Pop’s Favorite Christmas Toy

Happy Caturday! Now that we have our tree, things are beginning to look a lot like Christmas in La Condo Keisha. The peeps brought Fraser home last weekend. The peeps and Uncle Vince went and picked him up from the train station, The Cat was left alone most of the day. It’s now Day Five and Fraser is still nekkid.

This post isn’t really about the tree. It’s about Pop’s favorite Christmas toy. You know how TW likes to dumpster dive even though she says she doesn’t? One night about nine years ago when she was throwing the garbage, she noticed that someone had thrown out a whole bunch of big nutcracker toys. TW has a thing about nutcracker ornaments.  She couldn’t hold them all so she quickly picked one and brought it back to the condo. At the time, she wasn’t aware that it played music. She thought it was just a statue.

Pop fell in love the moment he pressed the button and heard the tinny music. I’ve—and the neighbors cos it’s LOUD—been forced to listen to it over and over every single night during the Christmas season. Now, I’ll give YOU a chance to listen to it. You’ll notice there’s a little ceramic CK in the display that was made by Mollie and Alfie’s human.

I’m also participating in the Caturday Art Blog Hop that happens every week. Since we’ve spent the better part of the week designing my card in Photoshop, I figured I’d use an online program as a change of pace. We decided to make a Christmas puzzle. It’s an old photo so you’ll see my ancient watermark that we made into a puzzle. We may have overdone it by adding the frame. What you do think? MOL!

Thanks to Athena and Marie for hosting the pawsome Caturday Art Blog Hop every week. Without it, TW would still be clueless about photoshop. Click the link to see other creative anipals displaying their art projects.

  1. My human says that nutcracker was a real score - I'm glad she's never found one like this, as it woke me up when she played the video. She was at Joann's looking for something the other day, and they had a bunch of nutcrackers there, but none was as cool as that one - or the (silent) pirate one we do have.

  4. My Dad loves nutcracker thingies and the fireplace mantel will one day fall off the wall due to the weight of them I'm sure. In the meantime, they do look kinda cool up there every Christmas! Hope Fraser gets a Christmas SUIT soon!

  5. C.K., We think your framed art is perfection. The reflective frame just adds the right element of interest. We also like the eclectic nature of your decorations. That musical nutcracker is sort of like Mom's clock that plays Christmas Carols. Drives our Dad C-R-A-Z-Y. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

We wanted to let you know that Snickers does have a home. She lives next door to us but they let her outside almost 24/7 :(
