Spring isn't a fun time for kitties such as myself. I have asthma and allergies and this Spring is supposed to be BAD for allergy sufferers as it's late so everything is blooming all at once. They call it a "pollen tsunami." Even those who never suffered before should stock up on antihistamines. TW is gonna want to open the windows and air out the condo but it all depends on how intense our asthma and allergy symptoms are and what the pollen count is. There's another reason I'm not a spring kitty.
Spring means the peeps are gonna make the dreaded appointment for my wellness visit. We have choices this year. Dr. D. is no longer at the vet place I've been going to. The new clinic she's at is a longer, more expensive cab ride from our condo. Dr. D. is the only vet doctor I kinda trust but how will I react to a longer time in the car? I could go back to the hospital I've been going to and try one of the other doctors there. Truth is, I don't know if they can handle me. The first year I went there, I saw the head doctor, Dr. H., who seemed scared of me. He's the one who told the peeps I had asthma.
TW is gonna try to drug me with the Gabapentin before we leave in the hopes that wherever we go, they'll be able to examine me and perhaps trim my claws. Whether I'm drugged or not, I'm not letting them steal my blood. TW also thinks I might need my teeth looked at for some strange reason. I show them to her enough and she knows they're sharp.
Below are some photos of my last trip to see Dr. D. Since I didn't ax permission to show the vet tech, I've cropped out her face. Pop took these cos TW was too squeamish to stay in the room while they tried unsuccessfully to steal my bloods.

1. Dr. D. examines me. 2. I hiss and attempt to scratch vet tech. 3. Vet tech tries to man-handle me to get bloods. 4. I throw asthma attack. |
You can see the fight I put up. I scratched. I bit. I hissed. I threw an asthma attack. We'll see what will happen this year. We already received an email reminding us—as if I could possibly forget—that we need to make the appointment.
Here's an older pic to show what I look like when I get home from the vet. I'm all worn out and lethargic although it's better now that I don't get the vaccinations. Does it seem like I'm appreciating the moment? If you said NO, you're right.

Oh, it is hard to appreciate the vet moments! I did MOL a bit seeing the photo of the vet trying to give you a kissy face! YOU, of all kitties! She should know better.
ReplyDeleteI hope your visit turns out to be uneventful CK, for you and the Vet humans. Yes, Spring sure is tough for asthma. Sister Gracie is having a really hard time too.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, looks like you really let them have it when you go to the vet.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are what mom calls "fractious". She is a vet tech and deals with this occasionally. We didn't know that cat gloves were still used, interesting. You poor baby. Hopefully the sedative will help somewhat. Keep us updated. Great pics! Purrs
ReplyDeleteDearest BFGF, I'm so sorry you might have to have your toofies messed wife...purring hard to keep your asthma away.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your vet visit, for you and the vet staff.
ReplyDeleteAW, CK, this is so hard on you. You must watch your asthma though. It's a doozy of a problem. Come we'll run away together and join the French Feline Friskie Fluffs.

Oh my CK!!!!!! I had my Wellness visit today (my senior visit that i have to have twice a year) and i was purrfectly calm! "Dr.Smiley" commented on what a great cat I am! I never hiss or bite or scratch there!! Mom was so proud of me! But....we almost didn't get there because I was hip to the fact that something was going on and started running around (before we left) and Mom had to barricade all of my hidey-spots....she eventually tricked me and off we went! Love, Cody catchatwithcarenandcody
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have a hard time of it with your vet visits. I hope your Spring visit will go better for you.
ReplyDeleteCK, it sounds as if you went 10 rounds with Mohammed Ali! And YOU won!

ReplyDeletekevlar gloves.... huh !! ;) ♥♥♥
We hope you can figure out what to do about your vet appt. Zoey gets gabapentin now before vet visits. It helps some...she still hisses a lot at the vet and the techs.
ReplyDeleteEverything is getting green (with pollen) around here. I hope you get through heavy pollen season with no major issue. And I hope the vet visit will go well!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to go to the vet. I see the tech has welding gloves on ,that is what they wear for KaTwo ( she is from NJ too). :)
ReplyDeleteWow, going to the vet is an ordeal at your place! Once there, I'm surprised they don't give you a little whiff of anesthetic gas so they can do a thorough exam and steal your blood. They had to do that with our cat Barney once (to get his blood) because even though a gentle kitty, he absolutely refused to be restrained. Our neighbors never open their windows because the lady has really bad allergies.
ReplyDeleteWe're sorry you have to go to the vet, your visits sound like an epic fight ! We hope everything goes quick and well. Purrs
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember the last time Mudpie coughed from her asthma! *knock on wood* I still haven't made an appointment for her wellness visit...which was due in December! I'm such a bad mom. Angel Sashi used to sack out the same way after coming home from the vet. It would scare me.
ReplyDeleteGosh that is pawful for you CK,I love going to the vets....they all love me.I hope this allergy season is better than expected for you,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteMy Mom has not even attempted to take me to the vet yet. We are not sure how I will react to being put in the carrier and if I will try to bite the vet...
ReplyDeleteAfter what I did to Mom, she is worried. And we are lucky. We have had so much rain, it has been knocking all the pollen out of the air and my asthma has not been much of a concern. We have also been lucky that the dry days have been windy.
Thanks for the shots of you at the vet. It gives me something to aspire too!
