Dona Nobis Pacem

I’m honored once again to be a peace blogger. For this, my fifth year participating in BlogBlast for Peace, my Peace Globe is dedicated to the great men and women who have dedicated their lives to the cause of peace. I’m including quotes by a few of them. This is in no way inclusive so don’t get insulted if your favorite peace quote isn’t included. BlogBlast for Peace was started in 2006 by Mimi Lenox. She wanted to know what would happen if all bloggers everywhere signed their name across an Earth globe and posted about peace on the SAME DAY with the title Dona Nobis Pacem.

A few weeks ago, Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries & Meows axed me to list three of my most favorite quotes. I’ve struggled for the past few weeks trying to think of how to narrow all these wonderfully quotable people down to three. Then I remembered: I don’t follow no stinking rules so I’m gonna quote a bunch of people.

I’m ending this post with a tribute to a remarkable man who’s spirit embodied all the above people. If you needed a place to stay, he opened up his home. If you needed a hand, he’d hire you in the store he owned. If you needed a ride home, he’d drive you. If you needed to talk, he’d listen. TW’s friend Michael Carlucci passed away last Thursday. If you need proof as to what a remarkable man he was, just read the tributes and testimonials on his Facebook page.

TW first met Michael when she was a fledgling rock writer given the assignment to innerview his band, Winter Hours. Over the years she innerviewed him many times and they became friends who she saw often with his band and at the record store he owned. He was always innerducing her to new (sometimes old) music that she may have missed—Nick Drake for instance. They shared musical tastes and would trade tapes and videos.  His kindheartedness didn’t just apply for friends but family and friends of friends also. TW hadn’t seen him in about ten years but he always kept in touch on FB. She’ll always have the memories and the music to remember him by. She wants me to share a song with you now.
