In My Art Studio With 3 Furrends on International Homeless Animal Day
Hola!! As you as see I'm giving a tour of my art studio to a few homeless kittehs on International Homeless Animals Day*. They have all their belongings in that little backpack. These kitties are lucky cos they have their ears tipped which means that someone cared enough to have them fixed. I'm showing them how I create the art you see every Caturday on the Caturday Art Blog Hop, hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. Won't you join me as I continue my lecture. After the lecture, there will be refreshments.
So after hearing all the scuttlebutt about how the images we create on Prisma and some of the other online photo editors may become the property of said photo editor to do as they see fit, I decided to use good old Photoshop today. Frankly, all this copyright stuff scares me as well as anyone who wants to retain rights to their own art.
As you can see, this image taken with the ipawd at the middle of the night is not exactly usable.
First we lightened it and then used a simple paint action. This is the one I'm showing my guests up top but it didn't add much to the original except to lighten it.
To make it look more like an image created in Prisma, Superphoto, or DreamScope, We tried a few actions but they didn't translate really well when we shrank the image for publication. Finally, we played with the levels and abracadabra, this is the final result.
I coulda played with this all day to see the color combinations, etc, but TW had to go out. Yeah, she always finds a way to spoil my fun. Anyway, I bet this is how those online editors come up with their different filters. What say you?
*International Homeless Animals Day® was created by the International Society for Animal Rights™ (ISAR). The first one was in 1992. To quote their website: "The first Homeless Animals’ Day and Candlelight Vigils were a beginning. ISAR is solemnly dedicated to keeping the issue of dog and cat overpopulation before the public until victory is achieved and humane societies can return to their purpose of preventing suffering instead of being exhausted by ceaseless killing."—Helen Jones, ISAR Founder, 8/15/92
Most of us were there at one time in our lives. Kudos to my many readers that are involved with shelters, TNR rescues, fosters, etc. You make a difference and are the change of animals all year around.

I didn't know it was International Homeless Animal Day! But it's a good day to reflect on.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to share your artwork with those homeless kitties. We sure wish all homeless kitties had someone to watch over them. Better yet....we wish there were NO homeless kitties.

ReplyDeleteKeisha you had me at refreshments. Thank for bringing attention to copyright issues and even more for the plight of homeless cats. Their rescuers are wonderful. Your pal, Toby
ReplyDeleteThat turned out wonderfully CK! We hope there won't be a need for this special day at some point.
ReplyDeleteYou are so nice to talk about homeless cats. PUmpkin, Stinky and Harry were homeless until they weren't.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely gesture, CK. Many of us were homeless at one stage and we will never forget what it was like to be cold and hungry and alone! Four paws up to all the lovely shelters that make such a difference!! xx

Well aren't you the talented artist and I love your cause. You seem to know by experience that being homeless is difficult and there surely are many out there who would enjoy the antics and the purrfect loving of a homeless cat. My cats came from a homeless mother who we rescued and took to get fixed and were told "nope, can't do it, she's about to have kitties." So they were born in my closet ... what fun was that. Now Mom and the three boys are in safe homes. I wish everyone could have a good rescue cat story ...

ReplyDeleteSometimes all I have is the iPad around and it doesn't take very good pictures. I should try a Photoshop filter with some of them. Those kitties are so cute with their backpack.
