Going Beddy-Bye in the Condo

I'm on TW's window sill tonight to tell you about our bedtime routine. TW for some odd reason refers to it as "beddy-bye-bye" like she thinks I'm a baby or I have learning disabilities. I believe it was Summer who first wrote about the bedtime rituals at her house. It inspired a lot of kitties to post about theirs, too. Dunno if much is different in the condo. Let's see.

TW works at the computer until Pop kicks her off goes to bed. Since he gets up around 6 a.m. to go to work in the morning, he turns in at about 10:30. I head into the family room with TW. She halfheartedly sees if I want to play and then ignores me goes to do the crossword puzzles and sudoku in the newspaper. When she goes into her bathroom to wash, I'm usually on the pink gym sleeping. At some point when I hear her wringing out the washcloth, we'll play the water game in the bathroom.

Right before she decides to turn in, she'll feed me again. If I ate good all day, she'll open a small 1-oz. pouch of something like Hartz Delectable Chowder. If I didn't eat much, she'll open a can of a food other than Fancy Feast and give me half of it. She has a theory that if I get liquids before bed, I won't wake up coughing cos my throat and windpipe are dry. After I eat, I go in and pay a visit to Pop to see if he's asleep. TW hates this cos she'll have the bathroom light on and she knows the light will wake him. Note to TW: it doesn't. When Pop is sawing wood, nothing can wake him.

Finally, sometime between 12 and 2 a.m., she makes herself a cup of some kind of chamomile tea cos she thinks it makes her fall asleep faster. But wait! The Cat has other ideas!

The Cat has emerged from Pop's room and is crying in the foyer near the kitchen. She wants to be walked to her dry food. The lights have been turned off so TW will have to come in armed only with a flashlight. I love this! Tail-a firma, I'll lead her to my kibble dish and wait for her to pet me. I get three strokes while I eat. This step will be repeated two or three more times or someone will get bitten.

I may or may not viciously attack her ankles on the way back to bed—CK: Women, you take that word "viciously" out of there! That's not true! TW: Yes it is!—depending on how I feel and if I want to get locked out of her room.  That's a story for another day.

She'll head back to bed—TW: after patching up my wounds. CK: There aren't any wounds!—and once again The Cat will start crying and so on and so forth into the night.

Eventually, I'll jump into bed and we'll sleep happily ever after. The end.
