Joining Me in My Studio Today is …

Hola and welcome to my studio. You've caught me in mid-painting. I just need to fill in the background with color. I don't want to be rude so let me innerduce my cousin Nickolette who has agreed to sit for me. Isn't she gorgeous? Just a little more work on the background and her portrait is complete. I'm honored that Nickolette has chosen me to paint her and hope I can do her justice! Nickolette is currently being spoiled by Aunt Pauline. The approximately 15-year-old kitteh had a rough start to life until she adopted Aunt Pauline 12 years ago.

Joining Me in My Studio Today is …

Talk about a cat from da hood, Nickolette's early life is as colorful as mine. Her first human landed in the slammer for drug dealing. The family didn't want to take her in so they let the declawed Nickolette wander outside for several years among the raccoons and other wildlife. The daughter-in-law to one of Aunt Pauline's friends lived nearby and started feeding Nickie. Finally, she felt so sorry for poor Nickolette that she formerly axed her family if she could take her.

It was discovered that Nickolette had litter box issues. Upon going to the vet, it was also discovered that at some point she had been shot with a bb gun since they found one embedded in her skin. After living with Aunt Pauline's brother for awhile, it was decided it was in her best innerests to join Aunt Pauline's family which already consisted of four cats. Nickie always wanted to be an only cat though and now she has the opportunity since her fursibs ran to the Rainbow Bridge. She's thriving in that role.

I've used a picture of the beautiful Nickolette taken by Rehana to assist me with my painting. As always, you can biggify each painting by clicking on it.

This is the piece I was working on in the lead pic. After I sketched her, I added color. I'm so happy she agreed to stay awhile longer so I could paint a few more.

Joining Me in My Studio Today is …

I bet this is going to be Aunt Pauline's favorite since I used classic brush strokes. I promised her that she'd send her the originals of all three of these paintings.

This abstract painting is my personal favorite. A splash of color here, a splash of color there and it adds so much character. Nickolette is a dilute calico but for some reason, she reminds my of my BFGF Savannah. It may be in the expression. Does anymore else see a resemblance?

Hope you enjoyed my art which is part of the Caturday Art Blog Hop. Thanks to Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty for hosting it every week and giving me an excuse to mess around with Photoshop and some the cool online apps that are so easy a cat can use them. If you'd like to see more Caturday art, click the link and check out the other kitties showing their artwork this week. You'll find all kinds of art styles and one of them is bound to catch your [cat] fancy.
