Dona Nobis Pacem

Hola Kitties! We are once again participating in the annual BlogBlast 4 Peace. This is the 13th year for one of my favorite blogging events. I've been doing my part since 2011. Mimi Lenox, the founder, wanted to know what would happen if the entire blogosphere posted about world peace on the same day using the same title—Dona Nobis Pacem. It hasn't changed the world—yet—but it's provided some creative and wonderful images of peace. The theme this year is Words Are Powerful. I put together a few peace songs for you.

Dona Nobis Pacem

Words are powerful but as the saying goes, action speaks louder than words, especially when the words you choose are not the right words or the best words. My peace globe in 2015 was not one of my favorite peace posts but every quote was from someone whose actions spoke louder than their words. I quoted the words of Pope Francis, Gandhi, Dr. King, Malala and the Dalai Lama among others who live/d the life they preached.

Choose your words carefully especially in the age of social media. Think before you post something hurtful or divisive. Words should never be used to divide or cause fear. They should unite. In the age of the worldwide web, words are forever. You own your words going forward from the day you type them and hit post, whether you delete them or not.

If you're religious, take a knee and pray for peace. If you're not, take a knee to resist hatred, war and senseless murder that's the result of those not realizing how powerful words can be.

Our words are just that—words—without commitment. Commit yourself to peace. Peaceful rhetoric should stir as much passion as hate speech. Vote for candidates who are committed to working with others worldwide and locally to create a more peaceful world. Namaste and peace out.
