TW works at the computer until Pop
Right before she decides to turn in, she'll feed me again. If I ate good all day, she'll open a small 1-oz. pouch of something like Hartz Delectable Chowder. If I didn't eat much, she'll open a can of a food other than Fancy Feast and give me half of it. She has a theory that if I get liquids before bed, I won't wake up coughing cos my throat and windpipe are dry. After I eat, I go in and pay a visit to Pop to see if he's asleep. TW hates this cos she'll have the bathroom light on and she knows the light will wake him. Note to TW: it doesn't. When Pop is sawing wood, nothing can wake him.
Finally, sometime between 12 and 2 a.m., she makes herself a cup of some kind of chamomile tea cos she thinks it makes her fall asleep faster. But wait! The Cat has other ideas!
The Cat has emerged from Pop's room and is crying in the foyer near the kitchen. She wants to be walked to her dry food. The lights have been turned off so TW will have to come in armed only with a flashlight. I love this! Tail-a firma, I'll lead her to my kibble dish and wait for her to pet me. I get three strokes while I eat. This step will be repeated two or three more times or someone will get bitten.
I may or may not
She'll head back to bed—TW: after patching up my wounds. CK: There aren't any wounds!—and once again The Cat will start crying and so on and so forth into the night.
Eventually, I'll jump into bed and we'll sleep happily ever after. The end.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |
How come so many kitties' bedtime rituals include food - and mine doesn't! At least, not if I'm relying on my human. Her boyfriend doles out treats, but more often then not I miss them.
ReplyDeleteI like how you're in control CK!
ReplyDeleteYour routine is a good one, even the food is good CK!

That's a great routine, CK ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take to get TW so well-trained, CK? Did you use your pearly whites to help her learn all of those obedient tricks?
ReplyDeleteQuite the routine, CK! If the wet food before bed works, then that's terrific!
ReplyDeleteMy Mommy and TW are wandering the halls armed with only a flashlight at the same hours of the night! --Mudpie
ReplyDeleteCK you totally crack me up!!! I have about 15 snacks before bed MOL! Love, Cody catchatwithcarenandcody
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got your routine down just how it should be. You in charge!
ReplyDeleteThat’s quite the bedtime ritual you have, CK. Sounds like you have TW trained well.
ReplyDeleteThat is one elaborate ritual, CK. And it sounds like TW helps just like you've trained her to!
ReplyDeleteYeah, my woman puts down more kibble for me at bedtime, too and she puts some yummy powder (fortiflora - ed.) on top. One time she didn't; I sniffed, looked at her, and sat down to wait. She got the message; it didn't happen again. She keeps saying I need to eat more. I do get up to eat a couple of times during the night. Then I stand on her hair until she holds up the covers for me to get under. She trains easily.
ReplyDeleteWe get noms before bed, too!
ReplyDeleteOur routine is quite boring compared to yours. And is doesn't include food!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a complicated bedtime routine. But hey, whatever works for you!
ReplyDeleteI always used to say "Beddy Byes" to Flynn and he would race on ahead of us to get the best spot on the bed.
ReplyDeleteBwa! Haa!! Haaa!!! That is the best Beddy-Bye story ever!
ReplyDeleteI so love to learn about how other cats go to bed!
