A Day for Giving Thanks
We have a sign outside our door that simply says "Give Thanks." TW hangs it up every November after the Halloween sign comes down. The first year it was up, a neighbor made a point to tell TW how that simple sign inspired her. She was feeling down and those two words made a difference in her life.
I won't lie; we've had a rough year. I had a hard time with my asthma earlier in the year, TW has had many more trips to the human vet than she would have liked, all the noisy construction work outside and to our own condo community, our taxes and maintenance have increased significantly while Pop's salary stays the same and, apparently, my food budget is being cut. (More about that next week.) I'm not even gonna bring up what's happening on a larger scale to the country we live in or that our team didn't make the playoffs once again but wound up trading the only good player they had.
Still we have many things to be thankful for: we still have a roof over our heads, the peeps can put food on the table even if it's store brand, TW still permits me to have this blog and Pop has his health and a job that he enjoys going to most days even if the commute is hell. And, hey, the Cubs won the World Series finally.
The Cat is warm, safe and happy in a forever home where there's no other cats to steal my food and my peeps' hearts. I can bite and attack Pop with no consequences. I have tunnels to run through and toys to play with. Life isn't all bad although that can change with that reduced food budget I'm being handed. TW says it's because I'm not pulling in enough Blogpaws' campaigns to help pay for the good stuff. Whatever.
Above all, we're thankful for you—our furrends and readers—and hope we've entertained you over the past year. Reading your comments have put smiles on our faces. You guys are the best!
Now permit me to say Grace.
GRACE! Now bring on the turkey!!!
