Hola kitties! Are you aware that today is Remember Me Thursday®? Of course you are. The Helen Woodward Animal Center created this campaign (and is sponsoring this post) that means the world to this little ghetto kitteh who was once a shelter cat. Remember Me Thursday® is a global awareness campaign uniting individuals and pet adoption organizations around the world as an unstoppable, integrated voice for orphan pets to live in forever homes. 

Remember Me Thursday: God Bless the Cat Who Doesn't Have a Home

 Hola kitties. This isn't a very religious house and we don't usually quote the Bible but we like us some blues. One of our new neighbors plays blues guitar and it's so relaxing to listen to. Last time he played, I was thinking what to write for my Remember Me Thursday post. The words God bless the cat who doesn't have a home—to paraphrase the great blues legend Billie Holliday—popped into this cat's head. Remember Me Thursday is more about the shelter cats but I like to remember my posse out on the streets. Shelter cats are down on their luck but they do have warm places to stay with food and even a bit of loving.

Today is Remember Me Thursday. Our friends at the Helen Woodward Animal Center want everyone worldwide to remember those cats who died in shelters never having known a real home and to shine a light on those homeless cats still looking for a forever home.

For the Ones Who Didn't Make It #RememberMeThursday

When I was a young cat in the shelter, I often looked up to the elderly, gristled cats who had been in there forever. I had been on Companion Animal Placement's petfinder.com page for many months and was wondering if I'd end up like them. I'd go to adoption events, only to be brought back to the shelter. Many nights I'd pray to Ceiling Cat that I wouldn't have to die in a shelter like many cats do. Tomorrow is Remember Me Thursday, the day we set aside to think of and remember those cats.
