Coloring Nature
When was the last time I went out and strolled through a nature path? When was the first time? Nature is our challenge this week and I’ll be hard-pressed to find an image of me enjoying nature. I could depict myself being nice but I’m naughty by nature. Heh heh.
You might notice I’m not in the official featured snapshot—and don’t think TW isn’t gonna pay for that. She says this is one of her favorite pics that she ever took of any of the cats. Of course it has to be Nicky back when he was allowed outside. It was taken in the back yard of the old house.
My close encounters with nature have all been from the window.
One time a butterfly came up to see me. Unfortunately, TW didn’t get any good pics of either of us. She may have been more excited than I was. It’s that pointy thing on the left of the window.
Thanks to Christina and The Lazy Pit Bull for hosting the 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge this week and every week throughout 2015. For those who would like to participate, next week’s theme is Favorite.
I decided to do something fun for my art. I don’t know that anyone’s tried this. Adult coloring books have become all the rage. TW always thought that image of Nicky in the garden would be a great image to color so we created one in Photoshop. It was trés easy. Go to Filters then Sketch and then Photocopy. You can play with the sliders until you get the darkness and detail you like. We don’t have an adult coloring book so we weren’t sure which you’d prefer. I made a darker one and lighter one. You can click on your favorite to biggify and download. Happy coloring.
If you color them, I’d love to see them. Please share on my FB page or any social media.
Many thanks to Athena and Marie for hosting the Caturday Art Blog Hop every week. Stop by the see some creative anipals strutting their newest art images.

Ah, my sweet lovely girl! The Human has been terribly preoccupied with Human things recently and neglecting all my needs (well, she *does* feed me and play with me, but honestly, I might as well not even *have* my bloggy!) I love your rear-view photos this evening! XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI've been outside lots, but I'm not sure if that counts as being in nature - everywhere I go has pretty much been city, even the green parts! Love the coloring art today!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that! I didn't even know you could do that in photoshop.
ReplyDeleteRosie feels your pain about the nature thing. We lived in an apartment for a long time and she didn't see much except birds flying by. Fortunately, now we are in a house with low windows so she does get to see the occasional chipmunk or squirrel dart by the window.
Aw CK that is an awesome almost butterfly..but i think the image of you safe inside is pretty good too :) and yes colouring books for big peeps are all the rage..to stop rage i think hahahaah :) hugs Fozziemum xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea for a coloring book! I just got my Mom, who turned 73, a coloring book of medallions and a set up beautiful colored pencils. I don't think your ever too old to color! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey Gang
ReplyDeleteThe original photo is amazing. All the different colors of the beautiful flowers really pop. Our mom absolutely loves to color. Her favorite coloring book is her Kliban Cat one. She says she will definitely print this so she can have fun coloring it sometime this winter when its too cold to go outside. Hope to see you for Sunday Selfies tomorrow. ReplyDeleteThose are all great CK and I'm pretty sure outside in nature is overrated!
ReplyDeleteColouring is a great way to calm down humans. Mum uses it often with her pupils : she gives them mandalas. You turned your photo in a very cool art with the photocopy effect ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteThat's great! We heard about the colouring books for adults and think they are a wonderful idea :)
ReplyDeletePurrs xx

CK our Mom has been known to chase the butterflies around with her camera. She uses a macro lens and you have to get close to the subject with it. It's a real show, letteme tell ya to watch as she dashes from flower to flower with the butterfly. We loved your art today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Caturday!

Very nice art. My kitties only get nature from the window too. I just got a mini coloring book for adults with kitties in it :)
ReplyDeleteThe photo if Nicky in the garden is really beautiful. Love all the colorful flowers and green leaves with Nicky in the middle. What a fun idea to create adult coloring book image. Both look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful photo of Nicky enjoying nature. I've been out in the yard a few time, but it's not something I crave. I prefer watching, hearing, and smelling nature from an open window.

You're coloring photo is very cool! Great job! We don't get outside at all, either.
ReplyDeleteI like the colouring idea CK, it took me a moment to discover the kitty in the picture (DUH!!) what a totally clever idea!!
ReplyDeleteLooking out the window is as close as I get to nature as well and I prefer it that way. You look quite cute looking out your window and looking at that butterfly (is it ok to say you're cute?). The picture of Nicky in the garden is beautiful! What a neat idea to make it a coloring book page!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun....Mom is afraid to try the coloring....it could end up being another addiction for her.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Good one, CK! The mom doesn't want to try coloring this...she has difficulty staying in the lines. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great picture of Nicky. M used to like to color, but she is too shaky one to do it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, CK! Glogirly has always LOVED coloring.
ReplyDeleteNicky is such a sweetie.... we love that picture of her.
That's pretty cool! The Staff has one of those so-called adult colouring books but she's too scared to do anything coz she can't keep her hand from shaking! Too much of the old jonnick I reckon ;) that first picture is terrific CK, sorry to upset you and all!!! ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteYou need to come and be a Farm cat CK. Then you get to see a lot of nature. Maybe eat some too.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic and loved learning about how to create a coloring book photo; thanks! Nicky is a beauty. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture! It's tempting to color it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI may have to print it out and get my colored pencils...
