Wednesday Word—Burds*

What the Hell-o Kitty you lookin’ at, Woman?

*with apologies to the Trout Towne Tabbies

The television around here has been incredible this year. I don’t mean the boring stuff Pop watches every night while TW is helping me visit your blogs. I’m talking about the new, improved Burd-tv stations I can tune into outside my window. While I don’t get the exotic stations some of you get in Florida, mine has gotten a hunnert times better. Lemme tell you why.

I live in a very urban area. From my window, I can see loads of trees in the distance but there are only three close by. There's one little house where they have a yard with a nice tree. Since I’ve lived here, that house and yard have been either empty or neglected with weeds growing six feet high. Apparently, the cool burds don’t like that so all I used to get was some Car-tv on the helix and Pigeon-tv. Yeah, those caca-dropping rats with wings. Late last summer, a young couple with kids and two big woofies bought the house.

They immediately started cleaning the yard. Then, to my peeps’ horror, they cut down a good portion of the tree. GASP! All winter the peeps looked at the tree and wondered if it would bloom again. It did! Not only that but the new folks cleaned the yard and planted all kinds of seeds and plants.

The burds responded. They came and brought all their friends. They sing the song of their people from early morn until night fall. I have to say I’ve spent more time on the window sill this spring and early summer than I ever have. I’ve been cackling, cooing, mewing and singing the song of my people. I love my new Burd-tv channels.

Today I drove TW crazy running from one side of our 65-in. wide window to the other. She kept saying “I must be blind cos I’m not seeing what you’re seeing.” I guess she is blind or she had the wrong channel on.

How’s your Burd-tv this year?

  19. That is pawesome! We're lucky to have a couple of trees right outside the window. And we have a big house right next to our building and the birdies sit on the roof. Since we're on the 3rd floor we can see them purrfectly.

  25. I'm glad to hear that you now have real Burd TV! It was awfully nice of the new neighbors to install that for you. Cinco and Manna have Miscellaneous Water Fowl TV. This can include geese (mostly of the Canadian variety), ducks, loons, swans, herons, and more.

  29. I'm so glad you commented on my FUNdraiser, CK! I couldn't remember the name of nip and bones and I wanted to get something from them too! Yes, Surf and Turf will be up and running live for about a month, but you know I never close any of them so it's always available! Now, off to nip and bones! :D

  30. Yep, our Bird TV has been pretty pawsome this year too. As long as the mom keeps the feeders filled.

  31. How exciting for you that you have great bird tv this year. I've had mostly only two channels this year (scrub jays and mockingbirds). The little finches seem to be missing and they're much softer on the ears.

  32. Good evening darling--Well, i can't really say "good," now can I? And I have to go BACK on the 21st to have a cleaning and worse, some extractions! My teefs are apparently a hot mess. AND they stole my bluds and my pee while I was ASLEEP! I thought our Governor had signed a consent law so that Peoples could not have their way with you when you were passed out. Right? Honestly, it's a damn outrage. I could use a little company. The blue pillow is vacant, hint hint.

  33. Wow, you get much more burd tv than we do. There are hardly any burds around here. I think Da Trouts of TabbiTowne scared them away.
