It's Really the Year of The Cat

Yo! What's all this I've been hearing about the "Year of the Dog"? That's fake news if I ever heard it. Everybuddy knows that every year is the Year of the Cat. They even wrote a song about it. You don't see no songs about the year of the dog, do you? Everyone talks about the Chinese New Year but it's also the Tibetan New Year known as Losar. TW used to attend a huge celebratory concert at Carnegie Hall that included both Tibetan and rock music. Now we celebrate by watching a pawsome fireworks display over the Hudson River. The peeps oohed and aahed but The Cat put her paws over her ears. It was too loud. This year I'll celebrate with some Flashback Friday fotos and fill-ins.

It's Really the Year of The Cat

Back in November 2011 when foto #1968 was taken, I was still getting excited when boxes addressed to me arrived. This one was from Baby Patches and her mom. They were sending me some Comfort Zone to try out cos I mentioned how stressed I got going to the vet. I'll bet she sent me a toy too. They were nice that way. The foto was taken from a weird angle up above so you can see the Tibetan rug off to the left. Isn't it funny I'm allowed on the expensive wool rug but TW has to cover the futon couch with a blankie or throw. Thanks to Edie C. for requesting this foto.

It's Really the Year of The Cat

Moving right along, The Swiss Cats opted for #5 from September 2009. I've shown this one before but it's good every once in a while to rerun one of the earlier fotos since they've all been picked. I’m on the kitchen table sticking my head outta a Macys' bag. I'm looking surprised that TW didn’t use the flash cos I’m in soft focus. It almost looks like a painting. I might also be surprised that TW was actually working at the time and could afford to shop at Macys. There were still towels in the bag and TW hadn't had time to take the handles off. I did have an accident when I was first here where my head got caught in a shopping bag handle. It wasn't pretty. I've been more careful since then; in fact, I get panicky if I think TW is going to put something around my neck.

It's Really the Year of The Cat

The Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted each and every week by 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader. They make up the fill-ins and I make up the answer truthfully. Each week my image relates to one of the fill-ins. This week it's about Losar. TW was too lazy to look for the million fotos she has from the Carnegie Hall concerts so I had to pose with her prayer wheel. This wheel is from one of Uncle Neil's trips to Tibet.

1. My Chinese zodiac animal sign is the cat. It has to be the cat, right?

2. My zodiac sign is January.

3. Income tax season means the peeps will have even less time for me as they get all their paperwork done and scanned.

4. In hindsight, I'm glad I landed here and not with the other couple who wanted me.

I hope you liked my Valentine's post. I saved a doodle that I did for my entry in The Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum. You can see digital art created on one of the online apps, Photoshop art and art that is painted or drawn by those with true talent.

Whatever you're doing this weekend, have fun.

  5. Nice photos, you have great taste being in a Macy's bag. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I agree, it is the year of the cat, not the dog. You were definitely meant to be with your folks. How sad it would have been for you to be somewhere else and not get to blog. Plus I doubt anyone else would be so accepting of your "quirks" like biting :) Have a great weekend! XO

  16. You know, the Chinese are just screwy ... no year of the cat?!?! I remember reading at some point that one of the zodiacs include a cat - but I can't remember which one. Or you could just be yourself CK and everyone would fall in line because you're just THAT fabulous! ;)

(Other parts of Vancouver - not so many). Its a nice cultural mix! And I must say I LOVE your Caturday Art! You look Terrific in your bag too!

  22. Love your photos! Just why would they give dogs a whole year, anyway? I understand they have some days during the summer, and that should be enough. :)

  26. Thankfully, we didn't have any Chinese New Year celebrations here. I don't like noise.

  27. Every year is a cat year, CK. Obviously, right???

  28. Keisha is right. I mean, aren't cats ALWAYS right? I can relate to Keisha covering her ears with her paws. I don't like loud noises, either. Mostly, I need to protect my frail hearing but the noise is a bit for me. Even when I was young, I never cared for anything loud. Speaking of taxes, we need to do ours this evening. UGH! Have a good day and thanks for visiting!

  29. I can't believe there isn't a cat in the Chinese zodiac. Sheesh!
