There are some pretty cool songs on this playlist. Some you may have heard and some that will be new to you. By clicking on those three lines on the top left side, you can pick and choose the songs or just click the play button in the center to play them all which is, of course, my recommendation.
Just some brief comments about the playlist. Lou Reed's "Halloween Parade" is near and dear to this New Yorker's heart. Not to brag or anything but TW or Pop were good friends with members of the Hawaiian Pups and Subway Surfers and TW is Facebook friends with R.E.M.'s manager. The Roky Erickson song is grouped with the R.E.M. song since Roky penned both of them. The Fleshtones are one of the best pawty bands there ever was. TW once went to see R.E.M. open for the Cramps at the Peppermint Lounge downtown on Halloween when R.E.M. did an entire set of cover tunes and Michael dressed as a rabbit. We closed the set with a song that we used to close our Halloween sets at the Nip Club—Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" which is nine plus minutes of spooky goodnes.

I'll bet you never would have guessed which costume I picked. Thank you Ann for providing me with the perfect costume to play my pawsome playlist. It sets the tone just right.
Just for the heck of it even though I'm off-theme, I'm gonna connect with the Monday Mewsic Moves Me blog hop hosted by Curious as a Cathy and a chorus of others. This week's theme that I'm ignoring is songs with unusual instruments. I dunno, some of these songs just might employ unusual instruments or maybe they're just unusual songs.
What a fun playlist! And how cool to see the Fuzztones on it - twice! Rudi, the singer, rented out my human's living room for a month in the late 1980s when he came back from a European tour. That was an interesting, and mostly fun experience!
ReplyDeleteThat playlist is why you're always rockin' it CK!
ReplyDeleteYou are all set thanks to Ann to play your pawsome playlist. We love the songs that you shared. They are just purfect for Halloween. Thanks for the share. We love your costume. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

ReplyDeleteYou look great CK! You are the coolest dj ever. A lot of songs on the play list are new to me, but I recognized The Monster Mash :) XO
ReplyDeleteDo you do weddings too? Because I totally would hire you for any parties we have! Though, you might steal the spotlight from a bride ...
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your costume, CK! And how much fun are Halloween-themed songs?
ReplyDeleteyou look pawesome CK!!
ReplyDeleteCathy,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you decided to join the 4M on the dance floor. It's totally cool that you're off-theme. We don't care, as long as you have tunes for us to boogie to! ;)
I love the artwork for your Halloween playlist - great job!
At first glance I thought I didn't know any of your song selections but that's not true. In recent years someone shared The Fuzztones' "Happy Halloween" and Siouxsie The Banshees' "Halloween" with the 4M gang. Of course, I know the cover songs 'Spooky' (Lydia Lunch) and ' 'Monster Mash' (The Misfits) by not familiar with the artists. The Misfits might ring a bell. I'm not sure, I'll have to check into this. All the other picks are new-to-me. I actually liked 'If You Have Ghosts' (Roky Erickson).
I had a great time here this morning sampling some new tunes. Never shy away from the dance floor no matter what you're listening to because we want to hear them, too! Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
I love the OMCK hat! You look just awesome!!
ReplyDeleteYou make a super cool DJ and that hat!!! LOVE. I do recall that your folks have some music connections with lots of amazing musicians and stories.
ReplyDeleteMy assistant has a few fun music stories but nothing quite as exciting as yours.
Awesome costume, CK! And that playlist of yours rocks! I saw Siouxsie and the Banshees in concert back in the day. And the Cramps and the Misfits, too!
ReplyDeleteApart from the cover songs, these were new to me, although I know some of the groups and singers. One thing this wasn't was the stereotypical Halloween play list. I enjoyed it just for that reason (and I plan to link to it for this coming Monday). My fav? Hard to say. And gosh, I never rented out my living room to any musician. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWe saw you over there CK. You do get about.
