CK's Gone Buggy

Hola kitties! Breaking news! I've gone buggy! HAH! No need for alarm. It's a freebie week on Music Monday and I'm picking a topic near and dear to most cats—insects aka bugs. Being on the fourth floor and having window screens, we don't see many bugs in the condo. Just some moths and the occasional spider—both of which are very tasty and highly recommended treats. But things were different in the old house the peeps lived in.

CK's Gone Buggy

I'm participating in this week's Music Moves Me blog hop co-hosted by Curious as a Cathy.

Every Spring would bring the ant invasion in the old house. Adam would be proud. Some years the invasion took place in the bathroom; some years it was around Nicky's litter box. The worst was the year they got into TW's bed where a certain male cat slept every night. Adam was an ant that seemed to have female humans swooning.

During the Summer we can hear the sounds of cicadas rubbing their wings together in a joyful melody. Here's a foot-stomping song by a duo from Athens, GA, which was produced by R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe.

I've read in the journals of the cats who came before me the lore of the epic fly invasion in the old house. No one knows how they got in but there were hunnerts of them. The peeps would kill one on the window only to look and see two or three others. This went on until they opened the spare room door and saw swarms of them all over the walls. Too many for even the resident cat to keep up with. I have two fly songs to mark that epic invasion.

I've never seen a wasp but TW was once stung by one which had gotten into a comforter she had on the floor. Syssiknife got stung too but that was outside. She was a stray who the peeps tried to take inside but she hated it. TW took it upon herself to cut and drain Syssi's sting which had no lasting affects but the back porch was splattered with blood and it wasn't TW's.

Of course there are hunnerts of other songs with insects in the title: "Elusive Butterfly of Love," "Birds & the Bees," etc.

There are some insects that cats don't like; in fact we hate them. I'm talking fleas, ticks and ear mites. I can't believe a human chili pepper would name himself Flea. I guess he didn't like animals or he was a pest. There are other bands named after bugs like the Insect Trust, Iron Butterfly, the Beatles and the Roches although the last two don't know how to spell.

Hope you enjoyed my selections. What's your favorite bug or buggy song?

  2. C.K., That's a lot of songs our mom never heard before. She did like the cicada one...it was Zydeco-ish! Mom and Dad's second cat, Steamer, was stung by a bee and her paw swelled up the size of a catcher's mitt, according to Mom. We get ants every spring, so now Mom keeps all our food on the second floor. Hope you find some tasty, buggy treats this spring. 3. Keisha (Cathy),

Cool theme! I wouldn't have thought of this one. When I first read the title, I thought it said, I have a bug and I was thinking now this is a neat way to work your song choices in for 'your choice song picks' week. lol All of your songs picks are introductions which is super duper! I like it when I get exposed to new tunes. :)

I don't like bugs. We have spiders and occasionally other little pests find their way into our home. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week and here's to the buggy season again!

  4. We have ant invasion from time to time, but fortunately they haven't come to bed so far! It's good you haven't seen wasps and I hope you will never...!

  5. Oooo, that buggie music was AWESOME! It'll be bug-time around here in May and the ants come back in April. Our Mom's already buying up ant traps and caulking baseboards to walls and floors. She's very determined this year to keep those teensy toys of ours OUT!

  6. Those are great music choices. I had only heard of Adam and the Ants before. We used to get inundated with ants in the summer, then last year I found ant bait traps. I put one in the cupboard where they were coming in and after 1 day I haven't seen an ant indoors since! It is the only thing I have found that really works.

  7. CK I am real good at pointing out (well actually "nosing" out) bugs in the house. Mom knows when I am on the hunt for one. I just point it out, I never try to eat it or anything. Now if a lizard gets in Jinx will attack it and swat it and "play" with it, until it no longer moves. But, Mom is not found of bugs at all, and in FL we have a ton of bugs.

  15. You have some pretty good picks here, CK. Sorry TW was stung. The housekeeper can't handle a bee sting. She goes into a mild shock. A bug song favorite would be Heart's Dog and Butterfly..Tom x

  16. Thanks for stopping by & your wonderful comment! Only thing is love the cat hissing at that disgusting bug! You have no idea how much I truly HATE BUGS! THEY'RE GROSSER THAN GROSS! ICK! ALL I CAN SAY about bugs is I am allergic to Bee Stings so I just stay away from all bugs. I even swell up really bad to any bug bite and spider bites I've had to go to the doctor and get special medicine for those and unfortunately my son has picked up my flare for being allergic to these buggers! ICK..... Thanks for stopping by and rockin' the house! Woo Hoo hugs........

  17. Yep, bugs can be very entertaining for cats! Every once in a while, we'll get a cricket inside. If it makes it past the cats, it sings its happy song and is super loud and annoying! And we agree, Flea is such a weird name to pick!

  18. I hate being stung. One time is more than enough. My cats are good at pointing bugs out to me. And I usually find them before they lose legs ;)

  19. Now I understand all about the theme, CK...those flies sure are flying high :D I am a Butterfly Ball girl, Roger Glover and Danyel Gérard and grasshoppers too, but sure like Adam Ant too. Pawkisses for a Swinging Wednesday 🐾😽💞

  20. Our furbabies go crazy (cats and dogs) chasing after any flying critters, it's starting to warm up so we've seen a few flies appear and get chased. Hopefully when the bees come out, the furbabies leave them alone - sorry TW got stung!!

Loved your creative song choices! :) Thanks for the dance!
