This Kitteh is NOT Crazy for Nip

This Kitteh is NOT Crazy for Nip

Furrends, I just noticed that TW has a pamphlet on the couch entitled Happy Cat Happy You: Quick Tips for Building a Bond with Your Feline Friend, which is put out by the editors of the Catnip newsletter. Perhaps your human has the same pamphlet. TW and I have built a better relationship recently but it has nothing to do with any advice pamphlet. IN FACT, I'm starting a series to debunk all those facts as they relate to me. I know my situations don't apply to the average cat.

This Kitteh is NOT Crazy for Nip

The first tip listed is Crazy for Catnip. I am not crazy for catnip. While it's true I do like to eat the nip—and prefer organic nip especially when I get it fresh from someone's garden—you cannot win my love with nip toys. Oh, and TW stopped giving me nip to nom cos the last two times I got it, I got runny poos. Coincidence? Probably, but you know how over-protective she can be. I guess that's one strike for her and we'll never never bond over nip again.

This Kitteh is NOT Crazy for Nip
Nip pillow? Not innerested. Take it away!

The tip doesn't mention silvervine or valerian. Perhaps they will be mentioned in another tip. I'd be lying if I said I'm crazy for any of the herbs that are supposed to drive cats wild. Sometimes I go crazy over new toys but soon they'll be ignored. I don't fall for this marinating stuff. Unless they're new, TW can forget about my playing with them.

I say The Woman cannot win my love with the nip. Can you be won over with a simple catnip toy?

  1. Maybe you need to make a list for her CK so she has a chance at getting it right!

  2. Oh yes, my cats are very easy to please. They love the nip!

  3. I'll take your catnip - and some treats! I'm pretty easy to please. Binga just takes everything and gives back whatever she feels like in return. Sometimes she just bites.

  4. Harry likes the nip and Sherpa too but Stinky and Pumpkin do not

  5. Hmph. Just like everything else, I like to keep my Momma guessing. Some times, I'm all over a Nip toy ... other times, it's like it doesn't even exist. Hehehehe. Confuses her to no end ;) Now THAT'S how you manage your relationship with your human! ~Bear Cat

  6. I have to confess, I am a total nip head. My mum marinates some of my toys for me every week and I get the fresh ones at the weekend. When I am nipped up I get the munchies. My mum is happy about that because it is the only time I look for food.

  7. I grew catnip in the garden (organic) two years ago and it made my daughter's cat my BFF. Just saying. Of course my daughter said my homegrown nip was WAY stronger than store-bought and she had to ration it carefully :D

  8. Mudpie usually loves her nip toys when they're brand new too...then they get tossed aside until months down the road when she'll pull it out again. Some don't even get her attention when they're new so I guess she's pretty picky...just like with food ;)

  9. Catnip gets mixed reviews in our house. Some of us love it, some of are indifferent about it, and one of us loathes it! Clarissa always tries to bury it when mom puts it down for us! We haven't tried the valerian or silvervine.

  10. I have the same pamphlet! My boys are not crazy for nips, either. But they do like when it's a good nip!

  11. WE don't have dat pamphlet CK. But since we're devoted to mommy anyways, she doesn't even need a nip or vine toy. All she has to do is call our names and we come runnin'. Okay maybe we don't run, but we almost always come when called. Mommy would be totally lost with a kitty like you. But you might be a different kitty altogether had you had mommy fur a mommy. MOL Da things we'll never know.

    Luv ya'

  13. We don't go as crazy for catnip as some cats, but we will play with catnip toys. We do like valerian, however! It's great stuff!

  14. There was some strong nip in a toy that came in a box from BlogPaws®. Parker sat outside the box until I go that toy out.

  15. My favourite subjects, nip and me. As I get older I'm not a fool over store bought nip like I used to be. However, the fresh nip in the garden has my little paws itching for more. Kali is not into store nip much either but she likes silvervine and of course fresh oregano.

  17. Oh my cat! We subscribe and really find lots that is useful. BUT I did not see that bit about the nip. As you know BFGF, you and I are so alike! I also do not give the nip a glance more than once or twice and it must be the most premium and strong produced. And even then, I only give it one try. I don't care for valerian or silvervine not honeysuckle. I always am attracted most to the peacock feather and the red dot. What can I say? I did not develop the gene that makes me go gah-gah over kitty stimulants. paw hugs, your pal Savvy

  18. CK, I say you're just far too sophisticated to be won over by a mere leaf such as nip. Far too sophisticated indeed. My girl Thimble and my boy Evan can both be won over with nip, but, surprisingly, my wild child Eddy cannot. Strange, that.

  19. I never used to go for nip either. But the past 4 years has found me loving it. At least certain toys that have it and of course fresh nip. I am choosy about the kind of nip I will go to tho.

  20. We inderstand, CK. Some cats just don't groove on catnip. Gracie will take YOUR share of the nip, please. MOL!

  21. We love nip and go crazy over it when it's fresh. After awhile, uh, forgeddaboutit!

  22. We are pretty crazy for straight nip and love to eat it and roll in it. No poo problems here. Like you we like a nice new nip toy, but we get bored with it fairly quickly. The pamphlet sounds interesting. Will you be sharing any additional tips with us? XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
