What’s for dinner? It better have meat or tuna. |
I’m running this post over TW’s objections so if you see a bunch of typos and
A few year’s ago, I attempted to start a blog hop called Senile Saturday but no one signed up. That’s ok
The peeps decided they were gonna make an Italian dish called Peppers, Potatoes and Eggs* for Sunday dinner. Red peppers were 99¢ a lb at the supermarket. TW made a mental note—and we all know how dangerous that can be—to check the eggs in the refrigerator to make sure they hadn’t expired. We don’t eat many eggs in the condo. She made that note Thursday and repeated it on Friday. Saturday they did their shopping. (Thanks Theresa!) They unpacked their bags—peppers, potatoes and, uh-oh, we didn’t check the eggs.
Pass the rotisserie chick-hen por favor. |
The Cat used her head. Of course, it’s always The Cat to the rescue. I knew what to do. I knew my furrends would know so I posted on Facebook. The answers poured in: a resounding yes from all but one. The best advice came from Mom Ellen of 15 and Meowing. She advised seeing if they float in water. That was what the peeps did. Voilà—they passed the test so they had eggs with their peppers and potatoes.
Saturday after shopping, they really showed their #senility. They bought rotisserie chicken and heated it in the microwave when they got home. The next day, TW discovered the person who took it out didn’t unplug the microwave, which is a no-no in our condo. They proceeded to go at it like two
Wanna know who really took it out? I’ll have the answer Friday but you can see it on my Stunning Keisha Facebook page later today.
* If you’re looking at the recipe link above, the peeps leave the onion out cos Pop doesn’t like onion and they don’t use sugar or salt.
Did you get any rotisserie chicken, CK? It's one of my favorite treats...but only the seasoned variety! --Truffles
ReplyDeleteOf course, I got my cut! I eat outta TW’s hand.
DeleteOne day you will be old CK. You'd better watch out. Then TW will be telling tales about you.
ReplyDeleteRotisserie chicken is cat food, not human food! It says so right in Sparkle's notes!
ReplyDeleteHope ya got some of dat chikken.
ReplyDeleteOMD senile would apply to peeps over here too and yes the water thing is exactly what to do and if it floats bin it. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Duh!! Was it left to the humans to sign up? If so it's cos they're senile and forgot!! Once again kitties suffer at the hands of the bipeds!! Oh, and row tis erry chicken is the kittys by default! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy not try your blog hop again. I would join in! My peeps have many senile behaviors. I thought you were going to say they left the chicken in the microwave! That is the sort of thing that happens around here.
ReplyDeleteThe only difficult thing is both Saturday and Sunday have a variety of other blog hoppy things going and you need an S day for yours.
When I started mine, there was just the original PhotoHunt and Sepia Saturday and B&W Sunday. Mine was the last Saturday of the month.
DeleteYou are very smart to have posted it on FB! So if eggs float in water, they are ok. Didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out who took out the rotisserie chicken!
Just the opposite. If they float, don’t use them.
DeleteThat was good CK and I hope I don't remember being senile one of these days!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the egg trick worked- thanks for the shout out :) We are very bad and leave the microwave plugged in :(
ReplyDeleteSage LOVES chickhen. She would eat it 24/7 and has no problem slipping it off the peeps' plates if they aren't looking,..even if they ARE looking
ReplyDeleteOH please let Ashton over at Cat Herd Us know that there are lots of chickens available!
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment in your house is there CK?!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Ha ha - You've been peeking in our house again and talking about us. My peeps are very senile! They can't remember nothing!

ReplyDeleteHave a great Wednesday...
Noodle and crew
That was smart to ask on FB. Dad's mum used to keep lots of chickens and sometimes she would find eggs in the grass where they laid them. She always used to put them in waterto check them.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to use your eggs. It is a real pain to have to take stuff like that back to the store! My husband comes from a farming family and according to them, it takes eggs a long time to go bad when refrigerated.
ReplyDeleteYOU took the microwave out, didn't you, CK? To play a joke on the parents? hehehe nice one.
ReplyDeleteC.K, we feel your pain! Our humans are always saying to each other, "If you remember (whatever it is), can you remind me!" And Mom wishes Dad would remember to turn off closet and room lights, but she says that ship has sailed, whatever that means! Keep the faith, C,K. Lots of us are in this sinking ship together. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteSheesh, CK. The things you hafta put up with. We hope you got some chicken for all your trouble.
ReplyDelete#senile: My Human has gone to bed several times in the past two weeks leaving the dining room window OPEN so that any old crazy person who can climb on the garage roof could just walk right in here! I mean, if she wants to invite a serial killer in for a good time, okay, but at least think about the KITTY for heaven's sake! What about ME????
ReplyDeleteCK, I think you absolutely can be a member of #wlf and NUCAT. Belt and braces!! However I think your negotiating skills are excellent so you probably don't need either! In fact you should be Vice President in charge of strategy!!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE rotisserie chicken!
ReplyDeleteDid someone say....chicken?
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
