Feral Friday: Getting Feed Burn

Hola kitties! How was your week? It may not have started out too good if you subscribe to Stunning Keisha and received an empty email instead of my blog feed. We're totally sorry about that. We've been sending our emails using Feedburner simply because we've been too lazy/technically challenged to find another platform. Now that Feedburner is discontinuing sending email lists out in July, we've been forced to search for other platforms.

Feral Friday: Getting Feed Burn

Here's what we discovered. There are still some free platforms to send email subscriptions. Feedio lets you send free to 500 subscribers; if you have more than 500, but less than 1000 subscribers, you can use MailerLite or Convertkit. MailChimp lets you send your list out free to under 2000 subscribers. I'm sure there are many others if you do a google search. We don't have anywhere near 1000 subscribers or even 500 but we wanted to keep sending an email list. Sorry to say it's not going so well. This is where the technically challenged part comes into play. We thought we did everything right setting up the new platform but looking at our blank mailings you can see we didn't.

Feral Friday: Getting Feed Burn
We did get some things right like exporting our feed from Feedburner. Here are some instructions. If you have problems, message me and I'll try to help. When you open Feedburner and click your blog name, "Analyze" is the first tab on top.

Finding your RSS feed. You'll need your RSS feed for any of the platforms. Call up your blog and right click on the page. Choose View Source Code. Search  for RSS and, presto, there it is. These are directions for Chrome. Dunno if other browsers are different. If you're on Blogger, you might want to add a jump break in each post then go to your Blogger settings and choose to have your feed stop at your jump break to make it harder on content "curators."

Sorry I can't help you once you choose your new platform or you might be sending empty emails too. Hopefully today's email was right since we broke down and hired someone to set it up for us.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Now it's time to join the Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are underlined and in italics. This week my image relates to fill-in number two.

Feral Friday: Getting Feed Burn

1. _____________ is a non-cat related blog I follow. You might notice I didn't fill this out. I'm having trouble following my fave cat blogs these days, let alone non-cat blogs. TW used to like some political ones but again there's no time to read them now.

2. My favorite place to shop online for cat food and stuff is too numerous to name. There are two or three places we shop for cat food online but you know who they are. No free publicity here. The image shows just one of the places we shop online. I was gonna let TW/Baldy answer this since she found a new shop recently where she's buying head coverings for the summer.

3. Sleeping has been keeping me busy lately. I sleep all the time while TW slaves away on the 'puter trying to figure how we're gonna get my post feed out every week to my couple of subscribers without Feedburner.

4. If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self stay away from clumsy humans. Monday TW dropped my full dish of stinky goodness ON. MY. BACK. I was scared! I was traumatized! It's not the first time my full dish has been dropped by either peeps but this hit ME. It actually landed upside down on me! When I sit with Pop at breakfast, he's dropped Cheerios on me.

Caturday Art

This is prolly my favorite art piece that I've ever painted. I love the colors. Love how the emerald green eyes pop out on that stunning cat! I should ax Pop if I could paint his walls like this.

Feral Friday: Getting Feed Burn

Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to showcase the latest art by anipal artists using the many different digital apps, Photoshop or original art.

  1. Thanks TW (and you, too CW) ... apurrciated. And yes: that is awesome and bootiful art, but then couldn't be much else considering the subject ...
BTW: my humom got no excuses but she drops stuff on me alot and steps on me a bunch too, like I said, no 'scues for her.
Rest well friend, gentle hugs. J and A

  4. There are a million stories about the clumsiness of family members we could tell ya. It would curl your tail, CK. Every morning while mom gets breakfast together I run around and show her where the wet food is, the dry food, Shoko's glucosamine pills are....you get the idea and every morning she steps on me. She knows I'm here but geez, every morning.....I know she forgets so I have ta show her.

Your artsy photo is indeed very pretty with such light and comfortable colours.

  7. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I am glad TW found a place to get some head coverings. I am sorry you got your food spilled on you, that is traumatic. Also sorry about feedburner, I didn't know about that. I LOVE your art. That would make a great canvas. And thank you for the puzzle. XO

  8. We really appreciate your telling us about the ways to get our posts to our friends. We have not had a chance to explore yet but did download our list. Wow there are a lot of names from the years but we will cut it back to those we know visit. Love the fill ins and the art is absolutely stunning CK. Play on your blog but so true!

  9. Wowza! What a beautiful painting (of a stunning subject)! That's talent right there.
We don't know about the subscriber stuff. Everything is so different from the old days of blogging it makes us confuzzled. We're just trying to get to know people again and hope maybe they'll stop by and say hi. Purrs!

  11. Your art is STUNNING!!! #4 made me chuckle...years ago I was making a salad for dinner. I shook the bottle of blue cheese dressing in the kitchen not realizing the cover wasn't fully on. Blue cheese dressing everywhere! Thankfully there were no kitties around at the time!

  12. Great art, CK ! We follow your blog with Leaf via RSS, and we got it as usual. Purrs

  13. Wow, I love your art, CK! It's almost Van Gogh like! I am trying to figure out what to do about the pawful of email subscribers I have left on Feedburner. My human needs to do some math to see if we can switch over to daily posts and still not hit the maximum because the ones still on Feedburner are there because they wanted the posts daily instead of weekly like I have on Mailchimp.

  14. We don't know about Feedburner. We usually follow by the links at the Cat Blogosphere and Bloglovin. Your artwork is fabulous. You're right...one of the best!

  16. Thanks for that info. Your art is amazing as always!

  17. Wow, fantastic art! You poor thing, getting your food dish dumped on your back. That's not the way to enjoy a meal. Mom just set up a new pc and it was a pain in the you-know-what. Mom thinks it's much more complicated now that everyplace thinks you want your entire life to sync to the cloud (and she doesn't).

  18. Gosh! CK, you have been busy! Mom has always had so many difficulties following blogs by email that she just sets up bookmarks and uses those...yes it means she misses posts because she forgets which blog she was at...and she goes to sites that have not posted for a month... But I guess we do need to think about our followers...We will bookmark the post and try to get to it.
Your fill-ins rock! We sure wish we could get Chewy up here, we hear about the things they do. And Your art is exquisite! We learn so much from you guys! You ROCK! Now we gotta make time to do the puzzle. We hope all 3 of you have a marvellously happy day!

  19. I follow you through Feedly. It has had a few glitches lately adding some posts a few hours late, but mostly they are there on time. Your art is gorgeous, and thanks for the puzzle.

  20. We need to find another way to have peoples subscribe to our blog too, CK. Thank cod we have until July to do it because it sounds like it’s gonna be a real pain in the butt.

  21. Your art looks fantastic, CK. Everything about it is right! I have gotten two emails of your posties lately, one with nothing and one with your new postie in it. I'm sure it will work out fine in the end, but it can be very annoying when things don't work the way they should be...sigh... Pawkisses for a Happy Day to you all and an Extra Healing Pawkiss for TW🙏🐾😽💞

  22. You are right, CK, your artwork this week is simply The Best!

Mummy is also worried about that thing with the emails and being technologically challenged, She is wondering what to do.

  23. CK, your peeps try to food fight with you? Do you retaliate with teeth and claws?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love the artwork, CK! Did you bite TW for dropping the food on you?
