CK's Traveling Medicine Show

CK's Traveling Medicine Show

About a week ago, Spitty had a post about his medicine corner. I thought I'd show the contents of my medicine cabinet. TW says I now take more meds than she does and she's a hunnert plus years old. I think the alcohol has preserved her but she says that's not a nice thing to say cos she doesn't drink that much.

What you see here is (top row) the Aerokat chamber and the albuterol inhaler that I share with TW, (bottom row right to left) the prednisone to get rid of the inflammation in my lungs, some gabapentin for stress and anxiety and finally, if those aren't enough, some very expensive terbutaline which does the same as the albuterol in pill form.

CK's Traveling Medicine Show
It's not easy being an asthmatic cat. I had an attack Friday morning. TW has the feeling it's cos our condo and especially her room is so dry. Plus the destruction construction outside our window makes a lot of dust. Every time TW wakes up with a stuffed-up nose, I have an attack. I hate to say that she knows me too well

Friday she woke up with a stuffed-up nose. I appeared OK but she watched me closely. When I when into Pop's room to spend some quality time before he went to work, she axed him how I was. He thought she was crazy and told her I was "fine." Not long after he left, I threw an attack. She said she should have been proactive and dosed me ahead of time. She would have liked that I'm sure.

To help us both out, she went on Amazon and bought a top of the line humidifier which we can't really afford. I hope it works. I'm disappointed that she didn't spring for the 2-day shipping though. By the time it arrives, I might have gotten attacked again by my asthma.

Now that Spitty and I both showed you our medicine cabinets, what does your's look like?

UPDATE: I have some breaking scandalous news involving TW and my "open-mouth breathing" episode that started this whole saga coming on Wednesday. You won't want to miss it.

  1. Having asthma is not fun, CK! What a bummer you have to deal with that. I can't wait to see what TW did to you this time.

  2. I am so sorry you have to deal with all of this, CK! I as a human have asthma, but I must say that you beat me in the meds department. But, you know what I see when I look at this picture of you posing with all those drugs? I see a very well cared for kitty! TW and Pop sure do care about you, CK, and that is very evident. Though you might not agree, you're in very good hands! Purrs, and I hope that humidifier works wonders for you!

  7. We're sorry you have to deal with asthma, CK. Claire is surprised, your Aerokat chamber looks like stuff for children suffering from asthma (she had an asthmatic pupil in her classroom a few years ago). We're very lucky kitties, we only have flea and worm treatment in our medicine cabinet. Purrs

  8. My that's quite the medicine cabinet. At least they help you my friend. Kali has a fair amount of stuff in her med cabinet. Most of her stuff is for her arthritis. I Don't have anything...yet. Mom says I'm lucky and I guess she's right. I'm always dumbfounded when mom wants to pop something in my mouth so she has an easy time. Kali is a walk in the park too. Mom has it so easy.

  13. Sorry to read you had another asthma attack. I hope the humidifier helps you to feel better. We only have a couple kitties on thyroid meds around here, hopefully that is all we need.

  14. We have gone through the kitty medicine chest stage before. The head peep says she's glad we aren't there right now because we three are the hardest three cats to medicate on earth. That's because she hasn't tried to medicate you yet, CK. Hope the humidifier does the trick!

  15. I hope the humidifier helps you. Fortunately, my kitties don't have the need for a medicine cabinet yet. The most we've ever had it stocked with is some neosporin-like cream for Sophie. Looking forward to Wednesday's post!

  18. Yikes, CK. That's quite the medicine chest you have there. We hope the new humidifier helps you. Right now, I'm the one taking lots of meds since my allergies have flared up and I gotta take pred along with an antibiotic. That's on top of the potassium supplement I take every day. ~Ernie

  19. Well, CK, I have to admit that's a pretty good haul you got there. My picture omitted the Advantage AND the diatomaceous earth she was sprinkling around. I am sorry that the hots and the dries and the construction are combining to make that asthma cranky enough to attack you. We sure hope that humidifier helps you and we bet it will. You look stunning as always of course. XOXOXO

  20. Oh boy, CK! That's a lot of meds. We are sending you lots and lots of purrs. The only medication here is my miralax so I don't get stopped up. Lexy ends up eating half of my dose, though.

  21. I hope that all of that medicine is helping you feel better, CK. You have quite the collection! It is tough when you have a lot of medications that you have to take every day (I have 8). You are doing a great job of kicking asthma's butt!
