Wednesday Word of the Day: Giveaway

I have 10 of these Discovery
 boxes to give away!
OMC! I'm so excited to be hosting this giveaway! Last month I took part in the tasty taste test, involving Royal Canin's Selective line of foods. Now it's your turn. The wonderful peeps at Royal Canin saw my post and they've offered to provide Royal Canin Selective discovery boxes to 10 of my readers. Isn't that the best! The discovery boxes contain one aromatic sample bag, one savor sensation bag and one protein preference bag. Then you can hold your own taste test and let me know which one you preferred. I really loved the protein preference. When the three were presented to me together, I didn't touch the others. But after I finished that one, I gobbled the aromatic and savor up too.

Did you know that 85% of cats will find their preferred food among the Selective formulas, versus competing products that rely on a variety of flavors? The company wanted to find out what draws a cat to its food—is it taste, aroma or protein. I'll bet every single one of you is curious as to which one you'll choose. I have 10—count them TEN—Discovery boxes to give away. All you have to do is go to their site and tell me in your comment something you learn about cat nutrition and that you'd like to be entered. The contest will be open for 2 weeks and then I'll be using Random.org to pick my 10 winners. I sincerely apologize that this contest is only for cats living in the U.S.A. because of some lousy rule about shipping food overseas or something.

This Royal Canin Protein Preference is da bomb!

Disclosure: Royal Canin did not tell me what to say cos you know this little ghetto kitteh has her own mind and wouldn't listen anyway. They are supplying the prizes. I didn't receive any compensation, except for samples to conduct my taste test.

Would you like to comment?

  3. Hey CK! I learned that one of the objectives of proper nutrition for cats is food as energy. This is done by lipids and carbohydrates, which I am sure I need a lot of since I am so active! I would love to be entered in your giveaway. This is so very nice of you to do this.

  5. You are so cool Ck and so is that give-away! We will have to pass since we get sickly on food changes so we best not chance it!

  6. I would love to try this test on the cats here. We have many cats and so the food test would be very interesting. We learned that food as a medicine means that certain nutrients added to the food support the therapeudic process, helping pets to recover from a number of ailments. We are very interested in finding a food for a cat with allergies. She itches all the time. Thanks for this opportunity.

  7. I would love to be entered. I use Royal Canin anyway, their extra stinky dry fuds but I learned that I need fuds especially for mature girls such as myself at 14. I will make mommy look for some for mature diva's such as I am.

  8. What a great contest and opportunity. But, M says we have to pass because I gets sick easily too from fud changes.

  9. CK, we would like to have a chance to be entered in your drawing. Audrey will eat ANYTHING, but Simba is quite discriminating, and Mom would really like to try hi out on these Royal Canin varieties. Hey, we don't live THAT far away (just one state over) - maybe a secret rendezvous one night???

  10. Since I has awlreddy tried the sampler, I won't enter. But I think RC is really delishus nomz. Right now, I don't have any and my Human does not view this as an emergency which should send her off to PetSmart TONIGHT. She says, Yeah, Spitty, well, you've got plenty of other foodz. Just chill. You're not gonna starve. But, really, how does she know THAT??

    As if! XOXOXO

  13. I was surprised to learn that Cats are nibblers...I always thought they were gorgers, due to eating only after a successful hunt. Interesting!

  14. We would luf to be entered! There are many different needs at our house. The Mom didn't realize that lamb (as an example) is high in water content and after that is cooked off, there is efun less lamb than is listed! So, the labels are not really accurate.

  15. Interesting that the nutrients tyrosine and copper can intensify coat color. We would like to try thr sampler. Thank you for offering this.

  16. With our pets, I don't think we ever think of food as medicine. Humans take all kinds of OTC medicines and supplements to recover from ailments but there's only so much a cat can be allowed to take. I was surprised that the nutrients from their food is such an important part of the healing process. Please enter me and Topaz into your contest. I'm sure she'd like to sample some Royal Canin :-).

  17. I learned that nutrients can prevent digestive disorders! I've had my share of those MOL. I'd love to be entered in the contest. I wonder which kind I'll like best?

  18. Hi Cathy Keisha!

Thank you for your visit, and for your nice comment. :)

This sure is a neat giveaway. We went to the Royal Canin site, and were surprised to learn that indoor cats shed almost continuously because they are not exposed to things like temperature variations and changes in day length. Interesting!

  20. I am SELECTIVE kitty (not pickey like Mom and Dad say) MOL, we "learned" dat us indoor kitties foods need to consider:
•Reduced activity levels and a greater risk of obesity.
•Almost continual shedding because the cat is not exposed to natural coat growth regulators such as temperature variations and changes in day length.
    •Long and frequent grooming sessions.
•Increased importance of stool odor control.

  21. boy would we ever love to enter but we can't.

Actually Cody is on a STRICT Royal Canin Rabbit diet for over a year now. He has allergies and can't eat anything else. I feel kinda bad for him because every day it's rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. We eat Royal Canin Veterinary Formula Rabbit.....so we're screwed I guess. We can't enter :(

  25. Hiya CK!

The girl and I have been laying low this last week...that's why we've been incommunicado.

    COOL prize!!! Way to go!

Ok, here's my learning: Cat's are complicated. Ok, tell me something I don't already know!

Food as energy is the second objective of a cat's diet.
This is done through lipids and carbohydrates. Glogirly wants to know if donuts qualify as the carbs.

    JUST KIDDING!!!
    xo Katie

  26. Hello, my Sweet! I hope your poor Human is feeling better--mostly, of course, so that you don't have to suffer any interruption in service. You're lucky you have a spare Human around, CK. When my Human's feeling poorly, things can get a little grim around here. XOXOXO

  27. Hi CK, that is a cool giveaway. I go by texture and seem to like only certain shaped crunchies. My Human has had two crystal salt lamps going 24/7 for about 6 years now (before my time) and she loves them! PS: Thanks for saying you missed my handsome mug...we'll try to rectify that issue pronto!

  28. Mom's a little worried about changing foods on Candy cuz of her picky tummy, but I want to try new foods. So sign me up for the contest!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I gotta learn how to read directions! I forgot to say what I learned. I learned stinkerboy and I are supposed to have different foods cuz he's a meezer and I'm a Maine Coon. Combined with Candy's problems, that's gonna make feeding time furry interesting if Mom really tries to feed us 3 different foods!
