We still don't have an answer if my eating raw food and then biting them would lead to infection or the loss of one of TW's typing fingers. It's no secret that TW is also a nut about disinfecting the entire kitchen after she cooks any kind of meat. She definitely isn't looking forward to doing the disinfecting routine after every one of my meals.
Chewy to the rescue. You knew they'd know the answers. This month they served me up some tasty salmon Instinct Grain-Free Minced Cat Food Cups. Instinct is known for leading the way as a raw food brand for cats and dogs. Their motto is Feed What's Real® just like mine is Keeping It Real.
TW wasn't quite sure if this food was raw and what exactly "raw-inspired" meant so we did a little research on Instinct's web site. They say "every wet recipe we make is made with the pure, real nutrition of raw in mind. Each recipe starts with responsibly-sourced meat, poultry or fish, high in animal protein and made without grain, corn, wheat, soy or artificial colors or preservatives."
TW has issues with this food—she can't open the cups without spilling it all over the place and taking a bath in it. I didn't particularly care about her problems. I loved this food. It's been too long since I dug into a new food like I did this. Why wouldn't I since it's the closest thing I've had to raw since I last bit Pop's hand. I love the minced texture. The pieces are small enough to eat comfortably without my having to actually chew and the gravy is too die for.
After dinner, I got the zoomies bigly. I must have run all over the condo for about half an hour non-stop. Dunno if it's the fresh ingredients or the animal protein, but I had energy up the wazoo. Remember I've lived here 12 years and on the streets for another so I'm not a kitten.
In case you don't like reading the image, benefits include high animal protein, grain-free recipes guided by the brand's belief in raw, cuts of wild-caught salmon or tuna, farm-raised rabbit or cage-free chicken in a savory gravy, whole-food ingredients you can see like carrots, spinach and cranberries, no grains, potatos, corn, wheat, soy, by-product meal, artificial colors or preservatives, delicious minced texture and made in the good old USA with the finest ingredients from around the world.
We love the Instinct canned - maybe we should give this a try too!
ReplyDeleteLOL. I think TW and my assistant might be related. My assistant has trouble opening things, too - and then usually spills it EVERYWHERE and then has to disinfect everything. Glad you liked the food!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. We might have to get mom to fetch us some. Purrs
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the cup that I would spill contents when opening, too :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked their food!
Pumpkinpuddy here. We got the rabbit flavor to test and we just loved it! Mom still needs to do a price comparison to see if she could afford to feed us Instinct instead of the Wellness we've been eating. She was shocked we ate it cuz it isn't pureed and we never eat anything with shreds or chunks. But Instinct was just so nommy we snarfed it up!
ReplyDeleteHmm, maybe I should pick up some of this for Chucky! Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteOh CK, we didn't know you were innerested in raw?. But, we can answer your question. It's a big NO. You won't transmit anythin' to your humans that you don't already transmit with a bite just cuz you eat raw. Your teeth and gum health might even be better on raw. As fur da disinfectin', well, dat's just a TW thing and we can't help ya' there. Mommy just cleans like she would anytime she purrpares food. Fur us, dat means wipin' down da counters with a soapy sponge and cleanin' da dishes with soap and water. Mommy's 'lergic to lots of cleaners, so she uses vinegar, bakin' soda, peroxide and/or steam fur da deep cleanin'. But da deep cleanin' don't happen after every meal. Anyways, there's nuffin' raw 'bout these foods. glad you liked 'em, we wouldn't even touch 'em. Altho' our neighbor Nubs seemed to like 'em as much as you. Big hugs
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'

Tell TW to just poke a knife into it and cut around the sides. Then she can lift the plastic off of the top. Glad you liked your new foods
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying it, CK! If I put raw in front of Mudpie I just know she'd laugh at me.
ReplyDeleteWe tried this food too...and we're a little mixed on it. We're glad you liked it. Oh, and the mom agrees with TW. These cups were a little hard to open.
ReplyDeleteMom wishes she could get me to switch to a raw diet. I looked at her when she served it & told her she forgot to cook. I sent it back to the kitchen staff. I'm glad the raw diet is working for you. Hugs! -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteGlad it's good with you CK. I am stuck in a rut with what I eats! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWoW! This looks like great food! And CK, if you like it...I want to try it!
ReplyDeleteI am going to get my Mommy to look for it the next time she going down to the States!

That sounds like a good food. Prancie gets very peppy when we give her venison maybe I should get her some of this. XO
ReplyDeleteOooh! This must be yummy food if you are willing to eat it CK. You seem to have a very refined palate. Manna and Dexter might like this one if there is a chicken version. :)

We know you're particular about your food, CK. So your recommendation means a lot! We love that you got the zoomies after you ate. Those are some high-powered vittles right there. :)
ReplyDeleteThat does sound good CK! We might give it a try but Brother Simon sure doesn't need the energy boost!
ReplyDeleteGlad you love the food! Hopefully TW can learn how to open it better so she won't be covered in it.
