Come Into my Parlor

Come Into my Parlor

Yo kittehs! The past few weeks I've been playing around with some one-click ipawd apps so I thought I'd change it up just a bit and go back to good ol' Photoshop. This art is better suited for your parlor rather than a studio so come in to my faux parlor for a closer look-see.

I thought I'd use the same techniques on both images but got sidetracked by something I thought looked better. My fellow artists know how that is. For both I started out with the sketch action but that's black and white and I felt the need to add some soft color. I decided to play with the blending modes. The image way up top on the wall—you can see it better below—uses the linear light mode. It gives a little bit of color and you can still see the sketch effect. As always you can biggify each work for a closer view.

In the bottom one on my wall I applied the sketch action but I wanted a darker color. I wasn't satisfied with linear light. Instead I used the vivid light blending mode. The result is I pop out of the image. Those are TW's grubby hands holding a shmousey toy which you can mistake for a flower in the sketch.

Aah, the middle one is the center piece so I saved it for last. I decided to go for broke.  I noticed it had a bit too much white for my liking. Using the art I'd just created, I used the magic eraser to get rid of all the white. Then I used a pastel watercolor overlay at about 30% opacity to give it the illusion of clouds. Magically I'm smelling a flower in the great outdoors!

I know that Superphoto and Dreamscope are really sexy apps and I'll prolly go back to them next week. I just thought I'd make TW work since she's too dizzy to do anything else. Hope you have big plans to use the weekend wisely.

Thanks to Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty for hosting the Caturday Art Blog Hop so I can mess around with Photoshop and all the cool online apps that are so easy a cat can use them. If you'd like to see more Caturday art, click the link and check out the other kitties showing their artwork this week. You'll find all kinds of art styles and one of them is bound to catch your [cat] fancy.

  1. Those are really cool photos, CK. WAY over our humans heads, but wow! Those could be framed and hung!

  2. They are very cool effects. My human prefers working in Photoshop - if it just takes one click, she figures anyone can do them.

  9. CK, we love these! You sure have a serious talent for using those Photoshop effects. We have zero skill in that, so we really admire your creativity.

And, the dizzies are really no fun, so we hope TW gets to feeling better! I'm sure you make the purrfect nurse, right, CK?

  10. Your mom is too, too clever, C.K. Our dad works in Lightroom and Photoshop, but Mom knows nothing about either. We do like the last one the best. The rosy glow adds a lot. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Caista Jo
