3 Secrets to Becoming a Happy Cat #GetHealthyHappy

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing how TW keeps me healthy and happy, as well as giving tips on how you can do the same for your cat. Now that we’re all healthy and happy cats, along with Hill’s® Science Diet®, I'd like to keep us that way. I’m happy that I was axed to participate in this #GetHealthyHappy campaign.

In the first post, I talked about the importance of yearly vet visits, shared some important tips from Hill’s on tricking your cat into the PTU and even had some words from my vet, Dr. D. A veterinarian who knows your cat will be able to spot a condition before it becomes serious and save you money on an emergency vet. Healthier pets have happier, longer lives and you save money by catching illnesses at the beginning. The American Pet Products Association’s National Pet Owner Survey for 2013-2014 found that emergency and illness vet visits can be $50-$200 more expensive than a routine wellness visit. Every year you skip taking Fido or Princess to the vet is equal to a human not going to the doctor for five years.

I also shared a short video on three easy ways to keep your pet healthy and happy narrated by Dr. Ashley Gallagher from the Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC.

In the second post, Cooking With Keisha, I talked about mealtime: the three ways to feed a cat, how to transition foods and to make sure your cat’s food is balanced. Selecting the proper mealtime nutrition can be intimidating, but Hill’s and your vet can help.

All cats are different and Hill’s makes food specially for those differences. One food isn’t right for every cat. Did you know by feeding specially formulated foods you can help manage specific health conditions? Hill’s Science Diet offers food for adult perfect weight, hairball control, oral care, sensitive stomach and skin and even grain-free. You can get most of them in dry or wet formulas from Hill’s Science Diet. If you’d like to try any or all of these foods, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is offering a $10 off promotion on select Hill’s Science Diet products.

Playtime = exercise for CK.

Bonding With CK, the third post, was about the little extras that can help keep cats minds happy and healthy: play, exercise, grooming and rewarding us with healthy treats. It’s important to connect with us every day. I love to bond with Pop when he grooms me in the morning before he leaves for work. Our special moment keeps me happy all day until he returns home at night. I get both mental and physical stimulation when I bond with TW during our play sessions  and when she gives me my nightly treats. If you’re looking for healthy treats, Hill’s line consists of salmon and chicken treats that feature balanced nutrition.

Extra attention and special moments with my peeps bring joy to my life and to theirs. Treats, toys, playtime, exercise and grooming are all ways that reinforce the bond between me and my peeps. If you need advice about any little extra, ax your veterinarian during your pet’s annual checkup.

I had a giveaway with this post. Big concats to Abby Smith of Manxmnews who chose the cat bundle. I’m sure Annabelle, Ping, Boo and Jinx are gonna really love it.

In closing, as much as we don’t like to admit it, we depend on humans to make healthy decisions for us, and one way pet parents can ensure our health and happiness is by focusing on not only the right nutrition, but also regular vet visits, exercise and grooming routines.

Remember, don’t just get happy. #GetHealthyHappy with Hill’s Science Diet.

  5. After many years of hit and miss, The Staff has found that I like Hills Science Plan the best, at least the hard stuff! As I am so picky and will only eat fish based soft food, I still have Purina Felix for that!! So far I am doing ok! I think a cat should definitely be consulted on what is best for us. After all humans grow and manufacture their own food!!

  10. Lots of very good advice CK.
    You asked if the blood in my urine could be caused by my thyroid pills. It was first noticed when it was tested at the same time as my blood when I was first diagnosed, so I hadn't had any pills then. Hopefully the culture can be grown and give some suggestions to the cause.
