Close as we can tell, there are three kinds of cat eaters. Lickers lick the gravy, chewers take bites out of their paté and those that inhale their food. I've always been a licker and that may be why I've never cared for paté.

I love being a #ChewyInfluencer cos I get to try different brands and textures of cat food. TW doesn't always order food she thinks I'll like cos that wouldn't be fair to our readers who trust my reviews. This month's first selection is the I and Love and You Variety Pack of Canned Cat Food. Three recipes are included in this pack: Chicken Lickin’ Good, Oh My Cod! and Purrky Turkey.

TW reads ingredients cos she wants to make be sure I'm getting the optimal nutrition I need to keep healthy and active. She told me these were high in protein and made with whole, deboned meat and real fruits and vegetables. Cats don't need fruits and veggies but it's nice to know they're real and not Memorex. (Anyone remember those ads?) Each natural recipe is also free of artificial preservatives, flavors and colors and contain no fillers or by-product meals; plus they're gluten- and grain-free without carrageenan. But the cat wants to know if they're edible.

Since I'm a Pescaterian, she picked out a somewhat dented can of Oh My Cod! to start me off. She was disappointed to see it was paté but I've begun to include paté in my diet over the past year or so. I won't usually eat when I see the flashy box but I started licking.

I didn't do too good on the first half can but when TW gave me the rest the next day, I actually began chewing chunks of paté out of my dish. I licked it clean and this is after it had been refrigerated. Same for the chicken; however, the turkey did nothing for me. Two outta three ain't bad, as Meatloaf used to say.

I was kind of disappointed that the variety pack didn't contain the Whascally Wabbit or Wholly Cow formulas. You can see all the I and You and Love recipes on the Chewy.com website. Try a couple of flavors and get free 1-2 day shipping on orders over $49.

Which kind of eater are you—a licker, chewer or do you inhale your food?

  3. Devi is definitely a chewer! She'll only eat pate. Thanks for letting us know you have had success crushing pred into food. We will try that if Devi won't swallow her pills!

  4. We are glad you liked two out of three of the flavors, CK!! We thought about trying that this month, but the Mom wasn't sure if we'd go for it.

  5. We have all three types of eaters at our house. We appreciate the review C.K., and think we might try a couple of these. We only like pate. Thanks also for joining the hop yesterday. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. I am a licker and the more gravy the better. Eric was an inhaler! He finished before I had hardly started my food.

  7. I purrsonally like to lick gravy off my food and leave the meat, so I usually get pate. My brofur Jack should've been named Hoover. He inhales fast, then hipchecks the others to grab their noms. Chauncie Marie eats fast cuz...Jack...and then barfs. Frank is a big dood, but he takes tiny little delicate bites. Purrs! Herman!!!

  9. There's one more kind of eater... the kind that takes comically big bites in case the food vanishes. Is that a gulper? Ashton does that, especially when she steals food from someone else's bowl.

  11. I'm an inhaler, CK! There isn't much I don't like to eat, except liver. I don't like liver much.

  12. Mudpie is 100% a licker. If it wasn't for the fact that she chomps on her kibble I'd have to double check that she has teeth!

  13. I am a chewer and Ralphie is a licker!

  14. I has no toothies, if you remember back when they were pulled eons ago, but I still chew food - well, sort of gum it to death. I do the best with pate. M is thinking of ordering some of this for me. I'm hoping they deliver by UPS because UPS will bring it right to our apartment. If it comes regular parcel post, the peeps have to go down to the office to pick it up and that wouldn't work at all. We'll have to check into this. Thanks for the honest review CK - that's what we like about your reviews.

  18. Sounds like a great food. I love the name of each recipe :-) I'd say Goro is inhaler and Niko is licker. But Niko becomes inhaler when it comes to chicken!

  19. We have most of the eating types here! It looks as though you like the food which is praise indeed. We love the names, they are fun. I can't wait for them to arrive in NZ!

  22. I'm glad you liked at least 2 out of 3 of the flavors, CK. I can't say the same for my kitties. We also chose the I and Love and You food this month, and my felines won't even touch it. At least housemate Toby likes it, though! My kitties are definitely just lickers, at best, when it comes to moist food. They're picky as can be. But it sure is nice to see you enjoying it, CK! Purrs!

  23. I'm a licker. Everything must have gravy! ~Bear Cat

  24. Gracie is a sort-of inhaler. She tries to eat hers faster than Zoe, so that she can move to Zoe's dish. We're on to her plan, though, and do a double-switch with the bowls when she tries to "help" Zoe. :)
