Bokeh is this week’s 52 Snapshots’ challenge and, yeah, I had to look it up. The original definition I read described it as blur and if that is right, then TW achieves bokeh in all her photos. Unfortunately for her, bokeh is attractive blur, not what she takes. I’ll admit that faux bokeh is not one of our favorite effects, however we’ve used it as an overlay in Photoshop (see above) and will no doubt use it again.
The image below is prolly the closest TW has ever come to taking a pic with real bokeh in the background and it doesn’t really come close. She took it in her old backyard. She’s never had a good enough camera or lens to achieve it. This was taken with her analog Olympus and a mackerel lens. We had to scan it so hopefully it didn’t loss too much in the process.
Thanks to Christina and The Lazy Pit Bull for hosting the 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge this week and every week throughout 2015. For those who would like to participate, next week’s theme is Neighbor. Don’t tell me I’m gonna have to take a picture of Bijou.
My lead bokeh image is gonna double as my submission in the Caturday Art Blog Hop. That image was done in PS using a rainbox bokeh. The image below was done as a filter in Pizap. I don’t like how it turned me into grayscale but you get what you pay for. Either one would be classified as faux bokeh. Which one do you prefer?
Bokeh - you're doin it right!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!
My human loves bokeh but she is not any better at creating it on her own than your human is!
ReplyDeleteMommy loves it and when she photographs her macros, there it is! MOL
ReplyDeleteWe have a woofie friend named Bokeh, but he is pretty focused!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! We love the bokeh effect and we are so glad you like our Caturday Art blog hop :)

Whoo hoo!! Our human is a champion at poorly done bokeh and never even knew she had that skill! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey kitties
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh! I did a painting tutorial that was supposed to put a bokeh effect around a bird. Mine ended up looking like the bird was standing in front of a polka dot tablecloth…it is pretty funny :D
ReplyDeleteI like the first bokeh the best. My mum often gets my photos blurred because she doesn't like to use the flash, and then I move.
ReplyDeleteWe had the odd picture with Bokeh in the background...mom just thought it was too fuzzy and deleted. We learn something new from you all the time CK.
ReplyDeleteShoko
Great job with the bokeh. I had to look it up and then I couldn't find a bokeh effect on an editor so I just did a blur.
ReplyDeleteI love that effect in pictures, but we don't have the right kind of camera either. Sigh! I do like your art for the week tho - i love that look.
ReplyDeleteYour images with bokeh are fantastic! I especially love the last one. Beautiful bokeh and colors!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for photo editors because I could never achieve bokeh naturally either!
ReplyDeleteMOL! The mom is queen of bokeh....really bad bokeh, too.
ReplyDeleteMes thinks yous looks stunning in Bokeh!!!
ReplyDeleteLike Always, yous has ROCKED it grrl furrend!
Kisses
Nellie (@ Mommy's Blog)
We love bokeh!!! You're right though... sometimes the whole photo goes all bokeh on us! ; )
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning today, CK!
You look stunning in grey scale or full color bokeh or no.
ReplyDeleteBokeh, eh? Sheesh. My Human is an EXPERT at that! Finally something about photography she has completely mastered! You, as always, look purrfectly stunning!
ReplyDeleteHa, if all we needed was a blurry photo, I would have had hundreds to choose from as well! How about if the subject was blurry but the background was clear? Got that too! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think TW did great! I kind of like the faux bokeh effect. I had that as my backup plan if I couldn't get what I wanted with the camera.

That's lovely! Mom is pretty good at non-attractive bokeh too! MOL we doubled our photo as our Caturday Cat art too!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
We had heard of this and were wondering, thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteHave a super Sunday...
Noodle and crew
You are as pretty as a bouquet, CK! What? ......... Bokey ...... Boquey .... Bokeh! Whatever! You don't need no enhancements, honey! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou look stunnin' as always CK. Weez never unnerstood da "beauty" of bokeh eever, as it's just a blur and not sumfin' we like on our fotos. But you stand out in yours. Have a blest Sunday.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
I thought the way to get bokeh is to have a crappy lens, not a good one. Your art version of yourself is bokehed very nicely.
ReplyDeleteYou always look stunning, CK -- Bokeh or not!
ReplyDeleteHi darling--no selfie today? We hope you are all okey-dokey back there XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteWe like all three photos. Mom has used the faux bokeh quite often. She knows she will never accomplish it on her own in a way that it is successful. We do think we favor photo #1 just a bit. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDelete(Bokeh comes from the Japanese word boke which means blur)..please don't be taken in by this rubbish the answer is above, its blur ye fools and of course you could always have good blur and bad blur and you don't have to talk Japanese to say it we got our own word for it its BLUR. thank you and goodnight/day..
