Wednesday Word—Takeout

I got the menu here. What should we order?

Hi-Ho and welcome to Hump Day. I’m getting ready to order takeout. Wednesday used to be pizza day in the condo but since this Lent thing started, everything is topsy and turvy and definitely not to The Cat’s liking. The Cat doesn’t like pizza. The Cat likes Chinese food hence the Chinese menu.

Yesterday I axed the peeps why we can’t have Chinese this Wednesday instead. They replied they’re not eating meat on Wednesday for Lent so they wouldn’t be able to get pork fried rice or that chick-hen on a stick that I love. In fact, they wouldn’t be able to order any kind of chicken. They put the kibosh on my idea.

Let’s see what I’m gonna order …

Then I axed to see a menu. Surely they could eat something that I’d like too. Hmmmm, they could order shrimp. I hate I’m not fond of shrimp but maybe I’d eat it. TW says they’re insects so she won’t eat them. I dunno. I think insects are tasty so perhaps I should give shrimp another chance.

I don’t think it’s fair the peeps are making me suffer for their beliefs so I put two questions before you: Are your peeps giving up something good that you like for Lent? What’s your favorite takeout food?

NEWS FLASH! Nellie made me this pawsome drawing which goes purrfectly with this post. She made me some General Tso Mouse. Yum! Thank you, Nellie!

Would you like to comment?

  1. Does your Chinese restaurant do those whole fishes, including the eyes? Not so easy to put in a takeout container? Maybe the peeps could order a veggie dish and get some chicken on a stick on the side for you.

  8. Hi Keisha! It's nice to meet you! Mommy doesn't observe lent, but she is a vegetarian, so that means we don't get meat. Ever. We think it's very unfair. And we think you should get Chinese food today.
    Love,

  11. That's a PAWSOME drawing, CK!!! Nellie did such a nice job... we love it!

So for Chinese... Glogirly is partial to chicken & broccoli with ginger.
I'm not a fan... I prefer my own food and my own treats.
Waffles.. well, we all know he's a chicken whore.

  13. that drawing is darling! Mom LOVES shrimp...she loves lo mein, just about anything! Mom is an Asian food freak but rarely eats it cause it is so fattening. She tries to make less fattening versions on her own.

  14. Take out is a better idea when it is brought in CK! We love that Nellie art of you!

  15. We agree with you, CK. Just because the parents can't eat Chinese, why can't you?! Definitely NOT FAIR!

  16. Nellie did a great job with that graphic! We don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent, the only Wednesday we don't eat it is Ash Wednesday. We used to give up chocolate, ice cream and chips, but this year I decided to try something new so we gave up negativity. We can't say anything bad about anything, not even commercials or tv shows.

  18. Mommy loves General Tso's Chicken, but we don't order Chinese foodies. No. 1, don't have the money No. 2, the delivery costs are "outrageous" says Mommy. The place across the street (!) is yucky. They overcook just about everything. So, no Chinese for us. Mommy used to work by this, she says, "awesome Chinese place" but it is too far away now.
You made us hungry for Chinese!
PS. Some Chinese food is vegetarian, so there, peoples!

  19. Shrimp are insects? Wow! I love insects! As for take out, my favorite is CHICKEN!!! I'll take most any kind but KFC does have an irresistible aroma. Sadly, we don't get take out anymore. There is nothing near our new house. I love the drawing Nellie did for you.

  26. Hmm...that doesn't seem fair to me. You need your protein.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wait, but you need meat, CK. You're a cat! Just because Pop and TW aren't eating meat for Lent should have no bearing on what you get to eat. You should order your fave from that Chinese restaurant. Just saying!

Nellie's artwork of you is DA BOMB!

  28. We saw that precious graphic you got for winning the sentence completing challenge. Very lucky. Nellie's mom makes such beautiful things. We don't get human food so it doesn't matter what our humans do. Lily grabbed a wheat thin from Mom's plate a couple days ago, ate it right up, walked three steps and barfed it all up. That is why we don't get human food. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  29. Wow, we don't know if we are more impressed by the fact that your Humans are giving something up for Lent or by that fantabulous drawing of you--it's just PURRFECT for this post!

You were kinda snarky there about the whole chalk outline thing. Still, she pretty much has to creep up on me when I am sleeping because as soon as I hear the little chime that tells me the camera is on, I finds a way to disappear or make it all but impossible for her to take a decent picture. I do take my share of nappies, of course, but c'mon: a chalk outline??? No way!

Come on over and see! We can order chick-hen on a stick.
