I'm thankful today for many reasons.
I’m thankful that I can bite Pop without consequences. He might get mad at me for a minute but then he forgives me. TW won’t play for the rest of the day if I bite her. I'm thankful for YOU who follow this blog and leave comments. In addition, here’s what I give thanks for every year: Companion Animal Placement for rescuing me from the kill shelter; TW and Pop for finding me on Petfinder.com and giving me a roof over my head and a place to hang my smousy toys—and for knowing who's the boss around here; Pop not letting TW return me just cos I attack her all the time.
I'm also thankful for my cat food (even if it's not nearly enough); people food (why don't they ever have Omaha steaks or roast beef?), my sharp teeth and soon-to-be-sharp-again claws ("me? I don’t bite"), my furriends and those who follow and interact with me here and on Twitter and Facebook; those who share my posts; Dr. D. cos she never stresses me out too much or over-medicates me; my cat trees (especially the new one), tunnels and toys; the world’s most perfect food, TUNA; Chewy for sending me all kinds of noms to sample and review; the kisses that I get every day (awww) and being a cat (so I don't have to go to work and can sleep all day). Most of all, I'm thankful that I was born THE WORLD'S MOST STUNNING CAT!
For those who've axed, there won't be a 4-lb chocolate turkey this year so I'll share a pic of last year's model. The peeps overdosed on Halloween candy.
Excuse me while I put on my apron and chef's hat. OK, forget the apron.
You'll need a bunch of apples, a loaf or two of bread, an onion, some celery, a couple of eggs and a whole lot of Bell's poultry seasoning which is made of all good stuff—rosemary, oregano, sage, ginger, marjoram, thyme and pepper. The amount of each ingredient depends on how many you're cooking for. The peeps make a lot cos they like to make sammiches with the leftover turkey and stuffings piled a mile high.
Cut the crust off the bread and soak the bread in water. Wring out the bread and put it in a bowl. Cut the apples into pieces and cook them with the onion and celery in a large skillet. When the onion is clear and the apples mushy, add it to the bread. Add the eggs and the Bell's poultry seasoning—you'll probably want to use at least 3/4 of a box—and mash it all together. Besides making it nice and spicy, the Bell's gives it its color.
Enjoy your turkey and be thankful that you're safe and warm with a roof over your head and food in your dish. Spend some time today thinking about those less fortunate cats and those cats in California burn units. You may want to make a plate of white meat turkey and take it out to those homeless cats near your home.
