Supernatural #4M

Hola kitties! We had some weird stuff going on in the condo Friday night. Being DJ CK it reminded me of some songs that I wanted to share on Music Monday. This is another freebie week where I pick the prompt. Let me set the stage.

Supernatural #4M

We were all in the back bedroom. I was in the igloo, Pop was sprawled out watching tv and TW was on the computer reading blogs to me. Suddenly we heard things falling in the other part of the condo. Pop said he heard it again while TW was watching a cat video so she didn't hear it. She waddled in to investigate but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

She returned to the computer and shortly after, she felt a cat rub on her legs underneath the desk. It wasn't me cos I don't rub on her legs. It's against my religion. Was it the ghost of Autumn or Nicky? They're the only two other cats that have lived in the condo and they were leg rubbers? Were they playing in the other room before? Which one of them rubbed on TW?

It isn't the first first we've been visited by ghosts either. Our old washing machine was possessed and I've been photographed with Autumn's ghost and some orbs. This naturally leads me to a set of SUPERnatural tunes. See what I did there?

There definitely were "Spirits in the Night" all right. I debated using a professionally-shot clip with higher quality—not to mention Clarence on sax—but this one has sentimental value. It's incredibly hard to get tickets to The Boss in the NY metro area but the peeps scored tickets to this show. They were behind the stage on the other side from the cameraman in this clip and not quite in the nosebleed seats.

Then again, "If You Have Ghosts," you can't blame me for those bumps in the night. This is one of our favorite Roky songs that didn't get into the tribute. It's part of my Howl-o-ween playlist.

It's all "Supernatural." This is the original written and sung by Vic Chesnutt of a song that has been covered beautifully by Live and Garbage among others.

You can't take the supernatural too super seriously. Who are these old men? This is a cool song from R.E.M. after they started taking themselves too seriously and disappeared from TW's radar.

I'm going to end on a sad note for music lovers. Thought this fire occurred 11 years ago, we're just now beginning to learn of all the irreplaceable musical history that was destroyed. Master recordings, demos and outtakes from everyone from Al Jolson and Judy Garland to Nirvana and R.E.M. Some of the country's blues, jazz, rock and country legends from the past to the present have lost their original master tapes. The sad part is there were songs that were never put to vinyl that now are lost forever.

I'm participating in this week's #4M Music Monday blog hop co-hosted by Curious as a Cathy and many others.

Gratuitous cat photo. TW took this stunning photo about nine months ago to save it for Flag Day. Did she remember to use it. No. Hashtag #senile

  1. Everybody in my human's music circle is horrified about that fire, and how it went mostly unreported for so long.

  2. We wonder which kitty was "visiting" and what mischief they got into.

  3. Yes that fire was a very sad thing indeed. So much history lost.

  4. I don't think the practice of digitizing music and video had started in earnest 11 years ago, but I'll bet the fire got a lot of people moving in that direction. The audio and videotapes and the film are artifacts, but what they contain is history. What a shame...

  5. Keisha,

Are you trying to spook me? All I can say is I'm glad the sun is well up by now or I might be a little creeped out. Your mewsic, on the other hand, doesn't scare me and it puts me in a boogie mood. You might need to call the Ghostbusters if this keeps up. :) Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me. Have a songsational week, my little furriend!

  7. I love ghost stories- I bet it was one of the angel kitties. Great music choices- I knew you would find a way to get REM in there :) I must have had my head buried in a litter box because I had never heard of that fire. Cute flag photo- you could use it for the 4th of July too :) XO

  8. You should always blame the ghosts for any trouble, CK because what are they going to say. That music fire is awful, this is the first that I've heard about it. So sad.

  11. Spooky! Yesterday I was putting stuff away in the fridge and I felt something furry rub past my legs. I told Mudpie it better be her...and it was.

I read about those lost masters with horror the other day. Very thankful I haven't seen Conway mentioned in any articles, but Loretta, Patsy, so many country legends.

  12. Don’t feel bad CK. Our mom is also senile. If Mom or Dad hear commotion here, they run fast as it means Sawyer is probably having a seizure. That happened again last night. Mom saw our angel cat, Madison, in the yard one time. It wasn’t another cat walking through the yard. Have a good week. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  13. It was very sad about the fire, but I don't know why they kept it quiet for so long.
I think the Angel kitties were visiting. I know Eric and Flynn visit sometimes because they leave little signs for us.

  14. Hey, gal - There's so much to comment on. Let's see - first of all, a shame about the loss of all that music memorabilia. I am a little creeped out by your ghost noises, but as long as there's nothing to fear...and TW sounds like my housekeeper who's senile and waddles, too, hahaha...Tom x

  15. I do love that flag picture! "Against my religion." Hahahahaha. Bear would say that about working for his treats/food.

  16. As always, your taste in music is amazing, CK. I hope that TW got good vibes from her ghostly visitor. It can be good for your heart to feel the presence of someone you've once loved and lost.

  17. We saw that story on the news over here. Very sad! The reporter I was watching was one who covered the fire live and never thought to ask deeper questions about that.

  18. Never a dull moment at your place, right...MOL :D We love it when the ghost kitties stop by and say "Hello, I'm still with you"by rubbing your feet, CK <3 and what an excellent theme for the mewsic, with some great songs too. That Rocky song is new for us and WOW! absolutely spooky💗 The news made us very sad too :( Pawkisses for a Happy Flag Day and a wonderful week ahead🐾😽💞
