Do you think your Sunday Selfies could use something, anything to liven them up? Are you a cat who forgets to look at the camera while taking your selfies? I've got the answer to up your game to a whole new level. Or have I?

As you know, this kitteh thinks outside the box all the time. As you also may know, I've been mistaken for a woofie a number of times and sent dog food by a couple of different brands. That's why I axed Chewy for the Pooch Selfie Original Dog Selfie Stick Smartphone Attachment. I'm not a pooch, nor do we have a smartphone. No problemo.

What the —? I'm. Not. A. Dog.

Dog owners aren't the only ones who have problems getting their subject's attention for a photo shoot. Cat staff have some of the same problems—in fact we're less likely to cooperate when the flashy box comes out—so it's kind of an insult that they don't market a Cat Selfie especial for us. Na mean?

To tell the truth, when TW read the line "This first-of-its-kind smartphone accessory makes taking clear, focused pictures of you and your best buddy fun and easy," she thought it was like the lights and stuff that are sold to aid in getting clear pics. She didn't read the full description which is so like her. Again, no problemo.

Snap the device to the top of almost any smartphone or tablet—we used the i-pawd—and insert the Pooch selfie squeaking tennis ball or a cat toy into the cradle to get your cat's attention. For one, the bright color tennis ball should attract your cat's attention. A lot of cat photographers use toys to get the cat's attention; unfortunately we couldn't find any that would fit the frame. Problemo.

These are the key benefits listed on Chewy's website. We find them to be a bit misleading since all it does is holds the animal's attention and keep them from moving, thus eliminating motion blur.
  • Elevate your selfie game and impress your social media followers with amazing photos of your four-legged friend.
  • Innovative, first-of-its-kind smartphone accessory makes taking clear, focused pictures of you and your best buddy fun and easy.
  • Teach your dog cat that posing for pictures is actually fun and rewarding by playing a quick game of fetch with the squeaky ball after every few snaps. Not all cats like to play fetch. I do.
  • You can substitute any cat toy. We THOUGHT you could substitute any cat toy but even the largest kickers we have are too small. A 3-oz can of cat food is the only thing we found that fits. You may have more imagination than TW. Most do.

Although I did look at the i-pad for a few pics, I then started washing; completely disinnerested. It does seem to have HHGutt's innerest. We thought this had potential to work as a device for cat staff but I think it's something most can live without. Dog humans will love it for obvious reasons. Two words: Tennis ball. My thought, though, would be that dogs would be busy jumping up to grab the ball but what do I know about them. Here's a review by a dog mom that basically says the same thing.

I love Chewy boxes so before I opened the Pooch Selfie Stick Smartphone Attachment, I baked a Chewy cake. I thought it would make a nice cake topper. The tiers almost look like cans of cat food. Who wants a piece of the action cake?

Chewy has plenty of real cat toys and brands of cat food to choose from. The Chewy Cat Shop has all the cat supplies your kitteh could ever need, want, dream about, purr over and claw for. You’ll find cat supplies ranging from food and treats to litter and toys, supplements, beds and so much more. Don't forget that Chewy has great prices and the best customer service. You get free one- or two-day shipping on orders over $49. Tell 'em CK sent you. Word.

  1. They need to make something that flies that attaches to the phone or tablet! That would get my attention for selfies. Maybe an attachment with a fluttering dragonfly toy?

  2. Most of us are fairly good at looking at the camera but something unique might keep the focus linger CK!

  3. It's an unique idea. I've never thought of such accessory! I may succeed in getting attention from my boys when taking pictures :-)

  4. What Summer said! If you could attach some sort of dangly, flying thing, that would get more cats' attention. Might work great until the cat jumps up to catch it. :)

  5. This is such a nifty idea. I sometimes use a bell or a small treat bag to get my little ones attention :')

By the way, I wanted to let you all know that we nominated you for a blogger recognition award! <3 You can check it out here: http://petsoverload.com/blogger-recognition-award/

  6. We think this is a great concept, CK, but the thought of trying to use one of these with pup Astrid is kind of scary. She's something along the lines of a ball fiend, and we foresee some disaster...

  8. My woofie brother almost always looked like he was getting a mug shot taken. He'd rather be next to Mom getting petted, not sitting away looking at anything, including a tennis ball.

  10. Very creative Chewy cake :) You are lucky to have so many boxes, Penny always pees in ours. I wish I had a smart phone, that is a great idea. My cheap phone doesn't even have a camera. xo

  14. I have a hard time getting my dogs to look at the phone/camera too. Neither are ball crazy, so I have my doubts this will work for us. I need something (other than my usual trick -- Hubby) to hold a treat over my head. Thanks for the review.

  15. It's hard to get great shots of your baby isn't it. Whatever works is good to know. I also love Chewy. They are the bomb.

Welcome to Awww Mondays. Have a purrfect day and week. ☺

  16. Hmmm...I wonder if that would work with my cats. They certainly aren't camera shy to begin with, though.

  17. I use treats. Of course, that limits the pictures I can get - but often it's enough. This company should be smart enough to figure out a solution for kitties - it's only fair! Can you imagine all the cat bloggers in line for something like that?!?! Of course, there will always be a few stubborn kitties that just flat out refuse to cooperate ... I'm thinking CK and Bear here ;)

  18. Yep, we need to use treats to get them to cooperate. Great idea!

  19. That's a pretty cool concept. Humans get so frustrated when you insist on looking away from the camera lens. That's what makes it such a fun game for us to play!

  20. Worse, the woofie could have a peeing problem.

  21. Sometimes humans create silly products! At least kitties like you are there to let us humans know that we are off track. Manna and Dexter have a squeaky tennis ball and the noise does get their attention. I have a feeling that if I was to squeeze that ball often, the squeak would lose it's appeal. If they made a version of this with a feather sticking out of it, kitties might find it more appealing.
