Wednesday Word—Neighbor

Wednesday Word—Neighbor

Yo furrends, join me as we participate in Week 50 of the 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge. Our mission is to show photos taken by us to depict the word Neighbor. I thought I’d show you some of my feline neighbors. They’re both members of The Alleys, my street gang. I call them my posse so their names have been changed to protect the innocent. You can hover over the pics to find out their duties for the Alleys.

My neighbor P-Kitty lives in the Chinese bodega—now that’s a oxymoron: Chinese bodega—about two blocks from us past the big parking lot. When TW first saw him, she thought he was a stray even though he attached himself to her leg and let her pet him for as long as she wanted. Once she fed him, she made a friend for life. Now every time she sees him she has to give him some kibble or he’ll follow her for blocks. He’ll follow her across the highway if he has to which scares the heck outta her. The lady who owns the store and is P-Kitty’s human has already yelled at TW for feeding him but TW doesn’t want to be responsible if he gets hurt crossing the street so he gets his kibble.

Wednesday Word—Neighbor

A few weeks ago TW was walking with a cat-loving guy she’d just met and they both stopped to pet P-Kitty. The guy noticed P-Kitty was limping and went right in to inform the lady. We hope she took him to the stabby place cos he was still limping the next time TW passed.

The next neighbor I want you to meet is Jamal Jonez. He’s a member of my posse and he’s been patrolling the porch of a run-down house right across the parking lot for as long as the peeps have lived in the condo which is a dozen years. He’s rough-looking and not friendly to any human but his staff. Recently he got a brofur.

Wednesday Word—NeighborLast week, TW passed the house and there was a dumpster across the street. Two men were taking old broken furniture and stuff from the house. Jamal was nowhere to be seen.  When she returned from her shopping, there was a padlock on the door. Still no Jamal. She began to panic that his elderly human had passed away or gone to a nursing home and wondered what had become of Jamal and his sib?

TW did some investigating online and discovered—surprise, surprise—the house was in foreclosure. I’ve got my paws crossed that if his human had to move, he took Jamal and bro with him. He once told TW Jamal was his buddy and his best friend. Jamal even had a cat door so he could go in or out whenever he wanted. TW wasn’t surprised about the foreclosure. I’d hear her telling Pop she always thought they were using the house to sell drugs or run numbers cos strange people were going in and out at all hours.

The BIG surprise was during her investigating, she discovered HER old house was in foreclosure too. Since it was renovated and modernized after she sold it, she kinda got nostalgic when she saw that and wished she had the green papers to buy it. It’s priced at over three-quarters of a million dollars—about five times what she sold it for—so she doesn’t see that happening. Who woulda thunk.

Please note: all kitties names are fictitious even though the kitties are real.

Thanks to Christina and The Lazy Pit Bull for hosting the 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge this week and every week throughout 2015. For those who would like to participate, next week’s theme is Friend. I think I’ll just re-run this post.

  3. I sure hope P-Kitty went to the vet and is OK! Also, hope Jamel and his brother didn't get left behind. So many dogs and cats around get left behind when people move out because of foreclosure. Makes me sick that humans can be so cruel.

  13. You have some really cute neighbors, CK! I hope that P. Kitty got the help he needed for his leg and that Jamal is safe at home with his family wherever they are now. Sorry to hear about TW's old house. It is always sad to see homes being foreclosed. Unfortunately, it happens a lot these days.

  16. Wow--you know a lot of neighbor kitties! We know Onyx and the Big Kitty who lives upstairs from us (I kinda forget her name--maybe Lena or Leslie or something like that?) And there is a kitty who lives in the apartment across the hall. The Human knows the people but has not asked the kitteh's name. Can you even believe that? It was fun hearing about all your neighbor kitties! XOXOXOXO

  18. You have very interesting neighbours, CK! Mine aren't anywhere near as interesting!! Just Tigger mostly and I haven't seen him for weeks. TBH I'm a bit worried about him!!

  19. We sure hope Jamal is safe! Those are some handsome neighbors you have there. We don't see our kitties neighbors much. The dogs don't like it when they wander into our yard and they get quite vocal about it! We think they're just trying to protect Samantha. :)
BTW, Sam got her Cat Claws box yesterday and she loves it! She's already been playing with one toy, and lounging in the scratcher box before I even have it put unwrapped and put together! Thanks so much!

  20. We never see any kitties around our neighborhood. I don't even know any neighbors besides us that have kitties around here. Hope those kitties in your post here are going to be alright.
