I Got the Music in Me

Dunno why I chose this as the lead pic. Maybe cos it’s colorful; maybe cos it hasn’t been posted recently.

This is week #2 of the brand new photo hunt called 52 Snapshots of Life! This one is hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull and this theme—or challenge as I like to call them—is right up my alley. Those new to this blog may not know I’m a world famous cat DJ, having worked for PawPawty, Blogpawty and then Nipclub. I’m semi-retired now and I think I earned it. This is a Blog Hop so check out the other entries. You can use any social media medium to join in, just use the hashtags #PBSG and #52Snapshots.

There’s music all over our condo. Bear with me if you’ve seen these photos before. Pop was a radio DJ/music librarian and TW was a music “journalist” who wrote for fanzines as well as published her own ‘zines in the age before the Interwebs. Pop likes music from the ‘60s and ‘70s and country; TW prefers ‘50s rockabilly, punk and alternative. The little ghetto kitteh in me jams to the sounds of the streets—the rap and hip hop, which I wasn’t allowed to play when I DJed cos TW was concerned about offensive lyrics and cuss words.

I know I used this pic for the books’ theme at the other PhotoHunt but it IS music related. TW helped with these music tomes cos she likes seeing her name in print. She ain’t never gonna see it on this blog.

You’ve all seen pics of our lp liberry. On the three shelves beneath me are a few of our 45 rpm records. I know many aren’t familiar with 45’s but we dj’s play them all the time. Also pertaining to music is the Ramones’ dolls on the right and Velvet Underground cd box set at left, both kinda sorta visible in this shot if you know what you’re looking for.
Where’s Keisha? Can you find me?

Also visible in this pic is one of our Tiffany lamps (with the watermark over it). There’s a matching one on the other side that met with an accident the other night. The lampshade jumped off the lamp and broke. I happened to be the only one in the room but the peeps can’t prove anything.

Now onto the Caturday Art Blog Hop hosted by Athena and Marie. I know I always post it after the Photo Hunt but it’s one of my favorite blog hops. I thought I’d continue the music theme with a piece I made in May 2013 but previously had no excuse to post. TW had just gotten back from Blogpaws where a cariCATure artist drew ME. Click the link to see the original post and the complete drawing, which TW still hasn’t gotten framed.

Wouldja look at that. It’s kinda sepia, which means I can also join Ruckus the Eskie’s Sepia Saturday Blog Hop. I’m hopping all over the place today. Speaking of hopping, I’ll be on my toes this weekend when a certain sticky little human invades my sanctum. Rumor has it she’s been giving rectal exams to woofies! Do you have any plans this weekend?

Would you like to comment?

  15. You have lots of 45s which shows what a great DJ you are CK. Sounds like you had better keep your butt firmly planted on the ground and your claws at the ready this weekend.

  16. Um, 16!!! Yeah, I know--My Human is BAD BAD BAD! The Human's first 45 was: All Shook Up. But her first record was (I kid you not) Kate Smith singing God Bless America, LOL. I *LIKE* songs with cuss words and other bad language. Maybe you can spin some for me when I bring the pillows and visit?

  17. Are you going to tickle the ivories for us CK?

  18. There's no rap in our house, but Dad had some music that mom called "cr@p" and wouldn't let him play because of the bad lyrics and screaming. She said it wasn't good for us kitties to hear that sort of thing.
That's a cool caricature of you and your mom turned it into a neat artwork. She's so creative.

  19. We have quite a bit of music in our house because Mom Paula plays the piano and sings. She's not into rap, though.
