Wednesday Word—Finicky

Do you like my Winter placemat?

I actually have a Wednesday Word and story for you this week. You guys will be proud of me cos I really showed my Catitude and earned my cat stripes this time. I am a finicky cat.

I’ve always loved Iams wet food and my favorites were Tunatopia and Skipjack Tuna. Since it was twice the price of FF, it was a rare treat. On Christmas, the peeps would buy a few cans to humor me as a present. They sold it in Pathmark where the peeps did their food shopping. Then the peeps had a bad experience in Pathmark so they started shopping in ShopRite which was cheaper plus they had a bigger assortment of the goodies the peeps liked. I guess The Cat doesn’t matter cos it didn’t faze the peeps that they didn’t stock Iams.

I want the one on the bottom. No, I don’t.

Occasionally, TW would take the long two-mile round trip walk to Pathmark to buy a few cans of Tunatopia. Unfortunately they stopped making Skipjack Tuna. She bought a few cans at the beginning of December and I ate them quickly savoring each bite. Then she made a fatal mistake and because of it, I can never enjoy Tunatopia flavor Iams again.

You won’t catch me reaching for these for awhile.
While shopping in PetSmart, she saw Iams was on sale for 50¢ a can. You guessed it. She bought two cases—48 cans and was so very proud of herself. She opened the first can, plopped it into my dish and set it down on my placemat. “Wait tll you see what you’ve got for breakfast this morning!" she crowed. I looked at it, took two licks and walked away. Her jaw dropped as she saw me disappear in the distance.

I did the same thing when she bought 20 cans of the Sheba I like liked. Now the outdoor kitties are gonna be enjoying the Sheba and maybe the Iams until they’re almost gone. You guys know the drill. When she’s almost out of them, they’ll be my favorites once again. Do you do this to your human? Do they ever learn?

Would you like to comment?

  1. I *KNEW* we were soulmates from the very beginning my darling! YES! I do stuff like that ALL THE TIME! And because there are times now and then (less often these days) when I basically stop eating for awhile and the Human practically weeps with frustration as she opens can after can after can and I walk away. It is so much fun I *almost* feel bad for her!

  5. WELL DONE, CK. My humans have started giving me some FF as well as Friskies and I keep them guessing all the time. One day I will eat a flavor, another day I will not. But they have never bought a case of anything so I can't pull your trick quite so well.

  6. We always like to NOT EAT which ever food the peeps buy the most of CK!

  7. Naughty CK! No, Truffles hasn't pulled that...yet! Tell TW that cat food has long expiration dates so stash it away and try again later :)

  8. Eat CK, EAT! I only go through streaks once in awhile. It drives the humans crazy tho. Sometimes I lose my appetite too if I"m working on a hairball in the tummy, that M has to give the hairball goop.

  9. Hahaha, TW's jaw must have dropped on the ground. I tend to make the same mistake...my boys like a certain toy and when I get many more of it, they lose interest!

  10. MOL, seriously! Very cat of you! We went a little nuts when we found out that Amazon had canned foods on sale at the end of the year, and got a variety of the big cases! We have cat foods coming out of our ears! And yup, several of the varieties are no longer appreciated.. Sigh

  11. We get the same thing every day. The only time we get something different is if we get something to review. Either we eat it or we don't, but it's back the next day. I wonder what mom would do if we didn't eat the food many days in a row?

    1. TW makes sure I get a variety in case one kind is recalled. So I’ll always have a familliar food. Faith used to eat one kind and when the store’s shipment didn’t come in, Gramma went crazy. Now with the inerwebs, nothing ever runs out unless it’s discontinued or recalled.

  14. Well, at least they won't go to waste. My cats do the exact same thing to me all the time, luckily with 15 cats though, someone will eat it.

  15. Well done CK! My mum calls me finicky too and I do the exact same thing.

  16. C.K., It is exactly what we do. Of course, Fiona basically doesn't like anything so when Dad finds something she'll eat he'll buy a bunch and she never eats it again. They CAN'T learn as they are humans! Besides, you have to figure if TW got that good of deal on those cans that they must be inferior in some way. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  17. Love the winter placemat! We think all cats are finnicky!

  18. Way to show TW who is in charge around there, CK! We do that, too. Though Ashton eats nearly anything, so she kind of spoils the effect.

  19. That is some true cattitude! Cinco and Manna aren't finicky eaters - as long as it is chicken flavored food. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them didn't change their mind on me one day though.

  21. Since mom doesn't feed us canned food, we can't pull this little prank. She only feeds us raw food that she makes for us and we have never EVER turned that down!

    ReplyDelete
  22. CK, we do this all the time! The mom buys a can or two for us to try...we scarf it down like it's the best thing on earth...she goes out and buys a case of it....and then we decide we don't like it! MOL! The mom ends up donating lots of food to the shelter.

  23. Oh yeah, we have some finicky eaters here, too, CK! Zoe has actually run away from her dish when we tried a new food. MOL!

  24. Good job at annoying your mom. I'm extra finicky too and I eat only one flavor of food. Mom tries to broaden my palate with other foods, but I refuse. Squatty the Stray gets to eat those cans.

  25. Oh absolutely I do that! How else would I get my fun seeing I've lost my mancathood!! Tunatopia????? Now I've heard everything!! MOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. Minchie pulls this little stunt all the time! Laila will eat anyhing!

    ReplyDelete
  27. CK -How could you? But I really don't know why I'm surprised

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ohhhh yeah. Take it up with Katie. I hear she's being a bit persnickety these days too! MOL!
