Thankful Thursday

Hola kitties! This is a Thankful Thursday post even though it's a post TW and I never wanted to have to write. As long as this blog goes on, it will be about me but seeing as I'm not getting to visit my furrends or leave comments on their blogs regularly anymore, I thought you needed to know why. Not my fault.

Thankful Thursday

We try to keep this blog light and airy and full of yuks but sometimes life is cruel. Sometimes we're dealt a bad hand. Back in September, TW was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer which ain't no joke. Since then, she's been going for all kinds of tests and treatments including chemo which zaps all her strength. I enjoy when she joins me for a nap on the pillowtop mattress although that takes away from her time on the computer. Some weeks she's so sick she can't finish my Friday post on time. Mostly her side effects are mild and handled by imodium and the "magic" cookies a friend bakes. Yes, they are legal in our state.

Here's where the Thankful comes in. Her last scan two weeks ago came back a bit more encouraging. Even though stage 4 cancer can't be cured or go into remission, there was some definite improvement to show the treatment is working. Pop and I are way thankful. Believe it or not, I haven't been biting her that much and she's been a lot more loving to me.

I'm glad she came out about this so now I can call her "Baldy" in public. She started shedding way before shedding season started and is now a Sphinx cat. I used to joke about her weight but she's now lost over 30 lbs. since the diagnosis. There are no estimates on how much more time we all have together but we are thankful for every second.

She/We don't want your pity just your understanding. As long as she's well enough to continue, I will keep posting on Feral Friday. I hope you'll keep reading and laughing at my antics.

I'm joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop over at Brian's Home.

Against TW's wishes, I'm leaving comments open.

Would you like to comment?

  1. Although I'm glad TW is doing better at the moment, my human and I are still devastated by this news. At least you are being nicer to her, and I'm glad for that since I can't come over and offer my therapy cat services. But I'm sending lots of purrs from the far coast and my human is trying really hard not to cry.

  2. Yes, I did suspect as much when you were "asking for a friend", but it was not my place to ask further questions. I agree, pity doesn't help, but I truly understand. My cancer is also stage 4 metastatic and can't be cured, but we must appreciate every day we have. I also had a scan 3 weeks ago and although there was no further shrinkage there was no more spread either. A good result for me too.
Tell TW not to give up hope. I first had cancer 10 years ago, and it was found to have metastaticised 4 years ago this January so although we know it will take us one day that day is still hopefully years away.

  4. I am thankful that TW decided to share this news so all her many human and feline furiends can send her love and hugs and purrs and support her as best we can through the innerwebs. I know that YOU are her main squeeze and I am very happy that you've decided to curb your biting for now ;-) I know that takes a lot of self-control. Maybe you can start biting Pop if you need to sink those fangs into someone?

I (and Spitty too) love you and TW, and I am sending her all the best anti-cancer mojo. Very glad to hear the treatment is having a positive effect, and that the edibles are helping keep chemo side-effects more manageable. You have my purrmission to call her Baldy anytime, but make that SLENDER Baldy, CK! I know you are doing your very very best for TW, and I have to say that your love for her shines through every word. That's okay--Spitty would approve, CK, yes he would.

  48. Dear CK and Pattie, your news is devastating and it hurts our hearts deeply, but we thank you for sharing it with us, as we all can now add our prayers, purrs and POTP for you each and every day. We hope that knowing so many love and care about you can make the burden and treatment just a bit more palatable. And Pattie, try to eat. We know food is probably flavorless and causes more nausea, but 30 pounds was way too much weight to have lost. You need all your strength right now. And CK, please do your best to continue to be a good kitty! We promise that it will not tarnish your reputation. Both our mom and dad and all us Kitties Blue are sending you, Pop and CK much love and virtual warm hugs. 🙏🏻💓
