This Cat is Moving on Up

Hola kitties. It's still rainy and damp where we live but at leave we didn't get run over by Florence. She left many anipals homeless and even destroyed shelters and factory farms killing hunnerts of gentle creatures.

This Cat is Moving on Up

I'm moving on up but it's not quite a deluxe apartment in the sky. I finally started exploring the top perches of the Cat Tree That Took Forever to Get Built. After being a ground-dweller for many years, I've discovered I can still jump. I can hide up here cos TW doesn't think to look up when searching for me. If she does find me up here, the flashy box is often employed usually to disastrous results. You'll see them next Friday during Pet Photo Fails.

The latest condo news is we've had FD here at the complex at least five times in the past week. Our fire alarm system is antiquated so mostly it's alarms activated which might have been caused by all the rain and dampness. Still it scares TW. Twice the alarms sounded in our building and they were at the most inopportune times—one after midnight on a week night and the other before eight on a Sunday morning. Last week when they were out shopping, they saw engines heading our way and sure enough those engines were in front of our complex when they got home.

Let's get down to business cos today we do the Friendly Fill-Ins—a feature held once a week at this time. The Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted each and every week by 15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are underlined and in italics. Each week my image relates to one of the fill-ins. This week it relates to number four.

1. The last time I was homeless was 2005. I was taken off the streets to live in a homeless shelter before I moved into the peeps' condo and lives.

2. Biting isn't the best way to get what I want but I'll keep trying. When I bite TW to tell her to play with me, she often yells and walks away from me. Other times she'll throw something (not at me) and chase after me. I like that game and wish she wouldn't walk away as much.

3. HHGutt is a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong, he's a thorn in my side and my nemesis. He's also someone I can blame for stuff that I get blamed for. He represents me at pet blogging conferences cos I don't travel well. Now if I can only get him into the PTU to take my place at the vet.

4. My favorite word is stunning. My favorite phrase is kiss my gray furry a$$.

For my art, I'm using the same image as the header. I'm not quite in the penthouse but I'm over TW's head and I can get into the cabinet behind me. I used my watercolors and painted a wash over the pic and then added some black edges to turn it into a cartoon.

This is my entry in The Caturday Art blog hop which is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to provide a platform for anipal artists to showcase their latest digital, Photoshop and original art. No talent? No problemo. There are hundreds of one-click apps for desktop or mobile devices that will turn your photos into works of art like this one.

How's your weekend looking? Hope it's looking dry.

Would you like to comment?

  1. I wish we had a little bit of your rain for this weekend! It is always too dry here, and my human worries when the foliage gets too crispy.

  2. I am so glad you are finally getting to enjoy your tree CK! I enjoyed your answers too but the fire department being there doesn't sound like fun at all.

  3. It's great you are moving up to higher perches. You look quite content up there :-) Your artwork is very pretty.

  4. I hate it when the fire alarms to off in the middle of the night and it's nothing. Always at the worst times too.

Stunning is a good word for you as you're indeed stunning.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday. My best to your mom. ❤

  5. Thanks for the wonderful share. We are so happy to read that you are moving on up to the higher perches. You look very comfortable up there. It's great that you have not been homeless for thirteen years and have a wonderful place to live. Have a great weekend and we hope to see more terrific photos of you on your cat tree.

  6. Glad you are moving up. I (Percy) love, love, love heights, the higher the better.

We're glad the FD wasn't there for a fire. We don't want anything to happen to you.

  7. You look happy higher up in your tree! How long before you move into the Penthouse apartment? Lovely subtle art. Perfect for one as stunning as you.

  8. You are one tough cookie, CK. We think you’ll like being up high...you can see everything much better from up there.

  9. We'll kiss your gray furry ass any time, CK. No wait. That didn't come out right. I think we have the same cat tree - after reading reviews, I put blankets on the three perches. Since The Boy moved in, Bear hasn't used the cat tree perches. Makes me sad. I don't get it.

  10. We're so over the rain! And there is more coming tomorrow! We can't wait for the sunshine, that's for sure. We're loving your cat tree.

  11. Great shot of you on your tree. When I saw you were moving on up, I thought of The Jefferson's and now that song is going to be stuck in my head all night :) Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Prancie was also adopted in 2005. Stunning is the perfect word to describe you and I will kiss any part of you as long as you don't bite me. I love your art, that came out beautiful. Have a nice, quiet weekend! XO

  12. Mudpie loves going up as high as possible! Even when I pick her up she's looking up at the ceiling MOL. The animal suffering caused by the hurricane is heartbreaking.

  13. CK! I don't know where to start...your Fire Alarms...your Fill-ins or your Art!!! Please don't make me pick...they are equally excellent!

  15. We don't know what the weekend has in store except for the usual. We like your condo in the sky! Just wondering - are you on the east side, too? - Purrs, Tom x

  16. Totally neat artwork and we just hope the FD alarms are never the real thing!!! We believe very strongly in ELEVATION on cat trees; we were made to supervise goings on and you are in your natural element up there! As for liking being chased, we LOVE being chased like U and try to make our human do it whenever possible. She's way too lazy at times. - Peaches & Paprika

  17. Hello beautiful, You look stunning atop your tower! I can still jump too, though not from floor to tower top anymore! But I think I can still handle a respectable leap for a gentleman of 14. I like to stay low to the ground most of the time, though. I think it's a 'formerly feral' thing maybe? XOXOXOX

  18. Your Caturday Art image is great. :)

Here is a story that might make you happy. It is about animals being rescued during Hurricane Florence: Animal Rescue.

    Have a blessed weekend. :)

  21. We're glad you're getting up in the higher levels of your tree, CK. And how funny that TW does not think to look for you there. :D

Sorry to hear a bout the FD coming out so often. That's just horrible.

  22. I wish we'd get some of your rain. It hasn't rained here in a LONG time. Love the art, CK!

  23. I like your #3. I need look at the other four Tribe members as opportunities to shift the blame away from me, although the worst culprit in the house is my brother Alberto. He's always getting into The Female Human's office at home and destroying things and he loves knocking things off the kitchen counter. His best one yet is the $48.00 bottle of antibiotics for Jasmine that both the Humans spent the entire weekend searching for. The Female Human had to admit defeat and buy a new bottle today.

  24. How's the weather way up there, CK? Thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! You sure know how to give some purrfectly stunning answers. Eddy has now decided that she's going to get herself a decoy to go to the vet for her. Purrs to you!
