It's time once again for a look-see into the pamphlet Happy Cat Happy You. These quick tips for building a bond with your feline friend are compiled by the authors at the Catnip Newsletter for Tufts Institute. This is a series that I'm running which is not sponsored by anyone. I'm just offering my stunning opinions.
Tip #5. Schedule Play Sessions. It says cats are most active at dawn and dusk which is very true. I can't find fault with that. I can only find fault that we have to write out a schedule to play. I'm a spontaneous cat.
There are other times this playful kitteh likes to play. They are mainly when TW sits down to eat breakfast (about noonish) and lunch (four-ish). As soon she she sits, I'm off to the races cos I know—to use a much overused cliché—that TW has to "strike while the iron is hot." I don't play when she wants to or by her rules so she best play by mine IF she wants me to exercise. We play chase until I see something inneresting out the window and stop to look.

Another time I want to play is when she sits down on her litter box. HAH! She's taken to keeping some cat things in there that she can toss me. Of course, that doesn't work when all I want to do is run through my tunnels while she chases me.
This little ghetto kitteh may be pushing 12 years old but I'm not finished yet. I have lots of energy left in me. I just need TW to keep up with me. It goes without saying that I play for keeps.
Lately, my favorite time to play has been about 2 AM, when my human wants to go to bed! Heh, if she had played with me earlier, maybe I wouldn't be so revved up.

ReplyDeleteLOL, Goro likes to play when I sit down for meal, too :-) And when I sit down on toilet! You kitties know the most inconvenient times for humans, don't you, hahaha.

I love your tunnel CK. I couldn't take my eyes off it. Ours has several bite and claw marks in it but it is super long and a great place to hide. You playing with your mouse was awesome. The quick as lightening moves had me guessing where the mouse went. Very entertaining.

You are still quite the active cat, CK! We like to play with the Neko Fly, but the Mom often forgets about it. We gotta remind her to get it out more often!

Are you and Bear Cat related? Your views of your Moms are very similar, your bite-y natures ... and this play thing. Bear likes to be chased around or play on his own terms ... which essentially means me playing with a cat toy and him watching :p Except for his micey ... he'll flip them all over the place.

My kitties are right there with you, CK. They say that schedules are for those silly folk. They play what they want, when they want, how they want, and for as long as they want. This human is just along for the ride. (And trust me, CK, you're not the only kitty who takes advantage of a human's litter box time...)
