when I'm not binging, I hardly sniff my food. The v.e.t.—the one who knew nothing and tried to kill me by turning me upside down—said that when I lick my lips, it's a sign I'm nauseous. I lick my lips a lot but TW thinks it's cos the house is so dry. Her lips and mouth gets dry also and she's not nauseous.

I'd rather eat the stale food than the grain-free.
Wednesday, I did well on my breakfast, barely touched lunch and was given my Fancy Feast a bit late. I wasn't pleased it was 20 minutes late. TW went to wash the stinky goodness off her hands when she suddenly heard the dulcet tones of kitty gurgling. Yes, I frew up right on the rug—where else? She was pleased it wasn't on my new cat tree since last year when I projectile bomited, it was on my carpeted cat tree. All over my carpeted cat tree! I've lived here 7 years and have only frowed up four times so how could I have IBS? This time she remembered the Bissell Stomp 'n Go®, which did a really good job on the rug. Since my incident yesterday, I've actually eaten some food laced with water so TW doesn't go all loony on me.

I get TW really mad when I eat kibble when she has the grain-free out for me. Heh-heh! I'm a cat; I don't aim to please!

  1. There may be varying degrees of IBS. I don't know if it will work with Cathy Keisha, but when Herman wasn't eating he went for the Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys. It contains quite a bit of water and might help her.

  2. Meh, if you have IBS it doesn't sound too bad. Lip-licking is a sign of nausea, but I'd probably expect some drooling with that. Sorry to hear you got turned upside down by a vet, that sounds crazy! I just gave the new kitties some Friskies tuna shreds tonight. Honey Delite really liked it!

  3. I am sorry you did not feel well.
I hope your stomach sorts itself out

  4. I have curious eating habits too. Just recently, the vets (finally!) figured out that I must not be absorbing nutrients from my food because lately I've been eating well but not gaining any weight. It sounds to me like your food disorder, while somewhat different, is as mysterious as mine.

  5. Aw, sorry you tossed your cookies. That's never fun, even when it's on the carpet. I understand your people wanting you to drink more, have they tried a fountain? Play in the sink? That's how my kitties drink the most.. A special glass at the sink. Not fun when the dump it because you know it has to be kept full to the brim!

  6. Sorry Keisha we are chuckling but we do hope you find a way to manage your IBS and that you will feel better. If you need to bombit suggest you find a pair of shoes I know it works. Have a fabulous Furday.
    Best wishes Molly

  7. That doesn't sound like much fun. You really should drink some water, CK. We don't want to have to worry about you. A former vet told our head peep that to get a cat to drink more, put water bowls in multiple rooms. Visitors always comment on all the water bowls in the house, but it works. Enough water around, and we eventually think that drinking is our idea.

  8. Sorry you're not feeling well CK...That binge eating can't be good for you, but you're a cat and you're going to do things your way I know...Hope you feel better soon

  9. Mum has never ever seen me drink but I know she mixes some water in my cat food so that I get liquid.
    Luv Lucy xx
I do drink from a bowl but if Mum hasn't seen me she gives me a food with gravy pouch to eat.
    Luv Hannah xx

  10. Oh, sweetheart, we hope you feel better. Thank you for sharing your troubles. We bet you've helped other kitties by sharing. Livia and Abbi love to throw up on my coverlet, which is quite gross.

  11. There is help CK! I don't know where, but there is help!! I have an eating disorder too. It's called being very picky!! You take care now xx

  12. That really is no fun CK. Maybe a NipTini or three would help.

  13. Well, whatever you have, CK, bomitting is no fun at all. We hope you are feeling better!

  14. CK, although we applaud you driving TW crazypants, we worry about your gizzards...could you at least NIBBLE every day?

btw--the mark on Mommy's hand wasn't from us, alas...she burned it on the oven! Gotta love a self-injuring peep.

  15. Sorry you are having trouble eating food that's good for you. M has about given up on me - I have certain foods htat I like and will eat. M feels they are not the most healthy, but I refuse to eat when she spends $$ on the really best food. She keep trying tho to see if my taste will change, but so far "no go!"

  16. Hey BFGF!! You stop that bombitting, 'kay? (whispers behind paws...I tossed all my dinner one night right between Mom and Dad on our bedspread...middle of the night...it dried real good so Mom thought she had stuck her hand in a pile of dirt next morning...course...where the heck had the dirt come from...heh...heh) So I also upchuck if I have a dry snack or wet foods and then have a play time right away...almost always barf all I ate right up...carpet of course

  17. Hope you are feeling better again CK !

  18. CK, you do have some strange eating habits...but as long as you seem okay...well, upchucking your foods really isn't okay...TW shouldn't worry too much.

Sometimes I eat my foods too fast and I end up bomiting them as fast as I ate them. Then I want more foods. It drives the mom crazy.

  21. My kitties are sorta like you, Keisha, 'cept they throw up more than that. Mom gave them a really high-quality food recently and they both threw up and threw up. She switched back to another with less protein and everything is hunky-dory again! Me? I eat anything as long as it's not fruit and raw veggies.

  22. Ellie and Allie hork food sometimes....then they go eat again!! Mom says it's gross!! At least they don't do what the woofies do..........(better left for your imagination)

We hope your Mom can figure out what's causing your tummy issues.

  23. This sounds pretty serious. It's good you don't throw up a lot. That is super dehydrating. Lisbeth and Mauricio get the barfies all the time, but it is just because they inhale their food. We hope that your humans can find the right combination of foods for you. 24. I'm glad you ate the food with the water in it, sweet girl. Sometimes those poor humans just get so frantic with concern about us that really, we need to do something to make them feel better.

Before The Great Outrage of August 2012, I ate so little that the Human practically wept in frustration sometimes as she scraped yet another uneaten plate of fudz into the trash. She feels happier now cause I almost always eat my breakfast and dinner foodz, though sometime I eat my little dish of kibbles first and she doesn't like that at all.
It's so hard to keep them satisfied!

  25. Sheesh, CK....we missed your post!
So glad to read you're ok. Sounds like water is a good thing. The girl is tricking me into drinking more water too. Still...whenever I get the urge to cough up my breakfast, I head over to her favorite rug. It's got lots of dots on it, with helps my aim.
    ; )

    hope you're feeling better.

  26. Ummmm, that's quite a lot at one go. Not even gutsy Charlotte can match that. That certain calico is gaining weight and has to go on a d-i-e-t. She hates it!

  27. Mowzers, you and Sparkle sure do like to confound the V-E-T don't you?!? (or are you doing it just to get on TW's nerves?)

We sure do hope you're not IBDing again - and that this incident was an anomaly. Glad to hear you're eating the stinky stuff again - water and all!
