A Solid Gold Review and Giveaway!

A Solid Gold Review and Giveaway!

This month the Chewy email for us #ChewyInfluencers contained so many food choices, I didn't know what to pick. I chose one and then changed my mind, then changed my mind again. Of course TW had to check out the ingredient list of each to see if she'd let me eat it with a clear conscience. Finally she decided since I told you last month about the Solid Gold Five Oceans Mackerel & Tuna Recipe in Gravy and it was such a hit with me, I should review the Solid Gold Holistic Delights Creamy Bisques, which comes in six flavors. Consistency is key for a blogger.

As with the Five Oceans canned food, the artwork on the pouches is eye catching even if TW really butchered the box trying to open it. TW likes food that comes in pouches cos she doesn't have to dirty a spoon (or wash a can) but the drawback is it's harder to save half for a rainy day, especially if you make a mess like TW does. Upon opening the pouch, TW noted that it looks just like New England Clam Chowder with carrots and potatoes only the smell was a bit fishy for her.

The six flavors that are available are salmon, tuna, beef, chicken, crab and shrimp. All are in coconut milk, are grain- and gluten-free and contain no corn, wheat or soy. The coconut milk provides an easy-to-digest source of calcium. It's important to note that the chicken flavor does contain tuna as the third ingredient. After stressing again over what flavor to get, I decided to go with the tried and true: tuna. I mean, who can mess up tuna?

Key Benefits
  • Real meat pieces in a creamy coconut bisque
  • Single portions in an easy-to-serve pouch
  • Grain-free and gluten-free recipe
  • Coconut milk for an easy-to-digest source of calcium
  • Contains essential vitamins and minerals, including taurine
  • No corn, wheat, soy or artificial colors or flavors
  • Suited for all life stages

The website says they're decadent but I'll be the judge of that. *sniff* *scrape scrape* Woman, take it away! Bring me something edible like that other Solid Gold food. At first I thought I took after my Pop. He won't eat anything in a cream- or milk-based sauce and I wouldn't go near the tuna bisque. But that fishy aroma wore me down quickly. Okay, this isn't half bad. It's rather tasty.

  1. You made me hungry, CK! We don't eat fish flavors here, though, so I will have to settle for something else.

  2. That does look tasty but I don't like veggies in my food. I always leave them around the edge of my bowl.

  15. Hello my darling! You look very fetching there, having your dinner. I guess it was nommy? Me, I scored some Gerger's because I had to have a second dose of Advantage today cause I still has a few fleas. She thinks she didn't do such a good job of getting it all on me and rubbed in the first time. Sigh. It's always something. No LadyCats want me to visit them either.

  25. Many years ago I used to use Solid Gold for my cats. They did well with it, but it was so hard to get (had to travel out of town and often they were out of the stuff). I need to revisit it now that I order online with free shipping.
