Wednesday Word—Snowmageddon

Where’s the snow?

All last weekend, the weather forecasts got worse and worse. First we were expecting three- to six-inches of snow. Then a foot or more. Finally this appeared on my Twitter timeline. GASP!

The snow started early Monday morning. By the time TW went out, there was about an inch on the ground. Why did TW go out? The peeps are known hoarders so they had plenty of food and bottled water in the condo. I was stocked with cat food and litter. But I’m glad you axed why she went out.

TW claimed she had to pick up a prescription at Walgreens but I knew there was an ulterior motive why she couldn’t wait a few days to pick it up. About two hours later she came home in the blinding snow holding an ICED COFFEE. You read that right. ICED. COFFEE. She was covered with snow and clutching that ICED coffee. Why would she do such a crazy thing besides that she’s completely crazy?

TW never turns down FREE anything. She’s already went out in freezing rain to collect. Rumor has it she walked into the DD and shouted “I’m here for my FREE iced coffee” and everyone slowly backed away from her.

As for the 20-30 inches of snow—FAIL! We got about eight inches here and that’s being generous. To quote Pop: “Never has so much been said about so little.” He did get a snow day since NJ Transit wasn’t running buses and the Lincoln Tunnel was closed.

When all is said and done, we should have known Blizzard 2015 wasn’t gonna happen. TW usually gets a migraine before all significant weather events. Did she have even a headache before this significant weather even? Nope.

TW was lucky she didn’t slip and fall getting that iced drink. The snow was pretty heavy while she was waddling home. What’s the craziest thing your human ever did?

Would you like to comment?

  1. Ha ha ha--kinda sounds like our Storm of the Century last month for which schools were closed and hatcjes battened down---and then, oh, I dunno--a little rain? Maybe those same guys are doing your weather forecasting too! XOXOXOX My Human would do almost ANYTHING for coffee. Not iced though.

  2. We're glad the weather didn't turn out any worse and as far as the iced coffee goes - our Mommy thinks this was totally acceptable!
    Happy Wednesday, CK!

  3. My human's crazy thing is she will hunt down a Del Taco for their $1 Jacked-up Bean, Rice and Cheese Burrito! It is less than 200 calories, so she can get a churro to go with it and call it a semi-healthy lunch (beans and rice are a good vegetarian meal, right? And if you are half hispanic, churros are part of the food pyramid... um, right?). Seriously, it was her lunch stop on the way home from Las Vegas in October, and she will drive 20 minutes, almost all the way to Burbank, if she's in the mood. Never mind there are about a billion places to eat within a couple minutes of her. Now, THAT is insane.

  7. I'm glad the storm fizzled and that TW got her iced coffee! I can't say that I blame her :) I'm just wondering how I missed that coupon!!!

  8. We're glad that the Weather forecast changed and you didn't get slammed. We have that happen with Hurricanes down here and we always make sure we're prepared because you never know. Looks more like L.I. got hit and then MA and upper New England. It was bad for some places just glad it wasn't for you CK!!!

  10. Iced coffee on snowy day! I totally admire TW for not missing the opportunity :-)

  11. Your Mom is my kind of woman, anything for a free coffee ( I would want a hot one though). We only got 7 inches, but I am not complaining. In Worcester, an hour away, they got 31 inches.

  12. Yikes......that's a whole lotta snow.....good thing they were WRONG although 8 inches isn't anything to sneeze at (well.....I suppose you COULD sneeze if you had a cold). Some people will do anything for coffee - iced or hot. Humans - don't try and figure 'em out!

    Stay warm
    Hugs, Sammy

  13. Iced coffee?? That's like an oxymoron or something!!! TW is barmy and so is The Staff as she drives about a hundred miles to get 1p a litre off petrol!!

  14. That's a good one. Maybe TW is addicted to iced coffee too in addition to it being free. I'm glad your storm was not worse than it was. You did't need a gigantic storm. M and a friend used to walk 3 miles 3-5 times a week. One day in the winter, it was lightly raining - just a drizzle. They kept walking. Mistake! It turned into ice and they slipped and slid home. They laugh about it today, but M said it was a little scary at the time.

  15. Brilliant! We can just imagine TW yelling out for her free iced coffee! This gave us a big smile, thanks CK! Glad you didn't get the snow they were predicting.

  19. We absolutely cannot think of anything crazier, except maybe when our Dad went to the Vet on New Year's Eve to pick up our cd/stress cat food and came home six hours later with a new car. And yes, he did have our food. Speaking of making so much of so little, lets put deflate gate (or whatever they're calling it) in that column. Mom told Dad this a.m. that if she were an alien and landed here that after listening to all the falderal, she'd be high-tailing it out of here with fear of catching whatever disease it is that is making people go on and on about this nonsense. Okay, so that's our two cents or rather quarter's worth of bellyaching for today. Stay warm and toasty, CK. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calistsa Jo

  20. Iced coffee? My mum doesn't want iced anything when it is cold outdoors. She likes her coffee so hot that she complains it burns her throat. I am glad the worst of the snow missed you CK.

  21. Those goofy weather guessers. We all know humans are wrong more often than not CK!

  22. Be glad you didn't get that much. The first winter I was here we had 20 inches. Mum had a heck of a time getting the snow cleared off and needed help from the neighbors with the big snow blowing machines.

  23. I'm glad that you didn't get hit any harder than that with snow. It is pretty funny that TW went out for an iced coffee during a blizzard. Stay warm!

  24. That sounds like something my Mom would do. Rumor has it, in the "Blizzard of 78" in Ohio...Mom was in college. She and her roommate walked ACROSS CAMPUS IN A DRIVING BLIZZARD.........(YES.....a REAL blizzard, not just 6 or 8 inches), and it was a FAR walk...........to buy..........ready for this? ICE CREAM. Yepper! It wasn't free either. She and her roommate wanted to have a pig out fest on ICE CREAM in a blizzard. TW and my Mom would be quite the pair! Love, Cody

  25. That's pretty funny about TW going out for that free iced coffee! But hey, we guess FREE iced coffee is GOOD iced coffee, right? Hee hee.

We got about a foot here -- no complaints that it was about a third of what they were forecasting!

  26. The weather peeps sure make much ado about nothing. We remember a couple years ago we were supposed to have a snowmageddon. They were closing everything. And we only got about 6 inches. What a bust! But we're glad you didn't get all that snow, CK.

  27. Keisha you look like you don't like that flashy thing - sure you are all looking forward to getting the weather back to normal - I have a close friend in New York.
