Shining a Light on Pet Adoption #RememberMeThursday #RememberTheRescue

Today is Remember Me Thursday. Our friends at the Helen Woodward Animal Center want everyone worldwide to remember those cats who died in shelters never having known a real home and to shine a light on those homeless cats still looking for a forever home.

Shining a Light on Pet Adoption

This post and this campaign mean the world to this little ghetto kitteh who was once a shelter cat. Remember Me Thursday® is a global awareness campaign uniting individuals and pet adoption organizations around the world as an unstoppable, integrated voice for orphan pets to live in forever homes. Each year over 2.7 million pets die in shelters without a forever home which gives this kitteh leaky eyes.

Today the entire world will share the importance of pet adoption and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues. In 2016, people using #RememberTheRescue and #RememberMeThursday reached nearly 340 million people on social media. Join the 249 organizations and rescues that are registered this year. In 2017 let's strive to reach even more people.

Shining a Light on Pet Adoption

Let's get the entire world talking about pet adoption. Tweet, tag, post and share the beauty that is the life-saving significance of pet adoption on social media using #RememberTheRescue and #RememberMeThursday. You can win money, food and toys for your shelter if you post by September 30.

Let's honor the lost pets who ran out of time and bring awareness to the pets we can still help by working together and using our voices. Be the voice for those without a voice. I'm thankful I can speak for those who can't and advocate for adoption.

Adopt. Don't Shop.

  13. We were shocked to learn how few pets are adopted from shelters. Less than 1/3 is a sad statistic. We need to change that. That's why this day, #RememberMeThursday, is so important.

  14. My assistant head explodes every time she reads that statistic about 2.7 million pets being euthanized in shelters AND that only 29% of Americans get their pets from shelters. That's INSANE!!!!!!!
