Good Things Come in Plain Packages (Too) #ChewyInfluencer

Hola kitties. As you know, we're very design conscience around here. Our blog was designed by Glogirly Designs—although it prolly needs a redesign to freshen it up—and TW does try her best to design images you will enjoy. I've been known to dabble in art too which I show off almost every Caturday. Believe me there's nothing about this cat that's plain.

Even cat food brands seem to want to outdo each other with their fancy labels and packaging. They depict all breeds of cats and colors of art. When Chewy sent us Miko cat food, we both looked at each other. The cans were drab and unexciting. Someone forgot to pay the art director. Each recipe—chicken, mackerel & tuna, tuna & tilapia and salmon—came in a different color can with a chicken or fish denoting what was in the can. I knew I can do better—if I had some monetary incentive but I don't see the brand throwing any in my direction any time soon. Heh heh.

There's a lot of good stuff in those drab cans. Apparently, Miko spent the dough they saved on design on ingredients. Nothing wrong with that. The brand states: Love your kitty back with a thoughtfully selected meal when you try the Miko Seafood & Chicken in Consommé Variety Pack. These recipes feature real, whole fish and chicken flaked into chunks that aren't too big, and packed in a delicious, savory consommé. Once TW opened a can, she noticed—and smelled—the difference. Miko's has ingredients you and your cat can both recognize, and a flaky texture that’s whisker-licking good. A complete and balanced meal in every can with added vitamins, minerals, and taurine ensures that TW can feel good about filling the bowl with food that’s worthy of me. And there’s never any of the extras we don’t want, like grains, wheat, corn, soy or carrageenan.

But how did I like it?

All cats know, though, it's not what the can looks like, it's what's inside that really matters. You know you're dealing with some quality noms when your human opens a fishy can, wrinkles up her nose and says "P U." HAH! Once I caught a whiff, I couldn't wait to dig into the tuna and tilapia flavor and dig in I did. TW sold me on it. It contains lots of consommé for kitties who don't imbibe enough and the meat is small enough for me to enjoy as you can see from the image above. I want the rest of the can.

The big test with me always comes with the non-fishy recipes. When TW opened the chicken recipe, she remarked how good it looked and smelled. She thought it smelled like fresh cooked chicken soup. What kind of recommendation is that? When she presented it to me, I walked away. After she chased me around the condo for about 20 minutes, I decided to do her a favor and take a few licks. Guess what? It was good. I took a few more licks until all the consommé was finished. Then I licked my lips. That wasn't so bad. I guess TW wasn't trying to poison me after all.

I've tried all four recipes and they've all been a hit with me. That's highly unusual with a finicky kitteh such as myself. This is one brand the feral kitties aren't going to get to try. TW may even add it to our autoship.

Who's looking at the can anyway? Certainly not me. However, I did make a few artistic design changes which I think you'll agree would make these cans fly off the shelves.
