DJCK Spins Some Tunes to Clear the Room

DJCK IS ME! That is how I used to begin each set at Twitter pawties. OK, if you want to get tecnical CATHY KEISHA IS ME! is how I began each set. Before I get to Music Monday, I wanna tell you about the near-death experience I had. This may leave me scarred for life or I may suffer from PTSD.

DJCK Spins Some Tunes to Clear the Room

I just received a new cube to review. Some of you might know the one I'm talking about. It's nice and warm but I happen to like it better without the pillow inside. I was playing with TW on Sunday. She was running her hand along the outside of the cube and I was diving inside to attack her hand when suddenly the cube attacked me. It grabbed my claw and wouldn't let go!

DJCK Spins Some Tunes to Clear the Room
Trying to relax after my ordeal.
I couldn't get free and started struggling mightily. TW tried gently holding the cube and shaking it slightly to see if the evil cube would let me go. It wouldn't. My head was inside and I was getting frantic! I panicked more cos TW screaming for Pop to come help me. He was in the other room with water running and didn't hear. I struggled with the cube and then both me and cube fell off the bed. I blindly started running through the room, growling and hissing, still half in the cube. I tried to get under the bed and finally I yanked hard enough that the killer cube let me go. I thought I was going to die. Oh, when I finally got free, Pop came in. Captain Daredevil let me down. Not long after, I was jumping up and down off the bed and running but the peeps will continue to watch me.

I'm alive and so I give you Music Monday. During our monthly Pawpawties and Nipclub fundraiser pawties, we always had spam bots. I'm happy to report that rarely during my DJ hour did any bots dare to show their faces. I had a couple of songs I'd always play that would send them running for their lives.

DJCK Spins Some Tunes to Clear the Room

Once again I'm joining the Mewsic Movies Me blog hop over at Curious as a Cathy. This week is a free-for-all pick your own theme. This week I'm going to reveal what those songs were. I hope those who choose to listen won't run for their lives. My theme is going to be the Three Worst Songs Even Made That My Peeps Have the Records. By worst I'm not referring to bands or musical styles that they don't like.

The first one is a record that Pop bought years ago. It contains all of four lines repeated over a drum beat. It was released in 1970 on Capitol, the same label as the Beatles and actually made it to #2 on the UK charts. The band later changed their name to 10CC and went on to have lots of more conventional hits. This song can clear any room in a hurry.

TW used to play a radio in the office she shared with her art director boss. He never complained about the music, except for three songs. This was one of them. Another minimalistic song, released in 1982, this song was a dance hit. It was actually nominated for a Juno Award as International Single of the Year. This song also reached #2 on the UK charts, #3 in Canada and #33 on the U.S. dance charts. Her boss borrowed the record from TW to prove to his wife that it really existed.

The last one is probably the worst song ever made and TW owns it! A lady screeching—I really can't call it singing—about her lost dog who may possibly be imaginery. It was released, as a children's song no less, in 1980 and thankfully died a quick death. It would sure scare impressionable kids. It is alternately called a "work of genius" or the worst song ever. Those who listened to Dr. Demento may have heard it although TW heard it on WFMU's Bill Kelly Show.

This week's honorable mention goes to another minimalistic song by an Alaskan band who released this single in 1980. TW is the proud owner of this one too.

I'd be remiss if I didn't include Napoleon XIV's 1966 novelty record "They're Coming to Take Me Away" which hit #3 on the Billboard singles chart. Strangely enough, this one is a song to a "mangey mutt" also. Hmmmmm! The flip side is the same song backwards. Being as this is a novelty record, it doesn't make the cut with the other "hits." Yay Pop, for buying this gem.

Hello? Is anyone still there? Did I clear the room again? Did anybuddy listen to the songs? Which one do you think is the worst? Which song would you nominate to add to the list?

Wednesday we'll be back to our regularly-scheduled blog and you can read all about our bedtime routine at the condo. Until then, KEEP ROCKIN'!

NOTE: Sorry about the repeat images. TW did all the chores and left no time to do blog images.

  1. I'm glad you finally escaped the clutches of that evil cube. Sounds like a horrific experience.

  2. I don't imagine you'll let the humans examine your paws, CK, to make sure there was no damage done. You are probably even less inclined to allow that than Binga!

My human actually vaguely remembers all those songs except that icky one about the puppy. That is beyond awful! And while some of 10cc's songs make her want to smack somebody, Sheet Music is still one of her favorite albums. So she got kind of excited when she saw the song credits on the first single.

  4. That had to be super scary. We've all had times when our claws have gotten caught in things. fortunately, none of those things ever chased us!

  5. I'm glad you were able to escape from that evil cube. Hopefully with no damage done. Now my ears are bleeding. :( Who allowed that Fluffy song to be recorded? If you will excuse me, I'm going to scrub my ears out with the toilet bowl brush and some Drano.

  11. Sounds like you need a claw trim CK. I do this to the Farm cats when they get caught in my shirt. They don't like it and they fight but what needs doin' needs doin'. I've got the scars to show for it.

  20. Wowsa, those are some bad songs! Especially the one with the girl looking for fluffy! Yikes. The 10cc one surprised me (or the band that went on to become 10cc). I loved the 10cc song "I'm Not in Love."
I will admit I always have liked Napoleon XIV's "They're Coming to Take Me Away" song. I remember when that came out. It was always eerie for sure but I liked it. :)

  22. Phew! I am glad you escaped the clutches of that evil cube!
Those songs are really awful! I remember the first two (unfortunately). I didn't realise that the first group later became 10cc.
*whispers* I also bought "They're Coming to Take Me Away". Ha ha! Don't tell anyone though.
