Wednesday Word—Mess

or Why CK Will Never Have an Open Litter Box

HHGutt did it! I’ve been laying her all day.

TW was cleaning my box the other afternoon morning and noticed it could use a bit more litter. She got the bag of Smart Cat and poured some in. Then she closed the bag and brought it back inside. Her intention was to come right back in and finish in the bathroom with my litter box.

Fast forward four short hours and this is what she found.

She had no one to blame except herself. Being #senile, she got sidetracked and forgot to go back in and close the hood on the litter box before she went shopping. This mess is all on her cos she neglected to close the box so I could use it if I had to. Of course I do have another box I could have used with a different kind of litter. I use them interchangeably.

Little CK had a litter pawty! She frolicked and tossed litter around like a kid playing in a sand box. Never had she experienced such a free and carefree feeling in her life. She danced; she dug! Oh sweet glorious grass litter! Oh yeah, she left a little pee in the box as a gratuity for TW.

Do you guys make a mess with your litter box or is it the human’s fault as this obviously was?

  2. Hahaha! CK, serve TW right for being hashtag senile!! ;) The Staff says I'm a little bit "dainty" around my litter box, but I hardly use it. I do my business in the great outdoors, usually where The Gardener has put his latest plants! ;)

  3. We also have closed litter boxes, 3 of them. We are both pretty tidy, no litter play here

  4. We have super high side litter boxes, but sometimes we manage to fling it over the top!

  5. That's a stunning mess you made! Two of our litter boxes have no lid, and Goro is good at scattering litters around. Niko usually drags litter out only to one side of the box where he exits. Looks like you enjoyed the litter pawty a lot :-)

  6. I don't have a hood on my litter box and I am quite tidy with it. It is kept in the porch and what I do like to do is when it rains, I come in and walk through it. It sticks to my wet paws and I can leave a lovely trail with it.

  7. C.K, you are a wild and crazy girl. We do track a bit of litter, and a bit for each of eight cats can build up. Fiona is an enthusiastic burier, but she usually just spends forever scratching at the sides of the boxes rather than in the actual litter. Glad you did leave a gratuity. That is only proper. 9. Ah, the old soft shoe. I know it well. One of my kitties just loves to sprinkle a little sand around as she dances merrily. Makes me a little crazy!

  12. How nice of you to leave a gratuity :) A lot of times I empty a box and forget to fill it right away and someone pees in it empty.

  13. A cat must have some fun now and then. I like to scratch in the litter box at 4 am just to see if I can wake the humans for a snack.

  18. I fling and fling! But then my Human got some kind of stoopy mat thing that's spozed to catch it. I do not have an enclosed box because I Do Not Trust enclosed places (the Human thinks they remind me of the PTU or something--no escape! You did a very nice and artful job there. Well-done! Want to come over later and play on my tree now that I am using it again? XOXOXO I has toys!

  19. You did a spectacular job at flinging your litter. I've given a good dig a few times and pushed a little pile of litter out, but I've never been as enthusiastic as you.

  20. It looks like you had quite a bit of fun, CK! Good for you. Cinco and Manna can get messy with their litter occasionally too. I still love them, of course. I try to pick my battles in life. I let the vacuum battle with cat litter and try not to worry about it.

  21. Yes, we have a litter pawty almost everyday. Then we don't want to use the litter cause there's too much litter on the floor so we wail at mom, who then cleans it up. We don't have a lid cause I'd be scared and the lip makes the box too small for Kali's butt......what a pity....let's pawty!!
