Battle of Wits

Battle of Wits

If you saw my post Saturday, you’d know I love kibble. I’m passionate about it. In jail the shelter I was fed kibble exclusively. On the other hand, TW has never liked to serve her cats kibble even before she knew how bad it was for us. We compromise. I get a quarter of a cup of kibble twice a week so I can nosh at night after my wet food gets picked up.

She rotates the kibble I get—both the brand and the protein. I’ve been getting quite a bit of the Natural Balance Wild Pursuit lately—yes, I do eat the foods I review—which I really like. I also get some Nutrish and my absolute fave Chicken Soup for the Soul. Last night she carefully measured out some CSFtS and scooped it into my dish thinking I wouldn’t know she did it.

Battle of Wits
This morning bright and early she gave me some gut rot. I took one sniff and headed straight for the kibble. The second time she saw me do this, she picked up the kibble dish and put it up on the counter knowing I haven’t jumped on the counter since my first month in the condo. It’s always been safe up there cos counter surfing isn’t my thing. She thought she was swift by putting the gut rot where the kibble is supposed to be.

The next time I went into the kitchen, I sniffed the gut rot and headed straight on the counter to eat something I really love. She was shocked! I had outsmarted her! She ran for the flashy box cos she figured I’d run like hell but I didn’t. I continued to eat and enjoy my kibble. I won this round! I’m the winner and still champ!!

[Ed. note: Not so fast, CK! Guess who poured the few remaining pieces of kibble into the garbage bag? It’s for your own good to eat food that contains moisture. You win when you eat your wet food. You’ll stay a healthy stunning kitteh. FYI, what I gave you wasn’t “gut rot.” It was the Weruva Tuna and Pumpkin Valentine that you won from your furrends Truffle and Brulee. You wolfed it down like it was the best food ever last week. In fact, you ate it yesterday. Thank you Truffle and Brulee.]

[CK note:  Sorry I dissed the food, Truffle and Brulee. I’ll eat it next time. Two can play at this game, Woman! If I had thumbs, I’d throw out all your stupid ice cream and chips and candy that you’re not supposed to eat cos they raise your blood pressure, triglycerides and cholesterol. How would you like that?]

[Ed. note: You don’t. No thumbs for kitty.]

Ha! When a kitty wants something, she goes out and gets it! Any efforts by humans to stop this are generally futile.

Dat lack of thumbs are da root of most of my problems.

Love your bowl ! My cats only eat wet food and dryfood is available all the time in a bigger bowl, in case they are a little hungry during the day or night.

MOL, CK. Carmine will woof something down one day and turn his nose up at it the next, too. It drives me (the Mom) crazy. Please eat your canned noms - they are good for you. <3

This post had me in fits. Thank you CK and TW! Currently our Harvey is not eating anything much (except treats so I know he's not sickening for something - if he eats treats!!) he is throwing a CK!!

Well done CK! When it's something you love, it is worth going after especially when it is some place you shouldn't be.

You are my type of girl CK. Us girls love our kibble but have the same problem....not enough of a good thing. We wake mom up when it gets down....Kali goes first and taps her on the shoulder. I run around her pillow...she has taken to saying, "Go away" and pulling the covers up.

I get 1/4 cup of kibble a day in addition to one whole can of wet food. M also knows I drink lots of water, so she's not too worried about me. I beg for kibble - ever since I arrived in this house. She has talked with the vet about this a few times, and vet lady said it would be okay for me since I do drink a lot of water plus get it in the wet food.

Mudpie much prefers her kibble too, but I have found a wet food that she will eat everyday so we compromise. She's a good drinker too so that helps. We're so proud of you for jumping up on the counter too!!!

Brulee prefers the kibble too but will eat the Weruva, Wellness, and a couple more brands but Mom Paula rotates it each day,

You may not have thumbs, but you will find a way to seek revenge :)

The counter? That's no object to a determined kitty!

Hehe, a cat just needs kibble sometimes. My human tries to get me to eat "new" foods and usually I just turn my nose.

CK, I eat on the counter all the time. And no matter how much the mom wants me to eat wet food...which I do...I always insist on some kibble afterwards. I won't stop bugging her until I get some. ~Wally

You two have quite the contest going on there. I guess I'm lucky. I get fed canned food for breakfast and dinner, but always have dry food available too. I eat whichever I prefer.

We love our kibble as well. We get some stinky goodness in the morning and at night, but there is always kibble around. Some of us just don't like the wet food, and Mom doesn't want us to starve. She knows it's bad for us, but we have her well-trained. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Athena loves her kibble too. She just won't touch wet and I'm currently trying out different flavours and brands (and wasting money but my baby is worth it.) She has me well-trained :)
