Wednesday Word—Utensils

There’s a double standard in this condo and it needs to be rectified. Immediately! I’m talking utensils. TW feels the need to segregate MY utensils from THEIR utensils. She keeps them separate. Their utensils are kept in a drawer; mine are in a cup.

Can you believe the garbage this little ghetto kitteh has to put up with?

MY utensils

While TW was still working—and long before I moved in here—she bought these expensive Oneida stainless steel utensils. Even on sale, they were still expensive. When it came time to scoop out Nicky and Autumn’s food, she used plastic forks and spoons. Can you believe that? And this outrage is going on to this day.

She thought she would appease me by purchasing some cheap spoons—4/$1—but I demand the good stuff. In fact, they should use those cheap utensils and give ME the good stuff. How can I believe they’re feeding me anything but rot gut when I see such cheap utensils. Good food should be served in style.

All My stuff is segregated in MY cabinet

You wanna know a secret that’s driving them crazy? When they moved, they packed everything. Then they cleaned out the basement and put aside the stuff that they wanted to pack. Included was all Gramma’s good silverware. Year’s later they realized they forgot to pack the stuff in the basement. They were even #senile 14 years ago. In the haste to move, they left silverware, silver serving sets, photo albums, etc. They both cry every time they think about it.

I cry too cos I would have demanded to be served using the good silver. If they refused, do you know how many green papers I could have sold it for on the black market?

Does your human let you use the good utensils and china?

UPDATE: TW threw away/recycled all the plastic utensils cos she bought more cheap $1 “stainless steel” spoons. Guess nobody told her “you get what you pay for.” Are your utensils and plates segregated from your peeps’?

Would you like to comment?

  1. No! I would NEVER permit such an outrage and you shouldn't either!

I say: Hunger strike until they get out the good spoons and the china plates. (You can teleport over here and snack all you like. They'll never know. You can still act all weak and pathetic and mew pitifully.) Right is right.

  2. There's one drawer wif old stainless - we usually get that instead of da better heavier weight stuff. Ya know what we never get is da silver - da peeps only use it on speshul occayshuns. I think every food time are a speshul occayshun.

  3. It's the same thing at my house! We get plastic forks - in fact, we even get paper plates because my human can't be bothered to wash them. It's an outrage!

  4. LOL she uses cheap utensils for me too...the cheek of it. Your peeps should have gone back and asked if they still had the items. They may have kept them for that reason. You never know. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  5. CK, this is just not good enough! My humans use the regular stainless for me as well as for them. I like my Friskies food mashed up which needs a good strong fork. What is the problem with your humans? Are they afraid of a teeny tiny residue of cat food on their spoons?

  6. The heck with utensils, we love that photo CK!

  7. You don't get the same silverware your humans use? That's crazy! We have special bowls for our wet food cuz they're just the right shape not to bother kitty whiskers, but our kibbles are in a big salad bowl and mom uses her silverware to dish out our wet food. And it's Oneida Windrift, too. Good stuff. You gotta get your humans in line, CK.

  8. They definitely should be using a nice silver utensil for you. You deserve it!
My boys have their own food dish and bowl, but also use our dishes, too We share utensils here.

  9. Plastic? *shudders* Our chins break out in teenage angst acne just thinking of plastic....

  10. Waffles has his own stainless steel bowl because he's eating all raw now. I sometimes have the same ceramic plates as Glogirly & Gloman and sometimes one that came with a new feeder I'm trying out. But when it comes to the flatware, it's all the same. Glogirly is a clean freak and doesn't think she can get plastic clean enough. It's all pretty plain though...they don't have anything fancy. : )

  13. Mommy feels so badly that your humans left all those prized possessions behind. We do have our own cupboard for our food bowls and stinky goodness. With eight bowls needed at each meal, we have bunches just for us and they are not plastic. As to silverware...the humans use what they use for themselves for us as well. After all, it does get washed between uses. C.K., some kitties get fed on paper plates or in paper bowls. At least you are not subjected to that indignity. 14. It really stinks that your humans forgot all of that stuff when they moved! I hope they finally give into your demands and get some really swanky stuff for you. Cinco and Manna do share my silverware, but all of our silverware is cheap.

  15. Huh, it never crossed our pea brains that the cats shouldn't use the same silverware as the peeps. Cats do have separate bowls. They're all pretty blue willow patterned dishes that look nice on the floor. Or the counter. Or wherever a cat wants to eat...(unless there's company). Everything goes in the very hot dishwasher.

  16. I must admit, my cats have plastic utensils too. I guess I am a bad Mom. That is awful about the silver your folks left behind. I do have pyrex glass bowls for their food though and larger ones for water.

  17. We share our utensils with our humans, but not the plates ! Purrs

  18. OMC CK dat's not wight, just not wight at all. Sis Lexi gets hers butter spoon off a plastic spoon, but only cuz it holds da oily melty fatty butter better and dusn't affect da taste. And then we eat ow meals on aa good China. Mommy uses da same stainless steel spoons fur purreppin' ow meals as she uses in hers meals. She sez stainless steel be weally easy to clean and dusn't twansfur any germs. Once she washes them, whish she duz at da same time she washes hers coffee cup and cweamer spoon, they go back into da same dwawer and she wuld cook wiff da same utensils she used fur us. Mommy dusn't get a lot to eat hers selff, but she sez she wuld use da same dishes and utensils at she uses fur us. And she duz in hers coffee. We do know peeps dat seperate 'em, but we fink yous shuld demand da very best.

Oh and it wuld make mommy cwy too ifin hers had left behind keepsakes.

    Luv ya'

  19. Bode here. When I was with mom, I was the one who insisted that our plates be kept separate. I didn't want any human pollution on my plates. She did, I must say, use the same utensils for both of us, though I watched carefully when she washed the ones she used. Can't be to careful.

  20. I like chunks but they have to be mushed up small. I have got my own silver plated knife that mum uses. It is a very old knife that dad's mum used to use for her cats. A lot of the plate has worn off now and it is over 40 years old. Sometimes she uses the human cutlery for me as well.

  21. Our food is dished up with the same silverware that the humans use for themselves. It's nice stainless, but nothing fancy. When the head peep had to clean out our grandpeep's house, one of her younger cousins were about to get married. So she gave the cousins the silver instead of bringing it home for us to use. We do have plain, stainless bowls that we eat out of most of the time, though we do sometimes eat out of the human china. We started eating out of stainless many years ago when one of the cats who came before us had an allergy.

  22. Truffles has a couple china cat dishes and a couple stainless steel forks all her own. Nothing fancy :)

  23. My plates is on top of the oven.
Me and my peeps use the same utensils , not at the same time though :)
I used to have a silver tray under my waterfountain , but now I have a plain ceramic one *sigh*
I have NO idea why my mom-person tool the silvertray away ??

    XOXO

  24. Huh! I insist on my own bowls! I fetch up at the thought of using theirs!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I get to use whatever kind they use. The good silver is only used for company, and they don't get much of that anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  26. CK, the mom uses the regular silverware for our food. Except she uses the same spoon over and over and over again. She just rinses it off and puts it in the drainer. But she would never think of using the same silverware for her over and over and over again before washing. Sheesh. We feel like second class catizens.

  27. I love the shape of your fur on your whisker humps; it reminds me of a harp.

  28. This made Mommy think. When she first started reading she thought maybe it was yucky to use the utensils from the drawer for us. But then she saw other humans do, too. We just get the very day stuff. She says it gets washed, anyway.
    Love,

  30. My utensils are the inexpensive stainless .... the human's old silverware. Mom also takes the old stuff to work, just in case it gets lost. They have the better stainless that they use now, but if all my utensils are dirty, I get to use theirs. I also have my own cute little cat plates, but if I run out of clean ones, I get to use the human's saucers.

  31. HAH. We boyz get white ceramic, but miss High and Mighty gets a footed silver bowl. She's not speaking to mommy cuz she broke her other bowl...the CRYSTAL one. No, she's not a J.A.P.-kitty, not at all. *cough*

  32. Man oh man CK...theese is an outrage for sure...you better put the bitey on theese Peeps of yours and set them straight!
