That's a great question from "Fluffy." The World's Most Stunning Cat—me—must keep a beauty routine. Most of my stunningness comes naturally but I can't neglect my pearly whites. My best features are my eyes but there's nothing like a beautiful smile. I like to make a game out of caring for my teeth.
The biggest part of my dental regimen consists of biting on my peeps but as I got older I've added flossing to the regimen. As if you couldn't guess, it wouldn't be a bright idea for the peeps to try to brush my teeth. They would make my day if they stuck their fingers in my mouth. It would benefit them to have gauze already wrapped around that finger. Heh.
Wand toys come with built-in floss. When your human plays with you, go for the string, ribbon or rubber string rather than the toy at the end. It may be hard to neglect a toy at first but soon you'll be an expert. As your human moves the wand, the string will gently massage the teeth at the gum line to remove plaque which causes bad breath and cavities/resorption. It will tickle at first but keep at it. Insist your human break out the wand toy daily. You'll be bonding with your human AND keeping those pearly whites healthy.
Follow my advice and you'll never have to go for one of those nasty dental cleanings again.
We at Stunning Keisha aren't veterinarians. This post is humor although CK hasn't needed a dental cleaning in about 10 years using this regimen. Seek the advice of a veterinarian if your cat is having health concerns or trouble with her teeth.
Hmmmm, I'm not sure that's a veterinary approved method for dental care, but if it's working for you, you're lukcy. ;-) I'm in need of another dental cleaning but have to wait a few months.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm Dat's great advice CK. We'd both rather play with th attacher than the toy at th end. Unfurtunately, most of our wand toys are attached by wires, so we dont care to bite it. Big hugs

I tried flossing my teeth on the mesh part of the enclosure I used for this past weekend's cat show. For some reason, my human didn't think this was a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI knew chewin string wuz a good idea . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a pawsome way to keep your teeth clean ;)

That is a good idea. You have a lovely set of gnashers.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a smart kitty, CK. I could never thought of flossing that way :-)
ReplyDeleteWow. We envy you, CK. Maybe a month after adopting Bear from outside, I noticed blood on his toys with string. I thought maybe we were just being too rough - but about a year later, he had his first dental and extraction (he was 2). He's had three or four more dentals since then - each with extractions. I brush his teeth every other day - he might growl, but he's usually pretty good about it. The vet said it's genetic ... poor Bear. We're glad you have all your teeth, CK. When Bear's especially bite-y, I always joke that I'm going to stop brushing his teeth so he just loses all of them. I wouldn't really do that to him - especially because his bite-y-ness seems to mean so much to him :)
ReplyDeleteDang, I'm a bit behind on my string flossing but I'll get with the program CK!
ReplyDeleteck...gram paw dude used ta chew ona shoo lace....de ends had huge knotz in em sew he could knot just keep chewin til he swallowed it like....him lived 16 pluz yeerz N never had teeth trubullz either ~ ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeleteGreat advice ! That's a good way to keep our teeth clean ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWe use that method too CK. I should say I use it as Kali has 4 teeth with huge spaces between. It's especially good when we get shredded food because those shreds get caught so easily.
ReplyDeleteLoves,
Shoko
CK, I should have asked your advice a long time ago, because I just lost five of my teeth!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a good idea, CK! All the more reason to play with wand toys, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the excellent advice, CK. We're gonna try that. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat great advice for keeping our teeth cleaned! We love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this advice, although I hope my cats don't start biting me.
ReplyDeleteGood tips, CK! Can always count on you. Nice how-to pics as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips CK. For some reason, my Mommy avoids my mouth with her fingers! BUT she has bought me some of those teeth cleaning treats to go along with the string games!
