Waiter, There’s a Carrot in my Tuna! #WellnessPetFood

Last week I had the privilege of checking out a new natural food restaurant in town. I was invited by the owner of the Cafe Wellness to sample some of their simple but elegant fare. He sent me a copy of their menu to whet my appetite. Restaurant critic CK has never had the opportunity to try Wellness® cat food so I was excited to have the chance to sample some today.

The ambiance was inviting as I settled into my window seat. What a wonderful view! But I didn’t come to watch Bird tv, I came to dine.

I started with an appetizer from the Complete Health menu. I was pleased to read that everything on the menu is made with naturally GMO-free ingredients. The menu also mentioned that the dry kibble excluded meat by-products, wheat, corn, soy and artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. What should I choose? There’s Deboned Chicken, Chicken Meal & Rice, Salmon, Salmon Meal & Deboned Turkey as well as recipes for kittens, senior cats, healthy weight and two formulas for indoor health.

After much debate, I settled on the salmon crunchies. Was I in for a treat! When it arrived—and the service is marvelous—I didn’t waste time savoring its rich aroma. I didn’t even take time to read the benefits of this formula which boosts the immune system, promotes healthy muscle tone and contains omega fatty acids to support skin and coat health, I dug right in. A big plus for me is I love cranberries and this formula says its the triple cranberry blend. The portion was huge and I stuffed myself—maybe too much as I didn’t save room for the main course.

The entree menu had more choices. I was here to sample the Divine Duos line. This grain-free line comes in 6 tasty varieties combining poultry, seafood and meat. You can see all the choices by biggifying the menu below. For a cat such as myself who doesn’t drink liquids, the 85% moisture level will see it that I keep hydrated. They serve two layers of different textures in one convenient plastic cup with easy-peel lid. Everything looked so good.

Being a pescatarian, I chose the tuna and salmon. I eagerly licked the sauce from the diced salmon, carefully pushing aside the chunks of carrot that was visible. While I didn’t chose to eat the pâté or the diced salmon, I still give the Tuna Divine Duos 4 stars. Why 4 stars? Usually, when something new is placed in front of me, I turn around and walk away or simply scrap the place mat. I licked the gravy which means this entree met with my approval. Perhaps, the next time, I’ll indulge in more of the fish.

I recommend Wellness® Complete Health and Divine Duos cause they provide complete nutrition for cats from the inside out. I don’t recomment feeding your cat a diet of only kibble but it makes a wonderful appetizer or treat for us before we dig into the Divine Duos. Before TW feeds me stinky goodness, I always have a few pieces of kibble as my first course and it’s nice to know that my new kibble is GMO free.

  3. I spit out all the peas in that Spot's Stew Halo cat food. The rest of it's pretty good.

The Human would LIKE me to eat Wellness. She's bought different flavors several times, but so far it's not a hit. I eat a can once in awhile, but then I'm done with it for months. Who knows? I like to keep her on her toes.

Hope your Humans are feeling better, darling. Do you need help caring for them?

  5. That sounds very tasty. I only get a very few kibbles too and my main diet is wet food. I am like you and leave any carrot I find, and spinach and peas. Veggies, Yuk!

  10. Great review...very creative...I love it!
I'm also glad to see that our Sam isn't the only one that likes to lick the gravy out of the food (though she did eat the pate part as well and only left behind the chunks).

  12. CK your review was very creative! I love the way you reviewed the food like it was a restaurant review.

We do the same thing with food that isn't pate - we lick off the gravy and leave the chunks. Drives mom crazy (short drive, MOL).

  18. Well I must say you make that food sound intriguing....I'm a super picky eater and I'd probably enjoy some of those things - Mom hasn't seen that brand in our grocery BUT I think the pet store has it. Maybe I'll give it a whirl. Good review CK!!

  27. OMC!! We had to eat off the floor to try this new delish dish. Yet, you, who live within sight of NYC, you were given the privilege of dining al fresco at a chic table near an open air window...you are so incredibly amazing BFGF...but then I always knew that
