Usually when it starts to storm in the middle of the night I jump into Pop’s bed. I know he's gonna protect me. I feel safe—not that I've ever been a-scared of thunder or fireworks.
The other night strong storms were predicted. The storms started in the early evening before the peeps went to bed. The lights were on so I stayed with TW in the living room hoping for some playtime. This was a beaut. We usually don’t get these types of severe storms here. You know the type with torrential rain and continuous flashes of lightning and claps of thunder that seem to roll right in the window.
One clap of thunder was so loud it seemed like it hit something close. TW let out a piercing scream that it’s still ringing in my ears. I was calm and so was Pop. After that thunder TW was actually shaking and crying. Can you believe it? I had to calm TW until I decided to leave to visit Pop.
She claimed she wouldn’t have been so scared if we didn’t live on the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in the area and we weren’t on the top of a cliff but I think she was making up excuses. Na mean? Chizzy wrote that she was just as scared in the old house. I'm gonna have to ax Mr. Google about human thunder shirts. I can't have TW's screams piercing the night and scaring the neighbors.
In your house, are you more scared of storms or is your human?
I heard that the storms in your area were actually REALLY bad! We had a small thunderstorm while we were in Chicago and my human was worried it would frighten me because we never get them in our area, but I wasn't bothered. Yours sounds kind of scary though.
ReplyDeleteThunderstorms can be very scary, CK. Granny's mom, who's in heaven now, was scared of it too, always! She always hid herself on the ground of the ground floor. (They lived on the first floor and had a shop downstairs.) I, the Binky, am the scared one of thunderstorms. COOL Pawkisses for a wonderful day🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteThis is Jake, black cat extraordinaire. My dog Dixie isn't bothered by thunder or fireworks, but my human, she really HATES them. She wears her headphones and blasts her music. I hate to say it, but she's a real scaredy cat, well, she wishes she was a cat. 😸
ReplyDeleteCK, as a child, I would grab an umbrella and go sit outside in the rain! I watch the sky for thunderstorms, and snap photos of clouds and rainbows, and don't get me started on the night sky too! I worry about Angel, who really hates storms and fireworks, but I love me a good boomy, wind wiping, rain slashing storm!
ReplyDeletePumpkin here. EK's the scaredy cat in our house. He doesn't like the wind in the vents or rain or hail hitting the windows. We all get scared of the hail, even mom. She's afraid a window's gonna break. But for some reason, thunder doesn't bother us.
ReplyDeleteI hope TW is ok now. Storms can be very scary.
None of us here like thunderstorms and lightening ever since the bolt hit our house and blew up some things.

The kitties in our house are braver than me during thunderstorms. I like to hide under the blankets. My two cats just stare out the window to watch the rain falling. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful day.

I'm definitely more scared than Mudpie, and if I lived on the top floor of a tall building I would be a basketcase!
ReplyDeleteI always get scared during storms. A thunder shirt for humans is a good idea- get inventing :) XO
ReplyDeleteThe storms have been crazy scary lately, CK. Our mom and dad need some human thundershirts, too!
ReplyDeleteWe don't like thunderstorms, and we cannot understand our stupid humans who enjoy watching lightenings with admiring "ohhh" and "ahhh". Purrs
ReplyDeleteI feel for TW! I am scared of thunderstorms too and always have been. We had a massive one on Tuesday night. I rushed around unplugging everything and hid under the duvet. Flynn used to join me, but Eric would sit at the window and watch it.
ReplyDeleteOur power was out yesterday morning but was back by midday. The internet didn't come back until the evening.
I unplug everything because when we had a landline the phone often got fried during storms.
I sit in the window and watch the lightshow. My humans love storms. Ragamuffin used to hide but now she's taking a hint from the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteWe rarely ever get storms like that, but no one in this house is afraid of them, human, cat or dog! I hope TW has recovered!
