Welcome to the third month of Appreciate the Moments, a photo challenge which goes live the first Friday of each month with a new prompt. March's prompt is Lucky. I will be posting a lot of photos and not all of them will include The Cat. Likewise, not all of them are good but all were taken by cracked "photographer" TW.
I'm a lucky cat. Not just cos I have a forever home with lots of toys, cat trees, food and treats, love and a social media presence. There's more.
Some would say I'm lucky cos I can look out my window from my cat tree and see the New York City skyline. We get to see the fireworks over Central Park. Soon, though, they will begin work on the building next door which will disconnect my bird-tv and the peeps' skyline view.
On the 4th of July, we can see the Macy's fireworks from the courtyard.
The number one reason I'm a lucky cat is cos Pop can work from home. He doesn't make a ton of money but he has a pawsome job. He gets to meet all kinds of past and current NY politicians like Liz Holtzman, Michael Bloomberg and my favorite Jumaane Williams. He also gets to dine at such fine restaurants as Ciprianis, the NY Athletic Club and The Plaza. I'll have to ax if he's ever seen Eloise at The Plaza. [Ed. Note: No] His job also afforded him the opportunity to sit in a luxury box at Yankee Stadium and paid him to socialize kitties at Bideawee's NYC shelter. Can you believe he was voted "employee of the month" for February? Best of all, he gets to work from home. He calls those days "Take Your Cat to Work Day."
Thanks to Everyday Dog Mom and Dog Mom Days for hosting this challenge and blog hop. Do you have a photo that you'd like to share? Join us for the Appreciate the Moments blog hop! You can post and link up all week or you can join in April when the prompt appropriately enough will be Spring. Be sure to use hashtag #AppreciateTheMoments if you're sharing your photos on social media!
The Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted each and every week by 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader. They make up the fill-ins and I make up the answer. Each week my image relates to one of the fill-ins. This week it's #1, obviously.
1. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is The Cat in the Hat, of course. TW wasn't exactly a Dr. Seuss fan. I may have mentioned this before. She doesn't remember reading them as a child but knows Green Eggs and Ham cos R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe used to recite a part of it during concerts. Then again, she's blocked out most of her early childhood.
2. The most interesting person I have ever met is Pop. I haven't met that many peeps to be sure. TW tells me I met Aunt Pauline when I was very young and she's inneresting. Both TW and Pop have met tons of famous peeps. They both say that regular people are more inneresting than most famous ones.
3. Besides books by Dr. Seuss, TW's favorite book as a child was Jenny Lind and Her Listening Cat. She also loved Charlotte's Web; in fact, she still owns the hard-cover book.
4. Lately, I have been working on my poos. You read that right. All my life, I've poo'ed about four or five times a week. This month I've gone 23-5. I guess I like hearing the peeps sing The Poo Song although the lyrics have changed since I wrote that post. No, that can't be it.
Today is also Dr. Seuss Day. I let Facebook do all the work this year. They generated some Dr. Seuss quotes especially for me. I really like the second one. The first one defines me cos I'm always telling the peeps that I have questions and they better have answers. MOL!
Do you have a favorite Dr. Seuss quote?
Affiliate Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links. What does that mean? It means that if I’ve used a product and liked it, or it's a company I buy from and trust and they have affiliate programs, I sign up. Then, when I mention that product or company in one of my blog posts, I use my affiliate link. I thank you for clicking the links to help my treat fund.

ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ☺
You are one very lucky kitty. I love your view. It's great that the Dad can work from home. I read lots of Dr. Seuss growing up. I remember The King's Stilts, To Think that it Happened on Mulberry Street and the 1001 Hats of Bartholomew Baggins (? can't quite remember) the best.
ReplyDelete"...he gets to work from home. He calls those days "Take Your Cat to Work Day."..." LOL!

ReplyDeleteThis was a delightful post! I love Pops "Take your cat to work days" and that he helps socialize cats at the shelter... what a cool thing to do! They are right that regular people are often far more interesting and enjoyable than the famous/infamous ones.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have an amazing view of the city, and I hope the new building doesn't ruin it too badly.
The Cat in the Hat is a great book, and so are all the other Dr. Seuss books too, fun to read and easy to remember! I love the quotes that Google pulled up for you, especially that last one, most things end at some point, but if we have good memories, we get to keep a piece of them forever!
You are a very lucky kitty. Great photo of you and your Pop. Has he ever gotten to eat at Raos? His job does sound like it has good perks, especially getting to be home with you. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I had the same for #1 and I love Charlotte's Web too. I need to look up Jenny Lind and her Listening Cat. Good luck with the poo. Have a nice weekend. XO
ReplyDeleteI love that second quote--it comes in handy when you are tearing up thinking of a pet who has passed on! thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteWe are very lucky kitties, aren't we? Mommy can work from home too. I wish she would do it more often. Maybe she doesn't because I don't lay nicely beside her like you do, I have to be right on top of her forcing her to type sideways with the laptop on the couch. --Mudpie
ReplyDeleteWe didn’t realize your Pop had such a great job! How lucky for him to be able to work at home. Happy Dr. Seuss Day!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of you looking up at your Pop. He does have a great job to be able to work at home with you.
ReplyDeleteButterfly 🦋 here: That was a fun post CK, Dr Seuss would be stunned for sure! Here’s a quote I like: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” And we received the package yesterday but Mom hasn’t opened it yet. She says it’s my first package wif my name and wants to take pictures when I open it. Hugs n Purrs from Butterfly🦋 & AngelSmokey8 (Musings Meows & Memories) 💕😽
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view! You are definitely one lucky cat to get to have your Pops working from home, wouldn't every pet love to always have their peeps home with them?
ReplyDeleteJan & the crew at Wag 'n Woof Pets
That was a very informative post, CK. It was fun reading about your lucky life with Pop and TW.
ReplyDeleteDr Suess was a wise man. We like the second quote especially.

Your love for your Pop sure shows through this post!!! You are lucky to have your Pop and TW to love and to be loved by!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Lots of great moments at Chez CK. Enjoy the view while you can.
ReplyDeleteYou are super duper lucky, for sure, CK! Please tell Pop we all said concatulations on being Employee of the Month!
ReplyDeleteYou are one lucky kitty, CK, and that makes us so very happy for you! And we just love seeing the bond you and your Pop share. Oh, and The Poop Song sounds like it would make for a great theme song.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your dad has a pawsome job ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteYou know we read your posts but don't usually comment until the weekend as we reads them on the tablet. Sometimes we think of comments and sometimes we painstakingly make them with one finger. And you know what...we remember thinking of the bestest comment ever for this post...thought about making and accidentally dropped the tablet and lost the comment and now we can't remember what it was and nothing we could say now would live up to it. All we can say is CK YOU ROCK!
ReplyDeletepurrs Marv
What a cool job!
ReplyDeleteYou are one lucky kitty.
Have a super weekend...

When the human works from home, it is the best! You are lucky to have your dad home with you, when he is not out and about NY City.
ReplyDeleteOur human is now homesick for NYC! You live there ya never forget it! We used to live in NYC too (we didn't know her then), and our luckiness is that we escaped NYACC! So we guess we're glad to be in CT. But our human still misses NY.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a beautiful life, CK and to be at work together with your Pop, is just amazing :D I don't know what to think about that poo...maybe your peeps better stop singing...MOL :D Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead :) <3
ReplyDeleteGreat post, my furry friend. Chloe Jo has litter box issues...no, really they are physical issues. Nothing works right for her. She uses Miralax, now (vet recommended). And, it has helped her tremendously. I mix it every morning and she is takes it well.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that your pop works from home! I do too and it's absolutely the best. I think more and more companies are open to that idea now. "Take Your Cat to Work Day" is every day, yay!
