Not Quite Winter in the Big City Fill-Ins

The weather is finally getting colder here in the city. My fur coat is filling in and TW is pulling out her puffy jackets. She even had to turn the furnace on for a brief time Wednesday night. The PSE&G guy who was supposed to be checking our furnace was here and gone in about two minutes so I've got my paws' crossed that all systems are go. We're all ready to go here so let's start with some Flashback Foto Frenzy picks and then do the Friendly Fill-ins on this Friday.

Not Quite Winter in the Big City Fill-Ins

Shoko from Canadian Cats chose #6699 from May 2016. When I looked at TW for her thoughts on what was going through her feeble mind during this short foto shoot, her face went blank, just like her brain. Then she tried to make a kick save by saying I must have looked particularly stunning that night; but of course, she fumbled. My theory is TW had the overhead lights on in place of the flash. We rarely use the overheads cos they're halogen so they make the room hot and they're 14-ft up, which makes it hard to climb up to replace 'em. By using those lights, she wanted to create a different ambiance and feeling. The result is I am stunning in any light.

If you squint your eyes, you can tell that the cat on the windowsill in foto #1777 is me even though I'm a shadow of myself. Get it? HAH! TW doesn't have more than a dozen pics where I'm sitting at the window in Pop's room but yet she has to screw up the ones she's taken. She can never figure how I don't get poked when I sit near the cactus since every time she walks by the window, she gets pricked. Pop got that cactus as a gift following his back surgery the week after I moved in. The May 2011 foto is a pick of Aunt Pauline.

Not Quite Winter in the Big City Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted each and every week by 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader. They make up the fill-ins and I'm happy to provide the answers. My answers are truthful, so help me Cod. I can't speak for TW since she lies a great deal. That's why I don't let her play along.

1. The best part of where I live is the proximity to NYC. Off rush hour, the peeps could be in the city in 10-15 minutes and that counts the walk to the bus stop. The best part to me is that Pop is here and I get at least three meals a day and treats.

2. The worst part of where I live is the nonstop construction noises. All day it's renovations on our building and the building next door. At night it's the jackhammering on the helix. Also since I'm up so high, I don't get to see any other cats roaming around outside. Some of my furrends have cats coming right up to their door to talk to them.

3. If I had a hammer, I would hammer TW's head in the morning. Seriously, is there any other answer besides if I had thumbs, I'd be totally independent. Bwahaha!! ♬ If I had a Woman, I'd bite her in the morning, I'd bite her in the evening, all over her arms.

4. My favourite article of cold weather clothing is my luxurious gray and white fur coat. You can't buy a fur coat this fab in any of those hoity toity salons on 5th Avenue who still steal animal's furs. I'm starting to need it, too. It's 64F in our bedroom. CW hates everything about cold weather but secretly loves her cozy cashmere sweaters, which I'm not allowed to touch BTW. Her bestest sweater ever was a green mohair/wool blend that she got in a consignment store in NC but that's long gone.

You guys keeping yourselves toasty warm? Aren't natural fur coats the best?

  1. It's still not that cold here yet... although one of my human's friends (who lives in the San Fernando Valley) was complaining about how it's going down to 55 degrees tonight! MOL - we'll be in Portland next week, and I think the high is going to be lower than that.

  2. We enjoyed your photos CK! It's too cold here in the South, it's gonna be 37 tonight.

  3. Your stunningness makes us swoon, CK. It was 20°F here this morning. We're pulling out all of our blankies and coats. Oh, and we're thinking maybe TW should hide all the hammers? No?

  4. Yes, you're definitely lucky to have a natural fur coat to keep you warm!

  6. Of course kitties won't get poked by cactus unlike clumsy humans :-)
I admire your stunning fur coat, CK!

  8. It is cold here...but since it started raining yesterday its warmed up..a bit. We have a heated mattress pad, which means Mommy keeps the bedroom cold! I don't like that so I have been sleeping downstairs. Where it is much warmer.
And I prefer my fur coat to Mommy's fleece!

  9. I would love to have a coat like yours, CK. It's stunning pumped up a ton of notches. I like 1777 because the light/dark aspect highlights the heart on your arms. You really should give TW a break. Maybe say, "I love you," here and there ... then again, you have you own way of saying it, don't you?

  10. I start worrying about The 'O' Cats now, and will keep it up until March! Yes, they have thick fur coats, and don't want to come inside but I wish they'd learn to trust me and come IN!

  11. Beautiful photos ! Of course, natural coat is the best to keep you warm : we'll doubtless never understand why Claire persists in depilating in winter... Purrs

  12. Loved the picture of you with the high lighting. You are a cool girl.

It's cold here....not bone chilling yet but enough to make me think twice before going out on the deck. Last night was -15C or 5F, Not a night I would want to be stuck out in.

  14. Our heat came on Tuesday for the first time! This is the latest I've ever waited to turn it on. Haven't needed it! It's freeeeeeeezing today! Mudpie is freezing her little buns off.

  15. Great pics on the photos, I like the one with your shadow the best. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I would love to live that close to NYC.
I know those bites you give TW are a sign of affection. Have a nice weekend! XO

  16. Your #3 is absolutely FAB, as is photo #1. Our mom would not be able to manage that non-stop construction noise. Neighbors behind us have been adding some kind of building in their backyard, and Mom wants to take a hammer to her head. That might just be an improvement.
